He gave Uxie and the rest of the boy's pokemon time a conspiratorial grin— though it faltered upon meeting the not!Jigglypuff's blank gaze.

"Well if they can't, I will." He assured the boy, snickering. "Can't have you change your look now. It's part of your league brand!"

"I'm told someone was trying to resurrect the dead." He said. "But Jirachi had been sleeping even then, so he was forced awake to do so. The wish failed, and Jirachi went back to sleep."

He glanced back at his phone at Eris' latest message, humming.

"No can do... I don't think so anyway." He said, looking over Jirachi with a fresher eye briefly before shrugging his shoulders. "There's no injuries to heal, and there's no way to be sure if it's safe to transfer energy."

He smiled down at the little god, gently rubbing at its chin.

"There's no reason to go for such a thing anyway." He said, his eye twinkling as he gave Eris a grin. "I'm told he wakes up all on his own... sometimes."

Maybe they would get lucky today.

Now they were fighting monstrosities shat out from the deepest bowels of an elder god while trying to mine its kidney stones for power.

"Yeah yeah." He said, throwing his pickaxe atop his shoulders as he moved past Hideo, ruffling his hair. "You better not complain to me when all the radiation keeps you short and cute forever."

"Oh my. What could possibly bring you here?" The young nurse said as he finished applying a band-aid to a small kid's scuffled elbow.

The injury seemed to magically disappear beneath joltik-branded band-aid, leading to a broad smile.

"As for you... All better, ain't it?" he said, ruffling the kid's hair. "Now listen to your mother next time, yeah?"

Winking at said mother, he sent the child off with her, before putting the rest of his attention on one Isaac Merlo, dropping his butt onto a nearby seat.

"Now then— are you also here to 'meet your heroes'?" He asked, leaning his chin atop his palm.

"Taiyaki is a childhood favorite of mine, but everything in Kanto is de~li~sh." Said the completely impartial young man, looking around rapidly before his gaze fell upon a particular looking stand.

The lanterns hanging off the sides were particularly shaped— and had symbols painted upon them.

"Kantonese spotted!" Doug said cheerfully, gesturing for her to follow before beginning to move towards it. "It ain't Taiyaki, but Takoyaki's pretty darn good, too!"

They weren't even at the stand yet when Doug and the woman behind the stand seemed to sync up their brains, the woman beginning to work on their orders even before they got there.

As they did, Doug smiled and puffed up his chest proudly at Yuina.

"I— am a doctor!" He declared proudly as he posed, bringing a victory sign side ways over his eyes. "— License pending. Currently a nurse for the league."

And he was the best damn nurse in the business.

"What about'cha?" he asked, tilting his head with a smile. "I think your profile mentioned you worked at a museum?"

"Weren't we focusing on work?" He quipped quickly as the booming clang of hard labor thundered around them. "But ya really wanna know... I'll drink and celebrate until my liver gives out."

The day pharmaceutical companies stopped being greedy pieces of shit and made medicine free for all was the day lechonks flew, but wouldn't it be wonderful if it ever truly happened...?

Perhaps due to them getting a little too creative and hopeful about the future, the chamber around them took offense.

As the familiar ripple shook the caverns, Doug released a sigh as the sound of something heavy splatting on the floor reached his ears.

"I was doing pretty good." He said as he turned to face their new enemy. "Emphasis on was."

Turned about, they faced the unholy combination of... a blissey and a Gholdengo.

Huh.
