Slateport’s lower district seems abuzz with life as the reparations are going well. Looking at it now, it’s a night and day difference compared to how it previously was. Broken stalls with debris littered all around has now been replaced with fully fixed and functioning ones. There’s a sweet scent of barbecue as even food stalls have begun operating once again.

The ex-Interpol officer’s lips curve upwards, smiling fondly at the sight of it all. He takes a deep breath, basking in the beauty of society before lighting a cigarette.

His red eyes slightly stick to the end of the cigarette. It’s bad for his health and it’s bad for the environment. The man nonchalantly shrugs his shoulders. ”Eh, what the hell. New Years resolution, I’ll quit smoking.” he mutters to himself, walking down the somewhat crowded but open streets.

Hendrix’s ears slightly perk to the sound of gruff shouting. Feeling as if something has gone astray, he moves closer towards the commotion, curious as to what’s going on and wondering if he should intervene in his alter-ego. As he gets closer, he feels something suddenly and roughly brush against him.

Turning slightly behind him, he finds himself staring face to face with a pretty cute goth girl. Arching his brows slightly, he smiles. ”Whoa there, you still fighting a Christmas rush or something?” he teases, somewhat amused.

The girl’s shouts only get louder as he quickly passes by. “QUICK, SOMEONE HELP ME STOP THOSE LILLIPUPS!” Hendrix’s brows slightly wrinkle and crease close together as he realizes that a litter of Lillipups have managed to wrangle themselves loose from their dog walker.

Even with advanced heat vision, the Pokken Rider has a hard time trying to navigate through the cave. He can hear heavy thrashing, as if someone or something were bashing something against a wall close by.

Turning the corner, he sees a heat signature flying at him at great speed. Caught off guard by the sudden attack, he ducks around the corner, shutting off the heat vision to see what just came at him. The masked hero turns his head to see an Eiscue struggling to get on its feet – its signature block of a face having shattered from the attack.

Yet, seeing the pokemon’s Ice Face broken, the Pokken Rider slowly turns his head forward, staring off against a monstrous looking Abomasnow who suddenly lunges at him and the ice head of a penguin. Its arms raise upwards just before slamming downward with a WOOD HAMMER.

The Pokken Rider’s suit briefly glows a bright neon before a carbon copy of the hero suddenly manifests itself, taking the brunt of the blow as the hero retreats backwards. ”Shit, what the hell is up with this Abomasnow?!” he cries, alarmed by the sudden conflict he’s left off with.

Finding himself suddenly in need of a tactical retreat, the hero takes the opportunity to barrel ahead rather, ducking past the large winter yeti’s lumbering, but slow limbs. Moving past another corner, he spots another man looking slightly injured and weary. With no other choice but to pull the man away, the hero lunges out, grabbing the man by the waist before running off like a knight carrying away a princess.

His nose slightly wiggles as he can smell the scent of sweet berries mixed in with the smell of his cigarette. The former Interpol officer’s eyes avert away from the path and locks onto a random trainer trying to fend off a wild Buneary with her Chikorita.

Slightly amused, he watches the pokemon battle. Utilizing nature to its advantage, the Chikorita uses Natural Gift, absorbing the essence of the berry it has to blast away the Buneary.

Seeing the trainer succeed in her battle, Hendrix continues making his way towards Littleroot Town.

Hendrix’s eyes shift downward onto the tip of the of a cigarette, watching as the wrapping slowly peels backwards with a single huff.

Pulling the cigarette away from his lips, his gaze shifts upwards, puffing the smoke into a ring. He gently tugs at his leather jacket, feeling the cold brisk wind brush against him. Smiling fondly at the pure sight of nature, he walks along the pathway.

Standing in silence, he folds his arms against each other, crossing them as he thinks. His foray into the world as the Pokken Rider was never about filling someone’s footprints.

After reaffirming his own beliefs, the neon green hero laughs. ”Big footprints, huh? I guess it’s a good thing I’m not looking to fill them.” he says with beaming confidence.

”I mean, you probably have even bigger footprints considering your position. It’s not easy, huh?” There’s a tinge of concern in his tone as he genuinely stares back at her. The thought of a public figure filling in roles meant for proper soldiers or officer fills him with dread and disappointment.

The mere thought causes his fists to ball up in anger.

The masked vigilante nods vehemently to her questions. ”That’s right, we’ve met by chance in a dark alleyway, chasing down some thugs.”

Thinking back on his fateful encounter, he avoids bringing up the fact that Pokkenger had also been running around with a Naganadel. It’s probably the reason why he’s so conditioned towards fighting one, having previously seen how it fought against the thugs.

He carefully watches the girl, her confusion doesn’t escape him. Had he made the wrong assumption? No, he hadn’t.

Reeling his hand behind his neck, he reaffirms her. ”Ah, but, I only started taking up the moniker recently. Hence why I call myself the second coming.

The Pokken Rider pulls back, giving the Elite Four member some breathing room. Without saying much on the matter, he simply throws a peace sign. ”Don’t worry, don’t worry. Your secret’s safe with me.” he replies with confidence, though that’s probably not doing much to relieve the girl’s worries.

The masked hero lifts his index finger over his helmet where his should be and rubs against it. ”You could say that I’m the second coming of the Pokken.” He almost sounds prideful at the mention.

He leans closer again, this time maneuvering his index finger to the right side of his helmet. ”If you’re worried, you can ask him yourself. We’re partners of sorts. Ah, I say that, but I haven’t actually seen his face.” he says, chuckling somewhat nervously. Though both the Pokken Rider and Pokkenger did shake hands in agreement in a alleyway during a dark night, no one actually witnessed this.

”If they do, I’ll be there to stop them.” he says, his joking tone quickly turning solemn. While he did his best with Interpol during their original invasion, he didn’t actually take part in combating against them during the most dire of time.

His inability to act and the fact that his suit failed to garner any proper development left the hero begrudged and regretful. Damned if you don’t, damned if you do…” From then on, Pokken Rider vowed to do his best regardless of the situation, even if it means risking his own life and resorting to vigilantism.

Seeing their conversation and triumph turn grim, the hero gently pats the girl on the shoulder. ”Still, an Elite Four, huh? That makes you more of a hero than me, and you’re not even wearing a mask! Plus…” his voice trails to a pause as he leans his helmet close to the girl’s face – his face beaming with a smug grin beneath his helmet.

”You seemed to have mistaken me with someone earlier on. You close with Kazimir, or should I say... Pokkenger?”

A hamster in a wheel. What an apt way to put it. The Pokken Rider slightly chortles at the thought, snickering as the woman lifts his arm.

He can only imagine the Rotom’s expression; after all, the woman is somewhat right. Thankfully, it knows not to speak out if the hero doesn’t permit it. ”Aw shoot, you found me out. I’m actually a Morpeko in an Aura Wheel.”

Yet, as the woman seems ignorant to personal space, the hero can’t help but stare. ”What about you? You’re clearly not a normal civilian if the League is having you run around and fight monsters like that.”

His gaze shifts and lands back onto the collapsed Naganadel. Monster. Nothing about it seems like a Pokemon. It’s too alien and too fierce.

The Pokken Rider nods, promptly closely following the Pokkenger as the two heroes make their escape. He quietly watches the other hero’s movements – despite being unassisted, he’s adaptive and quick to multi-task as he easily catches an electrode as they move.

”I haven’t been in Hoenn too long.” he openly admits. ”Though I was partially here when that war rolled over. Just not as the Pokken Rider.”

A loud screech suddenly bellows overhead as the Pokken Rider catches sight of a steely bird flying overhead. Seeing its somewhat large size and realizing it poses a potentially danger, the hero points his index finger at it as electricity zaps out, catching the Skarmory off guard.

Its movements suddenly halt thanks to the Rotom’s THUNDER WAVE and comes barreling down towards the ground. Before it strikes the ground, the helmeted hero takes out his own pokeball and tosses it, catching it within the ball.

Pokken Rider looks at the Elite 4 member with the blank stare of his helmet. Doubt is written beneath the cover of his helmet, though the girl isn’t able to see it.

”No one is ever ‘always’ okay.” he curtly retorts.

He stops himself from speaking any further as he’s not the type to push boundaries when involving personal matters. Instead, the masked hero scratches the cheek of his helmet, physically showing his embarrassment at her scolding.

Yet, despite his embarrassment, he takes his accomplishment in stride as he rests both arms against his hips. His chest seems to pump upwards as if he were some sort of super hero in a comic.

”Don’t worry. I’m not handling it alone.” He isn’t lying; after all, he has a team of Rotoms with him.
