Hendrix’s left brow arches upwards as he stares at Angelo, his curiosity slightly peaking. He chuckles at the man’s self-description and slides his hand into his pocket to wrestle out a slightly scrunched pack of cigarettes.

Tapping his palm against the bottom, he shakes a cigarette out and casually places it between his lips. ”Uh huh. Have you tried poking a finger into one of those holes?” he jokingly retorts.

Seeing the cigarette in her trainer’s mouth, the Charizard hovers its fiery tail in front of him, letting him lean his head slightly towards the flame to ignite the cigarette. He lets out a small puff of smoke as he follows Angelo downwards.

The clicking sound is loud enough for the pair to hear and he darts his gaze back towards the other man… He lets out a whistle as the Charizard darts its wings forward, grabbing onto both him and Angelo as it swiftly flies forward.

Spears begin flinging out from the left wall behind them whizzing past the Charizard’s tail. As they descend at the end of the hallway, Hendrix lets out a sigh of relief, staring down briefly at half-cut cigarette hanging from his mouth. Disappointed, he lifts it away from his finger and flicks it back into the hallway behind them.

”Well, shit.”

Hendrix’s gaze shifts back towards Angelo. ”No particular reason. Rumor has it there’re treasure here. Isn’t that enough of a reason for anyone?” he answers somewhat ambiguously, though treasure is far from his interest.

He scans the ground carefully as they move in hopes of finding potential foot prints and to find some sign of any Megalopolans, but he’s unable to find any.

Frowning, he looks around at the strange wall, looking back at the holes. ”How about you? Are you some sort of archaeologist or something?” he asks, catching the man’s interest at the ancient writing.

Both of Hendrix’s ears perk at the mention of a ghost… wait, mc…shoulder? He finally catches onto the woman’s strange speech impediment, but before he can linger and question it, he slowly turns his head around to spot the familiar sight of a Rotom.

His eyes glisten and his expression beams with excitement as he licks his thumb before pulling out a pokeball. ”Thanks! You’re a swell girl, you know that?”

He tosses a pokeball, letting loose an Incineroar who lets out a loud and mighty roar. He points over at the Rotom, and with a quick nod, the wrestling tiger charges forward, stretching out both arms as it lariats straight into the ghost.

Seeing an ample opportunity, the former interpol officer throws a second pokeball at the rotom, letting the ball devour the ghost like some sort of ghost catching camera.

The Incineroar quickly brings Hendrix back a pokeball as he turns back to the woman – the fear no longer lingering in his expression. ”Thanks~ You're like a Delibird delivering presents. I was looking for one of these.

After the woman across from him concludes her brief story, Hendrix lets out a solemn sigh before his lips curl slightly upwards to a pained smile. ”Sounds like Hoenn’s in a pretty fucked up state.”

He digs into his pocket, pulling out a packet of cigarettes. With a couple of taps against his palm, he manages to shake one free and places it against his lips.

Staring across the table, he pulls out a lighter and with a flick a single spark of ember can be seen hovering from it. Just as he’s about to light it, he suddenly clicks the lid back over as he gently taps his forehead with his palm. ”Shoot, that’s right! This is a no smoking zone.”

The former officer fumbles onto his feet as he glances back at Andrea. ”Well, I’m going to head off to grab a smoke. It was good chatting with you again. Hit me up some time, yeah?”

He whips out a business card from his wallet and slides it against the table. Hendrix Emmerson – Head Engineer of the Institute of Evol.

the desert is a cruel mistress... from wild pokemon roaming, to megalopolans fleeing, to even mysterious ruins within the area, the surrounding dry sand seems all the more perilous.

the red-headed ex-officer quietly rests his hand against one of the stone structures as he curiously examines all around him. even now, hoenn's history is lacking as the desert is relatively unexplored with no groundbreaking discoveries from archaeologists. even the strange ruins have no proper explanation.

a low growl rumbles behind him as aran the charizard seems to have caught scent of someone's approach. spotting a young man descend and approach from his pidgeot, hendrix passes the pair a smile. "yeah, that'd be me." he says somewhat curtly.

"well, since you're here, let's head in." hendrix turns, heading deeper into the ruins with the charizard in tow.

Hendrix’s gaze shifts from the ghastly woman and onto the hulking Abomasnow behind her. The sound of ice cracking and the yeti’s display of intimidation grounds him to reality as he realizes that the petite woman in front of him is in no danger at all.

His muscles tense as he shifts backward, flinging both arms up in front of his chest to deescalate the awkward misunderstanding. He chuckles nervously as his expression distorts with a somewhat ugly smile.

”H-hey now, let’s just calm down…” The former officer takes a step back to put some distance between him and the hulking Abomasnow. ”I was just worried that you might be in trouble considering the unexpected snow… and the fact that there’ve been reports of Abomasnow attacks…”

He adverts his eyes away from the girl as his face slightly flushes red from embarrassment. ”I just didn’t expect that you’d look like that one ghost that crawls out of t.v.’s…” he whispers quietly to himself.
