The office felt constraining. Though spacious in its own right, and with a nice view, there was just something about it that reminded her of a cell. Sure she could come and go as she pleased, but the ever piling paperwork chained her to the office chair.

Though she might look dabber in her clothes, she was naught but another slave to the system. The long sleeves on her suit hid the bandages on her arm. But there was one good thing about all the work she had to do. It kept her mind occupied.

And when her mind somehow managed to wander, the Pokémon by her side would quickly return her focus to the task at hand. For the Porygon-Z, which had made itself comfortable in one of the chairs there while on her phone swiping left and right, was always the ever dutiful worker.

Elinor looked at the clock, and realized that she had a meeting coming up soon.

“Java, I’ll be having a meeting soon. If you are going to be playing something noisy then please find somewhere else to do so until it’s finished.” She politely informed the Porygon-Z.

It nodded but did not move.

A moment later Julien Demassieux strode into her office. Confident demeanor and sharp gaze. These were the traits she noticed near immediately as he walked to her chest extending a hand alongside a verbal greeting.

“The pleasure is all mine.” She returned the empty pleasantry as she accepted his hand with a firm shake of her own, the movement revealing the faint hint of white fabric beneath her suit. And once the handshake came to an end, she gestured for one of the chairs, offering it to him if he desired it.

“As well as I can be given the circumstances of my absence.” Elinor said. She figured it would be or at least should be no secret why she was gone. At least to the people working with the government.

“So, what can I do for you, Mr. Demassieux?”

Loud voices from outside caught her attention. She recognized one familiar voice especially as he would voice his discontent with the security detail.

It brightened her mood a little bit to hear someone so valiantly fighting to be let in. It brightened her mood even more when she heard pizza being mentioned. By now the Alto Marean delicacy had become almost a tradition among the two Andersons.

And this brightness offered Elinor the lightheartedness to beam a tired smile at Lars when he came inside holding flowers and the aforementioned pizza.

“The doctors say that I am doing as well as I can, considering the circumstances…” She paused. “But I am not sure I agree.”

She felt another rising bout of itchiness in her arms and in her eye. She ignored it as best she could. She wouldn’t let Lars see this worrying condition that she had acquired up close. Unfortunately for all her attempts at hiding it, the bandages on both arms would certainly suggest something had happened to them.

Elinor noticed Isaac’s sudden aversion to her gaze as he offered her an eyepatch. A kind gesture, if perhaps futile. But perhaps the fabric would ease the itching sensation that loomed there, waiting for the right time for Elinor’s arms to do no more.

She accepted his offer and took the eyepatch. A small chuckle escaping her as Isaac joked. Had Isaac’s incomprehensible ability to soothe the mind begun to take hold? Elinor didn’t know.

“Half as?” Elinor repeated. “How about twice as.” She found the strength to jest back. Rocket hadn’t defeated her just yet. She had to keep going for all those that awaited her escape.

Elinor knew the pushback would come. The idea that kids were deserving of applied force rarely sat well with anyone. Honestly, she didn’t like it either. But had Eris Halla not tried to run, to escape using any means necessary, then perhaps she would not have been hurt.

Before she could continue down that path of thought Soyeon spoke of another kid. Then name was unfamiliar to her. But as Soyeon explained, she came to think that perhaps this Aaron Toral would be a good addition to the league forces, when he grew up.

“You are not stupid for thinking you can save them…” Elinor halted. She knew she would’ve thought the same had she not currently been occupied. “But, even if they might be good kids. Have you considered that they don’t want to be saved?” Grudges could easily burrow deep at a young age.
