Flynn nods as the other answers him, wondering when the last time that he had fished was. Much of the time, he ended up simply diving, mostly because Niles appreciated it when he had a partner alongside him. And at least, Flynn was one person that the Sharpedo couldn't accidentally bully.

[break][break] Setting his drink down, Flynn stands up and heads towards the back of the boat. He disappears under the bridge for the moment, shuffling around until he can pop open another box, and then reappear. In his hand, he holds two subways, each six inches apart, wrapped pristinely. He tosses one to Theo — it has roast pork in it, mixed with provolone cheese, mushrooms and steakhouse sauce. It's wrapped carefully and meticulously, just like Flynn's own that he peels open as he sits back down next to the Rocket admin.

[break][break] "It's roast pork," he says, biting around his own sandwich. "If you want something sweeter, mine's a Monte Cristo." The sweetness of the jam and ham mix well as Flynn takes another sip his beer.

[break][break] Meanwhile, swimming in the depths of an ocean, is the shadow of a Tentacruel. This time, unlike Niles, his Dewgong approaches it. Glacier is much gentler in his endeavor, pressing his nose gently in a greeting to the pokemon's glowing scales.

[break][break] At the same time, Flynn turns to him just as Theo laments about his love for the fish. "You should try diving," he says. "There's nothing like it, being up close to them like that." There is a softness in Flynn's eyes as he remembers the first time that he went — one of first dates that he had with Thea that were not already soured by their history.

[break][break] Despite her words, Flynn finds himself sympathetic. "You can give it back later," he says, supporting her as she stands to her feet and clings to him. One of his arms goes around her to support her better, pulling her close. Once again, she mentions that she doesn't like it here, that she doesn't want to go return to her room or for that matter any room on the sub.

[break][break] It is then that something clicks. Flynn remembers the words that he said to her - snapped, rushed, annoyed. Even though he regrets it, at least one good things come out of it.

[break][break] A solution.

[break][break] "C'mon," he says. "You can come to my place. It's nothin' great, but at least it ain't this ship." Hopefully, if she agrees, he'll be able to lead her there.

[break][break] Shoving a fist against the door of his Lilycove apartment, Flynn pries it open. He flicks on the lights almost immediately, revealing the area to be a modest one-bedroom apartment. Though perhaps modest isn't the right word for it. Small, run-down and mostly bare — it certainly doesn't match up to any home she probably's used to.

[break][break] Flynn leads her over to the couch to sit. His Mightyena pads out of the bedroom, cautious, head tilted to the side. Recognizing Emma as a Team Rocket executive, she pads forward on friendly paws, tail waving, to greet her. Meanwhile, Flynn returns with a glass of cold water.

[break][break] "Sorry. The place's not much, but it does it's job."

There was no reason for Emma to continue staying there, buckled against the door, allowing him to touch her.

[break][break] Her words strike something in Flynn too — something that eerily feels like sympathy, an emotion that he hasn't felt in fucking years. Everything that he'd ever felt had been stuffed down in favor of surviving, yet these words that Emma Wolfe says reminds him of the ruined kid that he'd been five years ago, when he's been out of house and home, stuck in a jail cell with no penny to his name.

[break][break] When he responds, his voice is rough but not unfriendly. "I get it. I really fucking do." He knew what it was like to snap at others because you didn't want help, because you didn't want anything anymore.

Unlike most who would have been thrilled to catch the attention of an esteemed Admin... Flynn is doubtful. He is always doubtful — that is how men like him are built.

He hands the can in his hand over to THEO BECKETT, before retrieving another one for himself. With a pleasant hiss, the bottle cracks open and Flynn dips his head back to take a sip. It is then that he hears his superior's question, teal colored eyes flickering over to the other as he does so.

[break][break] "Often's I can," he says with a shrug. This isn't a lie. Much of his work in Lilycove often involved patrolling not only the borders of the town, but the water routes as well. Still, it was much more comforting to be able to do it on his own time, rather than his job — or Rocket's.

[break][break] "You?" Flynn's not much of a conversationalist, but at least he tries.

[break][break] He gently rolls the captured Larvitar into a bag set up underneath another corner of the boat, making a mental note to collect them all and make a much-needed trip to the pokemon center. He knows Niles well enough that this isn't going to be his first altercation of the afternoon.

[break][break] Sure enough, his eyes catch the shark making friends with a Froakie perched on a nearby rock. At least, Niles certainly thinks so, but the frog... maybe not so much. When Flynn feels it's right, he tosses a ball in the pokemon's general direction, watching as the light shimmer's off the ball and into an arc below.

[break][break] He glances towards a shadow flitting just beneath, not too far from where Theo's caught Barraskewda. He doesn't pay much attention to it. Instead, he asks the other, "You like fish?"

[break][break] It should be obvious - but Flynn asks just in case.

[break][break] Predictably, expectantly, the woman tears away from him. Honestly, Flynn can't even blame her. It is the reaction any normal person would've had — after, who fucking snaps at a sick person? An asshole, that's who.

[break][break] She pulls away from him, violent, angry, impossible. Flynn chases after her, knowing that he has to, and winces as she knocks against a wall, the handle digging into her. "Hey, listen - " This time his voice is gentler. He drops to his knees so that he is right beside her in the middle of the hallway. It's probably fucking awkward. He ignores it.

[break][break] His hands go to her shoulders, gentler this time, hovering, an attempt to console. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that. Just - "

[break][break] A pause, and he says, "Let me help. I want to help."

Flynn blinks. It's not that he didn't expect someone to eventually join him - life had a way of fucking up his peace like that - but to see it is someone else from Rocket is... surprising, to say the least.

[break][break] The man shrugs. "Sure." It isn't like he has a choice, anyways, not with the history the two of them have. Reaching behind him, Flynn pops open a cooler to grab a beer for himself and then inclines his head at the other. "Want one?" he says, offering the icy cold beverage to him.

[break][break] Meanwhile, it seems Niles has once again found a new thing to play with. Tail wagging in the water, the shark swims away only to return with the struggling form of a Larvitar in his jaws. "The fuck?" What was a Larvitar doing in the water? Flynn reaches into his belt to press a pokeball to the Rock Skin pokemon.
