[attr="class","flynn"] it was almost ironic, the way the two were two sides of the same coin. doug, who found himself tangled with the league's military despite his personal interests. flynn, who found himself tangled with rocket despite his own morals.

[break][break] flynn shrugs his shoulders. "me neither. but, you know, whatever pays the bills, right?" his eyes shift towards the young gym leader. briefly, he wonders if the kid pays his own bills or has his mom do it for him.

[break][break] the gyarados recovers from it's recharge way too quickly. as blue's jaws clamp around the water dragon's tail, a whip of twister crashes her into the face. she is thrown off violently, tumbling into the sand beneath.

[break][break] "you win," flynn says, calling off the battle. he walks over to the center of the field, kneeling down to make sure that the canine is ok. she whimpers into his grip a little bit. expression unusually soft, he runs his fingers over her face and murmurs, "you did good, girl."

[break][break] and returns her to her pokeball in an instant. he stands.
