For the first time in months, Killian graced the halls of his Sootopolis home. Exhaustion's heavy hand guided him to the stone-white house. The air inside is stale, thick with the pungent odor of the waterlogged city. His face twisted in disgust. [break][break]

"Fuck me." and fuck too. That bastard fought too hard for three on one. Killian prayed tortured the fuck out of him before getting what she needed. [break][break]

"Ugh." His body and mind screamed for relief, for the comfort of a memory foam mattress and cotton sheets. They'd get neither.[break][break]

It's been months since Deoxys and I became one, and our bond is middling at best. No matter what I do, it refuses to lower its guard again. It's only willing to cooperate when we're in danger, or I beg.

My frustration is mounting. What am I doing wrong?

If only it could speak instead of forcing me to interpret vague feelings. Maybe then we'd finally make progress.

The pink tinge on her cheeks said everything Killian needed. Today was going to be fun. "Wow, you want to watch? Summer. I didn't peg you for that kind of person." He hid the laugh at the edge of his throat behind a smile. [break][break]

It didn't stay for long, pushed aside by the shrug of Summer's shoulders. [break][break]

"You don't sound that broken up about it."[break][break]

He made for the door, stopping to beckon Loveless from her perch. "Come on, girl. We're leaving." The feline jumped from the top of one of the bookshelves. She strode across the carpet to Killian's side with all the swagger of a queen, tail flicking in the air as she passed Summer.[break][break]

The walk from the casino to the restaurant is uneventful. Killian spent most of it trying not to take in too much of Sootopolis's ocean smell. Impossible, but it never stopped him from trying.[break][break]

He stood across from the diner, leaning against a lampost. The place is hardly impressive. Made from stone like most buildings in Sootopolis, the moss and dark weathering of the brick gave away its age.[break][break]

"That's them." he pointed to a man and woman sitting by a window at the end of the building. The man had his back to the window, but Killian could see the woman's face. She looked annoyed, her brow knitted in frustration for one reason or another. [break][break]

"Why don't you take the lead."

LET THE GAMES BEGIN



Killian soaked in the praise like a sponge. Things were off to a better start than he imagined. "No, thank you for attending. Tonight wouldn't be what it is without you and the rest of our lovely gamblers." he replied to before turning to address . [break][break]

"The casino is quite the marvel." Killian smiled, "I hope your opinion doesn't change once your wallet starts feeling lighter." or was going to pay for Barnaby's gambling habits? He couldn't wait to find out. [break][break]

A refreshing breeze and the eargasmic melody of smooth jazz greeted everyone inside. Much like the outside, the interior is remarkably constructed, if not more so. The art deco style melds with modern aesthetics to make a work of art. [break][break]



Pokemon walk the floor, Gardevoir and Gothitelle carry circular trays filled with drinks to guests. Indeedee stand tall beside dealers at the black jacket and poker tables. Several Beheeyem accompany security guards on patrol. Patrons not caught up in the spectacle catch sight of a Rattata's curly black tail as it scampers into a purposely designed hole on one of the walls.[break][break]

The Minior float in above the guests and wander the casino as playful mascots. Killian's not far behind them. [break][break]

"If you follow me, I'd like to show off a few of our games." he beckons the small crowd to follow him to the roulette tables. "This one is called Galaxy Roulette. Step up and take a spin on the milky way."

THE RULES



MINIMUM BET: 1 CHIP - MAX BET: 3 CHIPS

Galaxy Roulette is a simple, modified variant of roulette. Characters compete to guess either the exact number of a single d100 rolled by the dealer or whether the result will be even or odd.[break][break]

A player who guessed the exact number wins x3 the amount they bet. Anyone who guesses the odd or even outcome will get x2 their bet. Losing bets go to the house.[break][break]

  • Both your bet and guess must be BOLDED.
  • If the dice lands on one of your Lucky Numbers and you guessed correctly, the win multiplier is doubled.
  • Using PAY DAY doubles the win multiplier for everyone playing. Multiple uses of PAY DAY don't stack, and each player can only use it once.

Tonight I gazed upon the stars, and it felt like seeing them for the first time. Thousands of distant lights, so brilliant and awe-inspiring that they left me speechless; I stared for so long before noticing something felt off.

The oppressive weight of melancholy sat on my chest. Mixed with a peculiar sense of longing, it formed a dangerous cocktail. One I recognized the taste of immediately.

I was homesick.

I craved the coldness of space and desired to drift about its soundless void. Expect it wasn't me who wanted these things. The stars weren't my home, but they were its.

Deoxys.

The first emotions I'd felt from it other than irritation and anger. When I pressed, it retreated. Before Deoxys sank into our shared mind, I touched something underneath its sadness.

Fear.

Of what, I'm not sure. But something out in space has it scared and unwilling to leave Earth. The meteor? I don't think so. Maybe it will tell me in time, once it knows it can trust me.

The metallic walls of the submarine suffocated more than reassured. A prison twelve leagues under the sea willingly frequented by its host. Why? He held nothing but contempt for this place, the people inside, and the surrounding ocean. Yet sleep found him despite danger lurking all around. [break][break]

It needed to understand.[break][break]

So it prowled, puppeteering stolen limbs down iron corridors, invisible to those it passed. And it came by many. Most of them worked like beehive drones. Others lazed about or spoke pointless drivel to any who'd listen.[break][break]

Then it found him. A human with an air of power that it couldn't explain. The other humans brushed passed him without a word or a glance. [break][break]

Strange. Intriguing.[break][break]

It followed.[break][break]

Camouflaged feet halted at the end of the hallway. It titled its head and met Adrian's gaze. Could the human see it? That couldn't be right. The others hadn't, yet Deoxys swore he was staring right at it.[break][break]

LET THE GAMES BEGIN



Killian returned Lex's smile, "I'm glad you're here." she bolstered his confidence to heights taller than the skyscraper they stood on. Not that his ego needed more of a boost. [break][break]

He took a deep breath as the spotlights clicked off, and Melody began to sing. "It's almost time. Once Melody is finished with her song, we'll greet everyone in style." Dramatic flair wasn't usually his thing, but a night like this called for it. He held Lex tight while they waited. [break][break]

Water erupted below, and every spotlight jumped to Killian and Lex on the roof. "Down we go." he faced away from the crowd and let himself fall, dragging into his arms as he did. Air rushed past his ears, but Killian barely heard it over the beating of his heart. [break][break]



Thump Thump Thump[break][break]

The moment felt surreal, like a fantasy come to life.[break][break]

Streaks of colorful light stained the sky while he fell. Those who attended the Star Soiree would find the sight familiar. Minior, eight of them, glowing the various shades of the rainbow. They zoomed past and landed around the fountain, forming a circle.[break][break]



Killian nudged the alien slumbering inside him halfway down the building. Using Deoxys for a parlor trick insulted the creature, but what was it going to do? Let him die? He winced at its irritation but felt Deoxys' psionic powers flood his veins as he and Lex vanished. They reappeared in front of the fountain a moment later, Teleported by Deoxys. [break][break]

Smiling wide despite the discomfort, he waved to the crowd. "Greetings, everyone! I hope you enjoyed that wonderful performance by miss ." Killian gestured to Melody and clapped. She'd done better than he hoped. [break][break]

"Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Killian Decker, proprietor of Casino Starlight and your host for tonight's festivities. Thank you for accepting my invitation."[break][break]

"I can tell by your faces that you're eager to get inside, but first -" [break][break]

He nodded to one of the workers, and they muttered something into their earpiece. Seconds later, several Gardevoir and Gothitelle came walking out of the casino. They held boxes in their hand and formed a horizontal line in front of Killian. [break][break]

"These boxes hold Poke Balls that contain the complementary chips we promised. More importantly, our the numbers on the top of the balls. These are your lucky numbers, and you'll want to hang onto them."[break][break]

Killian smiled but said nothing else. [break][break]

"Now, hurry inside and play amongst the stars." [break][break]

God, he hated giving speeches. If Killian ever did this again, he'd let handle all the talking. That man loved the sound of his voice.[break][break]
