The sun slowly crept across the sky. Slipping away as the two talked, like someone who was pulled aside as the opportunity to escape arises. Clouds overhead that once held white light now reflected the dark yellow of the burgeoning night. Among these clouds is the moon, fighting for attention with light it borrows from the sun.

"Then again, it may not be my place to say how close to nature people really are. I'm just a city slicker."

He refused to elaborate on this. He spotted something from the corner of his eye. Emboar. A gargantuan pig, whose nostrils flared at regular intervals. It nearly got the jump on them, were it not for the lingering scent that Musharna left behind. It looked a little... laid back. Like the pig was ending a long day of wrestling in the mountains. He whistled a simple melody, of the sort you'd find in a mobile above a baby's crib.

Gengar snickered, and looked up above them. It used Hypnosis. A wave of psychic energy seemed to make Emboar grow heavy, before it eventually laid down. He tossed a black ball with the red R on it at the creature, then flinched. It dawned on Giona that King knew. It was too late to play dumb, too. "Matter of fact, I was a little crazy to not switch out these pokeballs at the PC." He said, looking aside at King. He shook a little. It was like Giona was still waking from a nap.

"I'm in the uh, sanitation bid'ness. Billing department." He said, trying to summon a gentle smile. Nonetheless, it looked like he was still battling the sensation of just waking up. He drew slightly closer and lowered his voice, to avoid the acoustics of the mountain carrying the sound down to any wayward Ranger. "I do racketeering and new recruit training for Team Rocket."

Gengar then held its paws over its mouth and snickered, jogging back to the two. It then held out the ball for Giona, and Giona grabbed it, this time prominently displaying the ball to King.

The exact reason for neither man battling the other didn't matter. For Elijah not wearing him down, for Giona not neurotically starting a fight that didn't need to happen. Why does a lion eat a gazelle's liver first? Is it cuisine, or nutrition? Either way, the lion will eat the entire gazelle, rendering the question pointless. The two are the only combatants left, and it goes oddly quiet.

"Thanks. Couldn't have done it without you. Well... could've, but it would've taken a while. Either way, if you need my help in the future, here's my business card."

He said, before squatting until he was level with the ground. He scooped up Espurr in his arms, and turned to face Elijah. An upturned corner of his mouth makes a smirk, but not quite a smile. He extends a hand with his laminated trainer card, a card that at the bottom displays his contact info, and on the other side shows him making a vaguely annoyed look.

Embarrassed for her was closer to the truth. To need pointers on how to court someone, then to just fall into something and render it all a joke? It was like something out of a dream. He’d be having a harder time with that experience than her.

He lightened up, either way. He looked down and the corner of his mouth turned up in a smirk. "Either way, it’s nice that you have friends." He said, before looking down again. An outstretched arm tried to pull her up into a hug, which would put her head just above his shoulder if it worked, if only to avoid the sudden warmth on the front of his shirt. He was so fussy. If you turned on a heated car-seat for him he’d wonder if the feeling was kidney failure.

He smiled, and averted his gaze. Now, it was his turn to share. Just enough to open up, but not enough to scare her off. "I feel lucky. Like I met you at the right time. I would’ve messed this up if I was like I was... even a year ago. If you look me up; you can see the pictures. Pink hair, long enough to braid."

He didn’t elaborate on what exactly she’d find. Nothing good, probably.

He then attempted to walk the line between tender and chaste. To plant a little kiss like the one on her forehead, but this time on that span of muscle between the shoulder and the neck proper. "I felt like that too, as recently as March of this year. Meeting you was another big step towards figuring out what I wanted to be. And who I wanted to be for."

Oh! She seemed to regain her composure. To look at him and seem to come to life a little more. Nonetheless, she was embarrassed, moreso than usual. He raised a brow, more muscle than hair at this point. A friend tried to 'coach' her. He'd been coached by another man and thought nothing of it.

She elaborated, and he scoffed. Didn't even try to hide it. "It's true that you have to put yourself out there in the world to get what you want. But you made it this far without his help." He said, cowardly as always. He put it all on her again. Didn't want to confront the fact that he'd hit on and struck out with co-workers before. That she caught him when it felt like he was falling.

He smiled, and averted his gaze. Once again, he didn't like the idea of someone catching him off-guard. Even tried to scare Sam off to prevent that. "If you were trying to be anything else, it wouldn't be liking you for you, if it worked on me."

She leaned in. She found her head against his shoulder. Her red face and breath felt warm, through his linen pajamas. He responded by curling an arm around her, and pulling her back in, towards him. He then felt the need to explain that he was correcting her posture. "...I don't want you to hurt your back."

He smiled. Things were finally starting to fall into place and make sense. He had to circle back around to Oscar and Bryan first. Couldn't do it without . He just nodded, and adjusted in his seated position so as to not have his back to any of them.

By the time we got out, Zac and I helped Groudon tamp down the rock slides on the mountain. Then, Groudon fought... that thing with dots for a face. If I'm not mistaken, Siobhan and the Silphs were there. You're all caught up on where I was, now."

He tossed another piece of dried meat to Drakloak, then pinched the resealable bag closed. He made a warning gesture, and tossed it to . As a gesture of good will. He felt kind of bad about it all at this point, even going so far as to withdraw Drakloak, and call out Drifblim, his personal ride. Months ago he'd burned the prints right off his fingers. But between now and then, he'd regained them, as well as a few new ridges. Despite this one little boyish fear at the back of his mind, his hands were healed enough to hold hers. He'd been lucky enough to be injured in a place that got a lot of bloodflow, he wouldn't even be able to greet her, if a tendon snapped.

Her voice cracked. He loved pushing someone's buttons. Might be his favorite thing, aside from pretending to be in the mafia. But... he was so scared that she'd just faint! He had to say something. Had to sound concerned too, without going so far as to insult her.

"Are you okay?" He smiled, peering into her eyes. He let go with his hands, but it'd be up to her to pull away. "There's a drawer in the fridge full of canned sparkling water."

All the time in the world. It felt like wishful thinking. Like he wanted to be with her as much as he could, even as tensions mounted. Even as his two jobs pulled him apart. If they stretched him into his individual atoms, he'd want her to walk away with a piece of him. He smiled down at her, and planted a kiss on her forehead. "It was hard to think about at first, but now it's all I want."

He furrowed his brow for a minute. It was a heat of the moment sort of thing. started asking questions. Questions about the appearance and nature of this dragon. Even thinking about fighting that thing without aid from sent a chill down his spine. He'd be able to put this feeling to words soon enough, when chimed in. He made a gesture to Bryan, asking him to listen to his conversation with Oscar. To his bungled attempt to describe Regidrago.

"So, to answer both of you. Groudon vested power in me to get the other humans out of the way. To settle its grudge match with this other thing in peace. To call it a dragon was inaccurate. It was more like... a stone statue wearing a dragon's pelt. Didn't have a face of its own. Nonetheless, I'd know a Dragon Pulse when I see it."

He smiled, as Killian spoke up. As he offered aid once again. Seemed like time and time again, Killian stuck his neck out for this jumped up little rat, and only now was it paying off. “It means a lot to hear you say that, . Either way, I'll have to go back to Mount Chimney. We can look for your other home, between now and then. I'm certain that we kept the damage to just the mountain itself. But... that's terrifying. Like... picked up and rotated like a 3D model?”

The coming days would be busier than ever. Teams, pulled in two different directions. Some had to keep watching Sootopolis in his absence. Others had to be pulled into his orbit, pulled towards Groudon. Oscar's last comment rung between his ears like a metronome. Something was robbed from us. Another chance to seize power was right there, and he was a fool to ask everyone to sit with him for even a moment.

"I'll submit myself to your tests, . I'd be willing to go in a few minutes, even. I'd just like to elaborate on the spire, as well as the town being picked up and flipped first."

The arena's shape caught his one word command. Could he see, or was he simply paying attention with his ears to compensate? Either way, the word Retaliate rang throughout the room. It was like having a word stuck in your head, in a sensory deprivation tank.

The flash of white light that sought to burn didn't make its mark either. He shielded his eyes, but saw fit to return the favor and give Jayden light for a moment.

In response, the little imp lit up as a series of notes came, like a dubbed over wind sound effect. It responded with Burning Jealousy, a plume of orange flame that lit up the whole room and sucked out any humidity, while it stood at the center. usUZAql_

Tensions mounted. Torn between his new League job and his lifelong Rocket duty. That’s the thing about these wise-guys. The hustle never ends. He had a perfect excuse for why he didn’t come to their aid, as Razz expected him to when they first met. Groudon was right there.

Putting that aside for a minute, there was that Silph family. They’d seen him at the mountain. The girl had even seen him at his prior arrest. The arson charge, though horrific, was more respectable than the poaching he also could’ve been pinned for. He rolled the dice. He sent a gift to the eldest Silph, essentially a local baron in his home of Rustboro. Giona is gifting Kubfu to Fernando Silph and thinking of himself the entire time.
