That was surprising, even to Eve, who had not expected to see the Lycanroc go flying like that. It had certainly seemed like the stronger Pokemon, physically and in mentality. But type advantage and a confusing fight probably added to all that, too. “I just feed it the normal flakes,” Eve replied, as if mechanically, for she wasn’t quite sure what else to say there. Plus, that came before she could even think about the question.

Meanwhile, Remoraid came to the surface, trying to scout out what happened. Due to things proceeding on the island, so she could not quite see what was happening. “But I guess it just always tried to be the strongest in order to somehow fit in with its school. They were shunning it for its odd colouration when I met her.”

That was what it had been waiting for. The Wailmer raised its fins, clearly trying to do something. Remoraid reckoned that it was doing something to try and force it out of hiding. But it was planning on doing that, anyway. Just it wanted to do so on its own terms – specifically, it wanted to capitalize on that very moment. Once the Wailmer was distracted, Remoraid would assault it from below with the most powerful Psybeam yet, clearly intent on knocking the big fish out of the water with all it got.

Eve, in the meantime, was doing her best to follow that battle. “I actually hoped that no one would get salty about the outcome of this battle…” she noted, sounding sullen but also smirking. Sometimes, the bad puns just overcame her.

The Hammer Arm once more meets a Wood Hammer as Chespin retaliates in the fierce melee. It knows quite well that it is physically weaker than the other, but it is still trying, as if it wants to force its way through on sheer force of will. “I am not so sure, though,” Eve replied, watching the proceedings. It seems like she is in quite a bit of thought there.

“He did that last few times as well. But I think he only considers a victory a proper proof, no matter how well he fights. And he seems a bit obsessed by it. I am not sure that is really all that healthy…”

Well, not like she would ever visit Galar. In part because she feared that she might not be welcome, in part because her father would probably get insanely mad if he found out she went on her own. The kinds of stories he always told her about the place had quite belied his hate for it, after all.

The two Pokemon disengage briefly. “He might be small, but he is definitely a fighter. Also, most of my Pokemon are female, so I do think that he at least feels like he has something to prove.” He and Vulpix, really. Odd little creatures sometimes. And right now, the two clashed again, Chespin falling into the Spirit Break while delivering a body slam of its own.

There was a sudden flashback to her battle with a certain gym leader. However, unlike that one, this trainer apparently did not aim to make her Pokemon throw up, just to win. Which already made them about twenty times better in her book.

However, there was still the issue of Vulpix helplessly hanging in the air, clearly suffering. It was spent on Infernos for the time being, and seemed to become disoriented.
Ah, well, this was some experience gained after all. Fine enough. So, she recalled it as it fainted. “Hmm, well, I guess that was three draws and three wins in a way for you. Though I reckon the organizers of this event won’t see it that way.”

Well, that started strong, didn’t it? Barely out of the ball, that little imp came at Chespin with a punch – but it was met by a Wood Hammer in return, the two attacks clashing and neither seemingly finding pursuit just yet. These two were physical fighters, so Evette could already see this becoming a bit of a slugfest.

“That Pokemon is from Galar, isn’t it? I have heard of them, but never seen one in the flesh,” Eve noted, keeping at least a bit of a conversation going for now.

Ah, so she did know him, nice. And she agreed, that man was a nice person. His markings made him look quite intimidating, but due to a combination of meeting him without seeing him – mostly due to being sprawled out on a Lapras and leisurely chatting – and having seen him fumble in battle, Evette just could not see him that way. “He is certainly a good person. If a little bit weird,” she thus noted, lightly chuckling.

Naturally, she had assumed, much like with Sam himself, that the actual living was done at least in a house. But it was still very different from growing up a pampered girl in Lumiose, she simple figured. “Hmm….I don’t think I am any type trainer. I do like my ghosts, but I also like other Pokemon. Plus, I am merely a singer on a journey, I don’t think specialization in training is anything befitting me anyway.”

Hmm, one egg fainted, five remained. Did that mean this was actually more akin to a six on one? Difficult to tell. Vulpix was a little bit confused, having believed that it was more or less fighting just one Pokemon right then. Yet, this seemed like they were several?

Also, why was the ground getting smaller? Vulpix suddenly struggled as the extrasensory lifting it in the air. In a knee-jerk reaction it let out another Inferno from its mouth, albeit not aiming that well at all. Who knew if it even hit?

“Same here,” she replied. There were a few that she definitely want to see again. And others she did not care for. But, as always, she naturally gravitated towards the more positive experiences. It was part of being a figure of public attention at home. There were so many people that she simply had to ignore, but those of actual interest, she barely forgot those.

This boy was probably still working his way up towards the latter. Not to demean him of course, or anything like that. He just has more of an uphill battle now was all. “I am ready, of course. Chespin will be my choice.”

Ah, well, it was regrowing, apparently. That was good enough for both Evette and Vulpix. The latter had shut down the Giga Drain for now, slightly reeling from that. But now that it no longer felt like it was bullying the eggs too much, especially with them trying something weird and psychic-y, she simply started and dashed towards them once more, utilizing another quick attack in the hopes of finishing them off without breaking them apart too much.

After all, they were here to win a fight. Not make an omelette. So breaking some eggs was completely optional and not something one needed to do.

Wait, that was not how this was supposed to be played! The Remoraid felt really weird being pushed back up before it landed. And it could not exactly do anything about it, since it was already in the air. Gravity was kind of unforgiving in these kinds of moments.

So, all it could do was to just keep being juggled by Water Spouts. Didn’t quite hurt as much, but it was annoying. And it was kind of lost.
Fortunately, it had a trainer. “Remoraid, to the left Hydropump in 3, 2, 1, now!” It just obeyed, naturally, and found itself being pushed sideways by the kickback, back into the water a few feet away from the Water Spout. And it immediately went under, trying to hide for the moment in all this madness going on, so it could later ambush the bigger Pokemon.

Tabula Rasa. Well, Tabula almost Rasa, but that always been the point. Soundproof protected Pokemon from Perish Song, so she had figured that other means of not hearing it would, too. Which, in this case, meant that both Remoraid and Lycanroc, both too far away from the source and underwater, had not been affected. A real pro move, one could say. Only she had not actually known it would work out this way, just mostly hoped it would. This wasn’t exactly the kind of thing she could easily test on her own.

Yet, trainers did not faint either, even though Perish Song affected humans. So there had been a basis for her theory. And besides, the worst that could happen here was a draw, so there was that.
But now, it had been reduced to a one on one, with Lycanroc jumping back into the waters. The little fish got punched, but it stayed close in the hopes that it could manage to hit the Lycanroc with its Hydropump and push it straight back out of the waters.

A hand was offered. A hand was taken. Simple as that. Though her own hand was probably a lot more delicate than the other’s. Sure, Eve had done some physical stuff by now. But it certainly did not compare to three years on a volcano. “Hmm, Mt. Pyre….I defeated a caretaker from there yesterday. samuel carter was his name, I think. Presumably still is. If you lived that long at Mt. Pyre, you might know him,” she replied, hopefully getting that right. Though, admittedly, that man could have just as easily lied about all of that.

Ah, well, good enough for now. “So you do not know a lot about it either. Intriguing. I guess I will have to ask a professor about it later. This one does look like the kind of Pokemon I might be interested in acquiring one of my own. It would certainly help make an entrance, if nothing else.”

Okay. She didn’t know this one. Approaching, Eve raises a brow at the odd Pokemon. She had seen a lot of horses this tournament, including a shiny Glarian Ponyta of all things. And yet, this one….she had no idea. According to the pretty rider, it was called a Spectrier. A name that appeared to be quite fitting indeed.

Yet, that didn’t tell her too much. For the moment, she just assumed that it was a ghost type. “Good evening, madame. I do not mind, though I have to admit to not knowing just what kind of Pokemon this is. Seems like a rarer species….” She trailed off briefly, looking at the pretty horses in a bit of a trance, before remembering something. “But where are my manners? I am Evette Moreau, a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
