After all, confidence and presentation were the hallmarks of a good songstress. Plus, putting on a bit of a show might get the girl to feel better about her loss. Certainly, she did not appear to resent it or anything like that, but there likely was some disappointment still.

Plus, this was all in good fun. “I am sure others can give better advice than me here in this tournament. I only have the best singing voice by far. Saying that, she would stride towards the other. “And I meant what I said. If there is one thing I am good at, it is getting a good impression of people. Not that it is very hard when one has mannerisms such as yours.” The cute ones, that was. Eve would nudge towards the side where there were stalls and whatnot. “So, what do you say we grab ourselves a bite and have a proper little chat or something, yes?”

“I don’t think anything that is related to work is allowed to count as ‘cutting loose’ per definition,” she replied, tapping her lips. And honestly, she would know, being in the entertainment business. Yes, going all out on stage was rewarding, intense and could feel a bit like that. But it was also full of worry and obligation. As far as she understood it, cutting loose meant mostly ignoring consequence and just doing what you wanted. Though the lines admittedly got blurry when it came to doing things one liked.

But, to stretch an horrible analogy to create a forced segue, Ponyta liked fighting. It did not like being lifted off thr ground with psychic force briefly, causing it to careen off to the side instead of getting where it wanted to go. Hence, she angrily just threw out another Flame Wheel. “I used to be like that, all work, no cutting loose. I like it, too. But now that I have been travelling for a while, I learned what that truly means. I can only recommend it.”

Good, good. He was doing well to rebound from what had happened. Good pronunciation, being polite and interested. That was much better than being gloomy and mysterious than he had tried before. Though, admittedly, the latter did fit his appearance more. If he wanted to be like this, he probably should comb his hair back, put some colour into his attire, maybe use a cute Pokemon like an accessory. It did not even have to be a Pichu or other bay Pokemon. Something like her Chespin would be enough already to make her more approachable.

“A few wins, a few losses. I did learn a lot, which was the important part. And I got to meet some interesting people.” They arrived by now, taking position opposite of one another. And speaking of Chespin, she called forth that one. “You?”

Wait. What happened if that shell broke? Did they….die? An alarmed brow was raised and even Vulpix seemed to recoil from the sound. It wanted to win after all. But she did not want to kill. After all, who wanted to? This was a tournament, not a war.

However, that meant that she was hit square by the Gigadrain, which was decidedly not the way she wanted to help that Pokemon not to die. Instead, it, once more being reactionary, used Imprison on the little eggs in front of her. That was definitely a non-lethal way to do it. Hopefully at least.

“Oh trust me, I did want to cut loose,” she replied, half smirking. With that woman she’d met there, cutting loose had seemed like a good prospect. But getting such a public and thorough rebuttal still made it all rather weird. At the very least, it had kept her from cutting loose much more afterwards.

Well, aside from getting a bit too drunk. But that was neither here nor there. Meanwhile though, things were getting hot here, and it was someone else who felt the burn. However, there was already a psychic attack coming in. It used Agility, trying to throw off the aim of this by creating afterimages of itself.

“Is that something you like to do? Cutting loose?” Eve did notice the drink in the woman’s hand, after all. It was odd enough to find a beauty battling, finding one with a drink in hand and a shiny Vulpix? That was fairly stylish in a way.

She did get better at this, didn’t she? Or maybe, she always had a bit of a penchant for battle and just needed to believe in herself or something like that. Honestly, Eve wasn’t too good at this. But she could definitely see the other flourishing, which made her smile more. Hence, improvement somehow.

The Bagon could take one Moonblast meanwhile, but the second was a bit much, so Eve recalled it anyway. Type advantage was the real deal, after all. Though she was not completely sure that the girl had chosen it fully on purpose.
Then again, Foongus had woken up by now and was just done firing another Solar Beam at the opponent, hoping to this time knock her out completely. “Most of all though, your Pokemon seem to fit you pretty well. Cute, but with talent and strength. I think that is one of the most important things about being a trainer, really.”

That hit hurt – both of them. But the OG Ponyta took a bit less damage. Nevertheless, she retreated a little, creating some distance between them again. “It was a lot of fun. People just got a bit too….liberal with the shots, really. One might have thought they were getting paid to drink or something,” she replied, chuckling. Granted, it had happened to her, too, but she hoped that not too many people would recognize her from that eve.

Meanwhile, Ponyta resurged, sending a Flame Wheel from a bit of a distance, as if it too was more of a psychic type rather than a fire one.

Good to know. She would have to reconsider utilizing that move wantonly in the future. For now though, Vulpix was thrown backwards from the impact alone, while the exeggcutes somehow managed to stand tall. Probably because they could just roll back…up again?

Eh, didn’t matter. “Quick Attack through the smoke,” she instead ordered her Vulpix, which suddenly rushed forwards, trying to headbutt all of these eggs at once. “It certainly did. But let us not do that again. At least not while I stand so close.”

Eve’s lips pursed a little when she noticed him tensing up from behind. She got to him there, didn’t she? But she did not want to make him too uncomfortable. “But as I said, do not worry. All is well, this is all in good faith, Danny,” she thus added, giving a little recompense to him.

“I am Evette, by the way,” she added, giving it the proper Kalosian pronunciation. So that he would not get it wrong, that much was for sure.

Ah. The nod of oblivion. She knew that too well. It was something she often got when she went full Kalosian. Today though, she was not going to do just that. Instead, she tried to focus on the battle at hand.

Fortunately, Vulpix was scared enough by the sudden appearance of a massive, incoming solar beam. Scared and a bit confused, the little Vulpix quickly opened its mouth and unleashed a huge inferno to block that beam somehow. Or at least hit back hard.

Well, naturally the war of hooves went nowhere. That was why it ended in a draw in 1693, after all, forever cementing Galar’s status as a failed nation. Or something like that. Father’s stories were probably not accurate history lessons, but sadly, they tended to stick more than the actual ones.

If it was about anyone other than Galarians, she would probably care to rectify that. For the time being, the Psychic served to push Ponyta back, slightly bucking in a bit of pain. But it was back up again quickly, trying to Flare Charge the enemy right away.
And in the meantime, the trainers talked about nicknames. “Oh, don’t get me started on preferences. I ran afoul those during the opening ceremony in a pretty bad way,” Eve thus replied, laughing at her own misfortune.

She laughed loudly. Well, since she was a reptile, that sounded a lot more like croaking. But she laughed nonetheless. That little bunny had finally croaked. Well, it wasn’t quite dead yet, naturally. Best to leave your prey with an inch of life so you could enjoy that later. Now all she needed to do was wat and see until these other two had taken out one another.

And then, she would reign sup-zap! Suddenly, she was hit with a lightning bolt – from above, where the Pikachu had gleamed into a hole in the ceiling. Bedazzled, Salandit fell into the wood at the side of the small building, shattering it as she passed through, fainting. The last she saw was the Pikachu’s maniacal laughter and victorious posing.
That dark and ominous….”Pika-Pi.”

“Don’t worry. On any other occasion I would have found suddenly being approached by a gloomy, dark character to be mysterious. And probably a little bit dangerous,” she replied with a bit of melodical laughter. He had really brought that upon himself with that getup, in her opinion.

But still, all was in good faith and good fun. Especially in a public place like this. Though he was admittedly trying to goad her towards a more deserted section of the beach….

…which still was in view of others anyway, so that didn’t mean much. “That seems like it would work, yes. The sand here is already dredged up by man and Pokemon alike, anyway.”

Well, it wouldn’t have been her fault anyway, so her worries had certainly known limits. Plus, the Vulpix got a little payback when it suddenly smelled something odd in the air, crumpling its nose and shuddering, trying to retreat from what it was. However, it was briefly stuck, unable to move there, as the paralysis took hold.

“Don’t worry, I don’t worry,” she replied. It was an allusion to an old Kalosian song, but she realized that he probably would not get that. Probably just made her look weird. Oh well, that could not be helped at all, now could it?
