[attr="class","danny"]casey's encouragement helps a lot — he'll need to repay the favor after this. his heart settles in his chest as the camera starts to go off, clicking and flashing almost to the beat of the music. he focuses on that instead and loses himself in the lo-fi.

it isn't until he hears the zipper being pulled before he does the same to his. but after a blink of an eye, the shoot's over, and the two of them are free to go.

"that was...uh...fun?" he says to casey as they step away, approaching the door that leads back to the changing booths. "thanks for helping me out, mate! that was some top-tier advice."

[attr="class","danny"]weeks pass before she finally reaches out. he had spent the first two weeks glued to his phone, glancing at it at every passing minute, hoping it'd buzz with a text from her. for two weeks, he sat in vain, but even after the third week there was a part of him that hoped for the best. and sure enough, the text finally came.

he hadn't expected it to be so awkward. but she did kinda ghost him, so it was hard to just pick up where they last left off.

"hey, serena," he says, approaching. the smile he wears is held back a little by the situation. still, he tries his best. "how...how have you been?"

[attr="class","danny"]though he's not entirely sure what she's thanking him for, he dips his head in a nod regardless, not wanting to overcomplicate things even if his brain's telling him to.

it only takes a bit longer for the last pancake to finish cooking. he soon scoops it up, slaps it onto a plate, then adds the finishing touches. he extends one nicely decorated plate over to her and reaches for his.

"here you go. pancakes made by yours truly. it's been a while since i last cooked, so if they're bad..." he chuckles, setting up the perfect excuse. "counter or sofa?" he asks, leaving it up to her to decide where to eat.

and even though he could've stayed for much longer, he decides to leave not long after that, but not before making sure to give her his number.

[attr="class","danny"]danny has never quite taken the expression 'watch and learn' as serious as he is right now. two models go up before him and he watches with keen eyes, observing and analyzing every single thing they do. he focuses on the foot on the waist-high cube; he could do that, he thinks, but he's pulled away by casey's voice.

"sit...alright i think i can do that." he's not disregarding everything else casey says but his mind simply chooses to focus on the first thing that's said to him. he nods mostly to himself, deciding that yes, he can definitely sit. and soon enough their turn comes.

casey, like a natural, gets into a pose. heart pounding in his chest, danny almost trips on his way over, but the recovery he makes is...somewhat smooth. he turns and sits on the cube, mind trying its best to remember all the pictures he's seen while browsing instagram. surely there's a pose he could steal...

and sure enough, he gets into one: he brings one leg over the other, crossing, and brings a hand across his body to latch onto his other shoulder. the tracksuit's long enough that it raises to cover his mouth just a little as he leans forward. he finds the lens and waits with his heart in his mouth.

[attr="class","danny"]lagging behind, he watches the other models slip into their changing booths. right — he should probably do the same. too bad he doesn't realize in time. the assistant comes up behind him and practically ushers him into the booth themself. he can hear their sigh even after the door closes behind him.

there, he's slid a tracksuit similar to casey's, and he quickly changes into it before slipping back out now dressed in a comfortable fitting white tracksuit. though lanky to some degree, the suit doesn't hang off of him as much as it does with some of the others. his eyes flick over to casey as if searching for guidance.

thankfully, he's ushered into the photography room next door by the same assistant, who by this point danny suspects to be properly sick of his inexperience, which is definitely fair.

"hey," he says, pushing slightly through the others to catch up to casey. "help me out a bit, will you? i'm out of my element here."

[attr="class","danny"]surprisingly, angelo's rough encouragement works to some degree. it only builds spite, a growing desire to prove this man wrong, and it's enough to fuel him for the rest of the run.

"fine — i'll see you at the end!"

for the record, it ain't five minutes, tops.

the rest of the run takes a good seven, maybe ten, and he pulls to a stop in front of their destination. with his hands on his knees, he pants, breathing quickly in a depserate attempt to catch his breath.

"did i beat you?"

[attr="class","danny"]oh! another small electric rodent to add to his collection. actually, he decides he'll gift this one to a friend, remembering that she had always wanted one.

"sure, give me a sec."

not literally.

he waits for the electric-type to approach and again, like he had done before, he extends a treat out towards it. dee pokes her head over danny's shoulder and curiously observes the other rodent.

the wild minun takes it, then peers up to look at danny. it gestures up to his other shoulder, perhaps wanting to perch up there as well. he nods, extends his hand down, then lifts the electric-type up onto his other shoulder. he feels a jealous NUZZLE from the other side.

"right! let's go get dinner."

the suggestion lingers in the air for her to pick up on. he's in the middle of giving grimmsnarl a good old pat on the back when her voice pulls him away. but it's what she says that catches his attention.

"what? keep him? are you sure, robbin?" he doesn't outright deny it because to be honest he has grown quite fond of the dark-type. he turns to look back at the grimmsnarl, then shrugs. "i mean, if you're sure...and i guess if grimmsnarl wants to."

it nods.

[attr="class","danny"]there's a large field outside oldale that they used to frequent when they were younger. he remembers they'd spend hours there but it sure didn't feel like hours. they'd run, hide, and even nap on occasion. he's only reminded of good things when he thinks of it.

now, they're back as adults.

"i hope you know what a bad idea this is for you." he nudges greyson's shoulder as they walk. "you ready to buy me dinner, grey boy?"

danny suddenly feels all eyes in the room shift to him, some wondering, some glaring, many likely wondering how a complete newbie's managed to sneak their way into a shoot like this. little do they know of his...two hundred followers?...fuck. maybe they had a point.

"yeah, hey, i'm danny. i don't mind going last, you know, based on seniority and experience or whatever."

despite that, the assistant's already ushering him forward. they had little time to waste, it seems. he glances over the many different colors, debating for moments, and settles on white.

a bold choice.

"i'll just go change, then?"
