”Oh,”, Mason hurriedly wiped his then wet hand, due to the water that had condensed on the cup he touched. ”Mason Moore,” he replied with a smile, his hand shook hers. Despite being very shy, Mason can be quite friendly, especially when the other person is friendly as well.

     ”Oh, this, no, it’s okay,” he sheepishly chuckled at the mention of the book. ”I can read this any other time,” he declared, still quite shy with the sudden social interaction.

    Still wearing that smile, Mason ran towards where Vesty was. He picked it up carefully and cradled it. ”Hey buddy, you did great.”. Vesty was weak and couldn’t move, but he could still look at his owner with his blue eyes. The Larvesta seemed to be happy despite losing. 

     Mason looked up at the other trainer who spoke about how Vesty will one day turn into a powerful Volcarona. ”I’m sure Vesty will ask for a rematch by then,”, he chuckled softly, knowing how his Pokemon liked to battle and compete.

     ”I’m sure he will always remember this day and your Tristan, thank you for giving him the chance.”.

    The battle grew even more intense. Mason knew that the Hurricane would end the battle immediately, but Mason was not going to give up yet, neither did Vesty. 

     ”String Shot yourself!” Mason cried, he had done this technique before in the tournament. The Larvesta enveloped itself inside a cocoon of its own threads. Though it won’t be enough to withstand the full force of the roaring winds. 

     The white cocoon was picked by the Hurricane, its winds slowly shredded the silky threads away before damaging the Larvesta a little. ”Balance with Ember!”, it was all that Mason could think of to reduce the overall damage that could have been done by the storm. The Larvesta lit five of its horns on fire, attempting to balance itself in the air to reduce the chance of getting confused.

     Mason felt like he was hanging by the thread. Unknowingly, his fists were clenched and teeth gritted. Eyes were sharp as hawk, assessing the situation and his mind was on wild fire.

tldr; Larvesta used String Shot on itself to reduce the damage done by Hurricane. The Hurricane shred the String Shot away and still managed to damage the Larvesta. Larvesta then used Ember with five of its horns to remain balanced up high in the air.

    Mason jumped high in the air and cheered as Vesty’s Flare Blitz made contact. He didn’t know that Pokemon battles could get this intense and fun. 

     Though, the fire from the move was so intense that Vesty suffered some damage as well. Mason could see that the opposing Pokemon, Tristan, suffered some serious damage, not to mention the lingering flames still on its skin. 

     It took a while for Vesty to regain balance from that hit, when he looked up, he saw the Accelgor giving him a nod. Mason heard how the Accelgor’s trainer explained that Tristan recognises Vesty as a worthy opponent. Mason couldn’t be more proud of his Pokemon, a smile formed across his face.

     Without any warning, the Accelgor released Water Shuriken, and Vesty had no energy nor the time left to avoid it. He and his trainer accepted the defeat. But it was not in vain. They accomplished something quite remarkable that day.

tldr; The Water Shuriken hit, KOing Vesty.

    There was no avoiding the Bug Buzz. But both Mason and Vesty know that there was a bright opportunity for them. They just had to push through a little more. 

     Vesty took the Bug Buzz attack head first, but he didn’t stop running. He and his trainer had the same idea of what needed to be done. ”Flare Blitz!”. The already flaming Torch Pokemon surrounded itself with much more intense fire. An inferno circled around Vesty, as he ran, red flames trailed behind him. 

     The Larvesta focused on one thing only at that moment. To hit the Accelgor with all it got.

tldr; Vesty took the Bug Buzz damage. But it kept running and used Flare Blitz.

    Mason wondered around the land of Hoenn again. This time, he stopped in the sweet Oldale Town. He loved the atmosphere there. Everything was so peaceful.

     One day, after he trained his Pokemon in the nearby forest, he decided to relax and unwind in a cafe. His back leaned against the wooden chair, and his eyes were fixated on the novel he was reading. A half-eaten croissant laid on top of the table along with a cup of iced latte. 

     A voice pulled him back from his fantasy world. He looked up to the owner of the voice. ”Oh, no, not at all.” he answered and immediately closed the book and set it on his lap. Not knowing how to act afterwards, he awkwardly grab his cup of iced latte and took a sip from it.

    Mason was on his toes when the Accelgor had used Water Shuriken. So when the Accelgor released the acid from its insides, Mason shouted, ”Flame Charge away!”. It was the only way to escape from both the silky threads and the oncoming acid. 

     The Larvesta’s body bursted into flames. incinerating the strings from earlier. The Torch Pokemon instantaneously ran aside from the direction of the Acid Spray, missing it by a few inches, and began charging at the Accelgor.

tldr; Vesty uses Flame Charge to get out of the cocoon and avoid the Acid Spray. Then it charges at the Accelgor.

    Everything happened so fast. The Dragonite flew up high, its knuckles charged with electricity and it moved so fast Mason almost could’t see it! Adrenaline kicked in, he shouted at the top of his lungs. ”AIM LOW AND FOLLOW UP WITH BUG BITE!”.

     The Larvesta was already in a Flame Charge state, even if Vesty hits Draco the power of the attack would severely be lowered, but it might be the only way for the small torch to avoid the cackling punch.

tldr; Vesty tries to avoid the punch by aiming at the underbelly of Draco with its ongoing Flame Charge, if it hits it will follow up with a Bug Bite

    ‘A follow up,’ an idea flashed in his mind as Amor said that. It sounded crazy to him, but considering the situation that he was in... it should be worth the try. 

     The boy and his clothes were already soaked from the pouring rain. He noticed that Amor was idly standing, perhaps the man just wanted to see how he would overcome this? To think about it, the Dragonite could have probably ended the battle with just a single move. He needed to flip the table and make things favourable to him.

     ”Vesty do you trust me?!” he shouted through the rain. Vesty’s horns ignited, showing that he would go through anything with his trainer. ”Alright, Bug Buzz!” the Larvesta screeched and released red waves that pains the head of the listener. ”Now use Flame Charge around the field to speed up!”, Vesty’s body were engulfed with red flickering flames, a torch amidst the rain, he then began to run around the field as instructed by his trainer.

     ”Now simultaneously use String Shot!” Mason had never asked any of his Pokemon to use two moves simultaneously. He was scared that it would be too much, hence why the idea was crazy, but Vesty managed to do it! As the living torch ran around the field, it spits out silky threads towards the dragon.

    Mason couldn’t say anything. It was like as if his body was petrified and an impending doom was upon him, especially when the older man brought out his Dragonite.

     But that was not until Amor told the boy the same advice he had given when they first met and battled the Beeheeyems. Mason closed his eyes and clenched his jaws and fist. He then took a deep breath in. ‘Acting is better than not,’ Mason repeated to himself. His body was no longer shaking, and flames flickered in his eyes. 

     He got the first move, and he’ll act on it. Mason knew that Dragonite is a Dragon type and a Flying type, none of his Larvesta’s move was effective against the Pokemon. But he must not give up there.

     ”Vesty, String Shot!”, threads-like silks were released from the Larvesta’s mouth and flew across the field towards where the Dragonite was standing.

     Mason had battled with many trainers. He could tell that his battle knowledge had ever since improved, but there was still a lot of room left for growth. Mason was walking around the beach with his Larvesta, Vesty, when suddenly the voice of announcer boomed throughout the beach. ”Oh look Vesty, there’s going to be another battle, let’s go watch them,”, he said to his Pokemon.

     As the two walked over to the crowded area, the announcer shouted, ”and today we will witness the battle between Mason Moore!”. The crowd cheered but the poor boy froze in his tracks. The crowd parted to make way for him to walk over to the battle area, but he simply couldn’t move! The horror didn’t stop there though, ”and Amor Rose!” the crowd cheered even louder.

     Mason knew who his opponent was. He knew this moment would come, but still he was kinda- no, hella scared. He grinned at the cheering crowd weakly as he tried to walk towards the battle area. Once he reached there with Vesty, he swallowed the lump in his throat, knees slightly shaking. Though his eyes showed that he was eager to battle.
