You came across a building made of only white bars. It formed square holes that one might assume that glass planes were supposed to fill the holes. But greenery intertwined the white bars with no difficulty, showing that there were no glasses inside the squares. You could see flowers and vines sprouting wildly around the greenhouse. Despite it being wildflowers, it added to the aesthetics of the place. Once you enter the greenhouse, a cobbled pathway welcomes you, an archway claimed by nature filled your peripheral vision.

Once you made it across, you could see pots and plots, hanging and buried, on tables and under tables everywhere around you. The cobbled pathway downsized as you walk further. You couldn’t help but to hear the soothing sound of falling water. You turned to look for the source of the sound. You saw at the edge of the greenhouse a miniature waterfall, with a pond underneath it. There was no doubt that someone has put in some effort to make the glorious work of landscaping.

⚘ plots and pots ⚘

    Mason smiled as he received the sack and the berries. It was somewhat his first step towards being a Pokemon trainer. ”Thank you,” he said towards the farmer.

     The boy looked up as Amor concluded. A spark flashed across his eyes as the word ‘tournament’ was mentioned. Though the thought of battling the man in front of him frightened, and excite(?) him a bit. ”I’ll be lucky if I don’t find you,” he joked.

     As Amor rode onto his Dragonite, Mason waved at him ”Thanks for helping me out!” he shouted so he could be heard. 

     When the tall man and his Pokemon was no longer in sight, he walked off to continue on his own journey.

     

    It took a while for Mason to register what the other trainer said to him. ‘Come with everything they’ve got?’. Something then clicked in him. Though he couldn’t help but to laugh a little when the Accelgor gave a face at his own trainer. Tell me how that is not amusing. 

     ”Good job Vesty!” Mason exclaimed as the Flame Charge hit. 

     The boy and his Pokemon were in luck because the opposing trainer warned him of it first. Without thinking much about it, Mason shouted, ”Vesty use String Shot on yourself!”. Mason didn’t know where he got the idea, probably from watching those countless Pokemon battles on TV when he was a kid and that sudden memory just came to him in that tense moment. 

     The Larvesta encased itself in a cocoon of silk, protecting itself from the oncoming Water Shuriken. Mason let out a breath of relief he didn’t know he was holding. If that Water Shuriken had hit Vesty it would have been over for them.

    Mason simply listened to Billi talking about strong Pokemon and Larvesta. The boy looked at his Pokemon and wondered if he would be good enough of a trainer to make them stronger. He simply sighed. Wondering about it won’t do much about anything. 

     He turned to face the man, ”If you don’t mind me asking, I was wondering what you were dong here.” he asked, clearly trying to change the subject.

    The Turtwig took the full blow of the psychic energy, it flew back across the field. ”Twiggy!” Mason shouted, a trainer scared of his dear Pokemon. After having crashed to the ground, the Turtwig tried to stand back once again. 

     Mason gulped, the atmosphere was tense. Was Twiggy going to make it? Or will the battle end there? To the boy’s relief, the Turtwig was on all fours, and his eyes darted at the Slowking. 

     Mason knew what his Pokemon was thinking immediately, “Razor Leaf!” he exclaimed. The Turtwig shook its head, a series of blades of leaves appeared and were making its way towards the Slowking.

    Mason was surprised when the opposing Pokemon intentionally took the hit. Mason was then even more confused when it used a Bug-Type move next. He wondered what his opponent was actually up to. Vesty didn’t take that much from the Bug Buzz, ”Vesty retaliate with flame charge!”. It was the Larvesta’s favourite move. Flames cloaked the Pokemon as it began to charge towards the Accelgor.

    Mason watched how Amor’s Pokemon executed their own tasks. He was awed by it all. ‘So this is what a 20 years experience looks like,’ he said to himself. Amor praised his own Pokemon and Mason noticed that, following in the older’s man footsteps and praised and congratulated his own, ”Both of you did really great,”, he said to Vesty and Twiggy while rubbing the Pokemon’s heads. He then returned them to their Poke Balls. ”Coming!” Mason said while he tried to catch up with Amor. 

     Mason didn’t say anything besides a small ”Thanks,” when Amor complimented him. He simply didn’t know how to response to that. When they reached the farmer’s wooden house, the farmer was already waiting for them. This time, when he was talking, he looked at both of them and not only Amor. “Oh thank you, thank you. Please take this as payment for your troubles,” the farmer said while handing out two sacks along with 2 berries on each sacks.

    Mason was taken back a bit. He was sure that he could handle it on his own without having to go to any school, he just didn’t know that a trainer should not join in the battle. It was only that that he didn’t know. ”A-Alright, thanks. I’ll look into that,” he lied only because he didn’t want to be rude. Plus the woman was only worried about him after all.

     Mason and his Larvesta ducked a little to minimise the attack launched by the opposite team. He grit his teeth and held onto the rope. He need to pull much stronger, ”Vesty, Bug Bite!”. The Larvesta bit at the rope and pulled harder.

    Mason had never heard such names before. But oh well he didn’t know a lot of things. Mason tried his best to say it as the woman said it and pulled it off. ”Nice to meet you Evette,” he said cheerfully, his words genuine. 

     The word parents left a pretty bad taste in his mouth but he didn’t want it to get to his head so he just opened his mouth and let whatever words come out of it. ”Well, you see, I...”, his words then became very fast in the next line, ”don’t really have any of those and just recently started becoming a trainer,” as if he wanted to make it less awkward he added, ”so... yeah... guess that’s why I don’t know any of the stuffs you said before, so thanks again, for telling me.” he sincerely thanked her.

    Mason laughed softly when the other man mentioned how weird some Pokemon were. When the man praised his Turtwig he could only look at the turtle Pokemon and whisper under his breath with a smile, ”He is,”. Mason laughed a little again when the Chespin noticed him. The Chespin was too adorable!

     ”Oh!” Mason completely forgot about the fact that he was being chased. ”Well there was a Gengar. It had this devilish smile and eyes filled with malice intention.” he described the Shadow Pokemon. ”Sorry for interrupting you and sorry for bumping into you Machamp,” he apologised after remembering what he did.

    Mason stood up, still rubbing his sore cheeks. As she explained how his idea was dangerous and all, he chuckled a little. When she was done explaining he leaned down towards his two Pokemon and give both of them gentle pets, ”I didn’t know that before, thanks for telling me. I just did that because I didn’t want them to get hurt.”

     The boy looked at the woman again, ”But I see it now, Pokemon can fight for us but they need a trainer to do so. Without a trainer, they won’t be able to fight as effectively so it is crucial that I stay safe and alive,”. The boy did just recently became a trainer, so he still had a lot to learn. 

     ”Oh yeah my name is Mason,” he said while giving the woman a gentle smile of his.

    Mason had a bad feeling when his opponent used a move to speed up his Pokemon. It was as if he had a gut feeling that he was up against an experienced Pokemon trainer, just like the trainers he battled before.

     But he could not abandon all hope then, he should at least try, ”Vesty use Ember!”. The Larvesta’s horn tips glowed a bright red before flames escaped its mouth and travelled towards the Accelgor.
