As the preparations went on, there was a knock at the door that Cardamom hurried to answer. A tall, surprisingly buff man with strawberry-blonde hair laughed as he strolled in, the flowers cradled in his arm. "How's my favorite nibling?" he asked, ruffling Cardamom's hair cheerfully. The boy chuckled, reaching up to muss it back into place.[break][break]
"Uncle Basil!" he laughed. "You made it!" He turned to call for Michi. "Mrs. Michi! Where should the flowers go?"[break][break]
Once the flower arranging was sorted, he decided to poke his head outside to see if anything needed to be done there. To his surprise, he saw the shrine set up for Jirachi, as well as the paper for wishes. Picking up one of the papers, he placed it close to his mouth, whispering a wish into it before folding it into the shape of a star, then bending down to place it at the shrine for Jirachi.[break][break]
"Wish-maker, bless this day," he whispered. "Bring happiness to this couple, and joy to us who attend."

As the trainer and the two Bug-types relaxed, their moment of calm was suddenly interrupted by something squirting water at them, sending Nibs tumbling head-over-tail as she landed hard in the sand, head spinning. Cardamom let out a gasp, spinning around to see a Gorebyss rising out of the surf, rearing back to strike again. Biff dove off her shoulder, teeth bared and ready to sink into its scaly skin, but bounced off the Barrier it had put up. Undeterred, the small Pokemon let out a determined "Par!" before diving in to continue his attack, clawing and biting even as he was pummeled with watery strikes again and again.[break][break]
"Come on! You can do it!" called Cardamom, pumping her fist into the air. Even as she cheered Biff on, she quickly hurried to take a look at Nibs. The Scatterbug seemed somewhat dazed, but mostly alright, and when Cardamom extended a hand quickly scurried back onto her shoulder to get a better look at the ongoing battle. Despite its attempts at defense, Biff was slowly wearing the Gorebyss down. Finally, Cardamom called out a "Halt!" as she pulled a Pokeball from her bag.[break][break]
Biff paused, turning around, then scurried back when he saw what she was holding. Even as the Gorebyss surged after him, Cardamom took a deep breath and hurled the ball, ready to capture this fiercely fighting fish.

Focusing on the stuck shard, Cardamom was at first unaware of how the artificial sun was reacting. However, illeana reyes's declaration caught her attention, especially when the woman headed forward to pull out the stone herself. Cardamom tensed, but she was pretty sure she couldn't do anything herself to help with that.[break][break]
...especially once the Solarbeams started raining down. Banana Bread let out a worried bellow, immediately moving so that most of his bulk was shielding the rest of the group. His leafy wings glowed in the sun as he tried to use Synthesis to restore his energy and hopefully survive the hit.[break][break]
Cardamom hissed, grabbing a pair of Pokeballs and switching Nash out. Half-Moon materialized on the field, looking around. "Can you try and stop those?" she asked, pointing up at the sun and the beams it was firing. The Obstagoon nodded, hurrying forwards and raising her arms to Obstruct the attacks. Bam, looking around, noticed siobhan burke's Toxapex and quickly started making signs to imitate it, summoning her own version of Baneful Bunker over everyone nearby.[break][break]
tl; dr: Banana Bread uses Synthesis to recover some health and tries to stand so that he's protecting Cardamom. Half-Moon uses Obstruct to try and block any Solarbeams that come near, while Bam uses Copycat on Baneful Bunker for additional protection. Would prefer Half-Moon faint first.[break][break]

Cardamom blinked a bit in surprise when he saw the hands, but Pokemon could be strange like that, so it wasn't too surprising. He nodded, looking over at Half-Moon. "Hey, can you help manage the stall for a bit?" he asked. The Obstagoon nodded, carefully taking out the price sign they used for situations like this and setting it up for anyone who happened by. Shin, already vibrating with excitement, rushed over and hopped onto Cardamom's shoulders, making him chuckle.[break][break]
He stepped out from behind the stall, looking around before pointing at one of arena clearings lying around the beach. "How about over there?" he suggested, already walking towards it at Shin's insistence. "Someone's pretty excited to get started," he added with an additional chuckle.

Banana Bread seemed triumphant at first, hovering in place as he watched his opponent start falling. And then he realized that it hadn't gone unconscious, but was executing a controlled fall instead. He immediately started diving down as well, trying to get out of the way, but despite his best efforts the Rotom was soon fast on his tail, and the electricity hit him hard, surging through his entire body and leaving his leaves singed, and him still spiraling slowly downwards. However, despite the exhaustion, he summoned the last of his strength, calling forth the last of his energy to try and send a final Leaf Tornado at his opponent.[break][break]

Nash stared around at the group, his eyes focusing most on the Riolu as the small Fighting-type appeared. The Ninetales' Psychic attack simply washed over him harmlessly, not even having to dodge. He let out a low snarl, crouching as he continued watching the situation. "Don't worry!" called Cardamom. "You know how to handle Fighting-types, right?" The Absol let out a slight growl of agreement, before his eyes flashed a pink color as he gazed at the Riolu. Nothing seemed to happen, but Cardamom knew the Future Sight would hit, even through a protective move like that.

Thankfully, they managed to bypass the attacking Archeops without getting mangled or off course. Flying upwards, they finally got a good look at Groudon and the general situation on top of the mountain. It...didn't look good. Despite the sun speeding him up, Banana Bread also looked like he was tiring somewhat, so close to this heat. Now that they were close to the top, he started to glide down, preparing to land.[break][break]
Cardamom nodded, patting him on the neck. "You did good," she reassured him, before looking closer at Groudon. There was...some sort of shard stuck in its body? Was that what was causing it to act out like this? She felt around her belt, before taking out Bam's Pokeball and sending out the small Riolu, who bounced to her feet and started looking around.[break][break]
"Use Copycat," she murmured, gesturing at illeana reyes's ponyta. "Help get that stone out!" Bam nodded, her eyes glowing as her paws moved in several signs, the glow shifting to a pinkish color as the telekinetic tugging on the stone increased.[break][break]
tl; dr: Banana Bread lands due to the heat. Cardamom sends out Bam and has her use Copycat to imitate Galarian Ponyta's Psychic and help pull out the stone.[break][break]

Cardamom hummed to herself as she strolled down the beach, one Bug-type sitting on each of her shoulders. Nibs was clinging to her, looking around curiously at the sand and water around them, while Biff was more enjoying the ride, eyes half-closed as he was carried along. There had been a brief lull in the various happenings of the tournament and their food stall, and she was taking this time to relax and get to know the two Bug-types more.[break][break]
"I promised to show you the ocean, didn't I?" she asked Nibs softly. "I hope it lives up to your expectations." The Scatterbug let out a satisfied squeak, making Biff grumble a little, but not in a particularly aggressive way.

After the chaos of the blades shooting everywhere, it seemed for a moment like they could get a break. And then time went haywire.[break][break]
"What?" exclaimed Cardamom, glancing around at the tears in the world as ancient Pokemon seemed to rise again. "What...what's causing this?" She was pretty sure time manipulation was not one of Groudon's inherent powers! Of course, she had little time to ponder the specific details, as the Archeops flock came charging towards them, combined with the several near-crashes around them. It seemed like the others had that handled, at least, and Banana Bread was less suited towards helping with a soft landing like that. Still, she hesitated for a moment, wondering whether she could still contribute something to help.[break][break]
However, a squawk from a nearby Archeops made that decision for her. "Whirlwind again! Keep going forward!" she called, and Banana Bread dutifully sent another spiraling wind towards any Archeops that might get too close, sending them flying far away from the group. His wings spread wide, his Chlorophyll absorbing the sunlight to drive him onwards faster. Nash's eyes were already glowing a bright pink as he started watching the path ahead even more closely with his Future Sight, ready to call out a warning if any Archeops suddenly came charging their way.[break][break]
tl; dr: Banana Bread uses Whirlwind some more, this time to blow away the Archeops, also uses the sun to fuel his Chlorophyll ability. Nash uses Future Sight to watch out for any sudden ambushes.[break][break]

Cardamom smiled, taking the money and putting it away in the box his family had set up for this. It was unlocked, but there was almost always a Pokemon guarding the stall and the money box, and it was highly unlikely anyone'd manage to steal from it. His eyes widened even more at Ruby's story, looking quite excited to hear it.[break][break]
"Wow, really? She sounds like she was almost a guardian angel for you or something..." He looked over at Half-Moon, patting her on the arm. "Half-Moon's been with me since childhood too! Though she was already part of the family at that time. She's just assigned herself my own particular protector." The Obstagoon let out a proud huff at that. Of course she was going to look out for the smallest member of her human pack.[break][break]
When she accepted the challenge, the Teddiursa pumped both his fists in the air, doing an excited little dance. Cardamom chuckled, before reaching over to flip the pastries. After a bit more sizzling, he scooped them into a bag, before smiling over at Whisper and passing the bag over. "Your treats, madam," he said with a slight bow. It just felt right, to show this kind of respect for the ethereal Pokemon.

The blast of draconic energy struck Half-Moon, sending her skidding backwards, one foreclaw digging into the ground. She slowly stood back up, charging forwards again at her reptilian opponent, but before her claws or head could connect again the combination toxin and burn finally caught up to her, and she dropped in midcharge, her unconscious body skidding forwards just the slightest bit more before coming to a stop.[break][break]
"Oh man..." muttered Cardamom, withdrawing Half-Moon as well. "It's okay, you put up a really good fight..." he murmured, before looking over at Lars and smiling. "That was a good battle!" he called. "And I think it was pretty good for Bam's confidence." She'd held her own to some extent against a legendary, after all.

Half-Moon charged onwards through the flames as they came at her, letting out a yowl as the flames sunk into her skin, inflicting a burning pain on top of the poison already present. Unable to see her opponent clearly, she simply lowered her head and rushed forwards, trying to attempt a final Headbutt before the combination of the burn and the poison took her out.[break][break]
Cardamom let out a soft hiss when the Reversal hit, but didn't seem effective enough to actually bring down the Silvally. "Bam, you did good!" he called. "You can-"[break][break]
"Lu!" she interrupted, crossing her arms. Staring at the Silvally as it came charging at her, for the first time in this fight she acted without being commanded, rushing forwards to Copycat the Multi-attack, meeting each of the Silvally's blows head-on with her own matching one. It was clear that she was reaching her limit, but somehow she managed to push through, standing until each of the Silvally's blows was finished. Then, and only then, did she collapse to her knees, then forwards, clearly unconscious.[break][break]
"Bam!" cried Cardamom. He quickly withdrew her, glancing over to try and see the state Half-Moon and her own opponent were in.

A battle royale! Fighting against three trainers at once! Cardamom had been a bit nervous about the idea, which was why Luke had suggested Nash be the one she brought to the challenge. The Absol was actually already loping along beside her, his eyes darting back and forth and his blade at the ready, despite its cracked, pitted state. The family had done their best to take care of it, but even they could only do so much for the level of damage it had sustained over time. Nonetheless, the Absol was a vicious and determined fighter, and Cardamom knew he was quite capable of standing strong even without the use of said blade.[break][break]
Once they reached the beach where the battle would be taking place, she saw that one other person was already there. She lifted a hand to wave. "Hi!" she called. "Are you here for the battle royale too?" Nash was already moving to stand in the makeshift arena, pawing at the ground as he waited for his opponents to arrive.

Half-Moon struggled forward, trying to reach her opponent before its attack hit her, but was struck by the wave of poison that sunk deep into her already-envenomed muscles and went down to one knee, groaning. The toxins in her body continued to sink in, making her groan again. However, she struggled back to her feet nonetheless, and with a bark lashed out to attempt a Night Slash against her opponent, her body still working to turn the toxin into an advantage for herself.[break][break]
Bam, meanwhile, looked frozen in place as the legendary's trainer switched out its attached disc and lunged towards her as if spurred on by the wind. Cardamom hissed. It was extremely clear that the Riolu was almost at her limits. However...it was rushing towards her, now.[break][break]
"This is your chance!" he called. "Reversal!" The Riolu turned slightly upon hearing the command, and nodded just the tiniest bit before closing her eyes and focusing, placing her paws together as the legendary rushed closer and closer. As it was almost about to hit her, her eyes snapped open, glowing with Aura as she lunged at her opponent with paws extended, trying her best to transfer the feeling of all the damage she'd taken over this battle.
