For a moment, it seemed like the flight upwards would be smooth sailing. The Moltres (a Moltres! and she was pretty sure she'd seen a Heatran going into the caves! there were so many legendaries to encounter here!) had provided them with a handy Tailwind, making their path that much faster.[break][break]
And then the mountain erupted in stone. A quick yip from Nash was what gave Banana Bread enough time to bank to the side and avoid a stone pillar that would have skewered them otherwise, but she could already see more stone spikes breaking through. And those glowing shards and veins definitely didn't signal anything good. Nash's attention was already focused on trying to predict which of those would be the most immediate threat, but there was still the ever-present danger of smoke and ash. Cardamom reached into her backpack to grab a towel-there was no time to properly moisten it, but she wrapped it around her face anyways, before directing Banana Bread to glide forwards.[break][break]
"We need to deal with that ash. Blow it away!" she called. The Tropius started flapping his wings harder, calling up a swirling Whirlwind that would hopefully catch much of the ash and embers before they could hit the flying group. He made sure, of course, to angle it so that he wouldn't end up blowing it at any other member of the party.[break][break]
tl;dr: Nash continues watching out for exploding rocks, Banana Bread uses Whirlwind to try and blow away some of the smoke and embers! Cardamom puts on an improvised face mask.[break][break]

A strange sort of Metang, who encountered Cardamom and Luke while they were shopping at the night market and tried to steal one of their corn dogs. Despite their mechanical nature, they seem fascinated by organic life and behavior and have often been spotted aping the various humans in the Bliss house. Cardamom does their best to accommodate those preferences, such as getting them their own toothbrush for chassis-polishing instead of teeth-brushing.

Cardamom grinned over at Michi as he finished up arranging the other treats his family had brought. "Yeah!" he said. "My dad and my big brother too, and Uncle Basil's driving his own way over." And then soon after he mentioned said uncle, he became aware of Alexei Ivanov calling for help with the flowers. "Oh, hang on a moment!" he called, rushing over to his dad, a glasses-wearing man with short black hair. A few words were exchanged and a call was made, and Cardamom offered a thumbs-up in Alexei's direction. "Uncle Basil says it's on the way for him!" he said. "He'll grab them on his way over!"[break][break]
Feeling revitalized by helping to solve the problem, he dived at the balloons next. Luckily, he knew just which of the Pokemon on his team would be helpful for this. He grabbed Half-Moon by the claw and offered up the balloons to her. She quickly became aware of what he was asking, and with surprising delicacy managed to start inflating the balloons passed to her with her own breath, before passing them off to Cardamom to tie in knots and arrange in the proper pattern.

How had it come to this? Cardamom's family had simply intended to visit Mt. Chimney to see some of their family friends, until they heard the rumbling of the volcano and the roars of Groudon. At first, she'd wanted to stay away, but as she waited she started seeing a few familiar faces moving towards the foot of the volcano. People she knew from the tournament. If they were all trying to stop this...why shouldn't she help too? She had almost a full team, after all. She'd packed several supplies into her bag, along with a collection of various baked items from the family bakery. And plenty of water, of course. Luke'd pressed Nash's Pokeball into her hand with a nod as she set out to join the rest, ruffling her hair lightly and whispering a "come back safe" into her ear.[break][break]
Now, though, it seemed the big issue was how to get up there. At least it seemed like other people had Pokemon who could power the cable car. However, a few other people had apparently had different ideas. Cardamom turned as samuel carter offered up teleportation as an option, but shook her head, sending out Banana Bread and climbing onto his back. "Thanks, but I've got my own way up," she noted. "Banana Bread can fly me up there, and he can take one other person too! Although having your Absol look out for us is a good idea." She palmed Nash's Pokeball and sent the Absol out, stroking the fur on his back. "We're heading up this mountain," she murmured. "Keep an eye out for anything that might hit us, alright?" The Absol growled affectionately in agreement.[break][break]
tl;dr: Cardamom sends out Banana Bread the Tropius and Nash the Absol, prepares to ride Banana Bread up the mountain. She offers for one other person to come along with her, with Nash on alert for any potential disasters.[break][break]

Banana Bread winced as the wind came flying at him, shuddering as it passed through his body. He faltered in his flight for a moment, dipping lower as he glared up at the ghost darting back and forth. Cardamom racked her memories as she tried to recall what berry Banana Bread had-it was a Dragon-type one, right? So it wouldn't be particularly effective in this case. She'd just have to hope that the Tropius didn't run out of energy before the Rotom collapsed.[break][break]
"Keep that up!" she called. The Tropius nodded slightly, both wings spreading wide as he summoned yet another Leaf Tornado. He was definitely tiring, though he still seemed determined to take his opponent down as fast as he could.[break][break]

Half-Moon saw the poisonous attack coming, and simply spread her arms wide, letting it hit her full-on. Her fur sizzled slightly as it was stained purple, but a grin spread across her face as her body started working in overdrive. She lunged forward, already slamming her head towards the Salazzle with a Guts-boosted Headbutt, though she staggered slightly afterwards as the poison worked its effect on her. Cardamom simply called out a "Good going!" in her direction before turning to focus more on Bam. He let out a slight hiss as he evaluated their options. She still had options for getting in close, but keeping her distance might be safer.[break][break]
He shook his head. For now, he'd try to have her stay at range. "Copycat again!" he called. She nodded slightly, raising her paws and working them in another set of signs. The boulders the Silvally had summoned seemed to reverse direction, flying back towards their originator to crash down behind it. With the direction she'd chosen, she was apparently hoping that even if it didn't hit, it would drive the Legendary back into melee range.[break][break]

Cardamom had finally managed to convince his parents to let her on one of the boat tours around Slateport Beach. Of course, Half-Moon was coming along as a precaution just in case something untoward ended up happening. She was pretty sure she'd be safe, but she let the Obstagoon hang around in the background anyways, just in case. However, in the middle of the ride, she noticed the water starting to stir, and several Lapras surfaced. She let out a soft gasp, and reached into her pocket for one of the family pastries she always carried, along with a Pokeball. Maybe, just maybe, she could lure one of them over with a treat...[break][break]

Soon, the siblings had collected a collection of corndogs in various sizes (their Pokemon also wanted some, of course), and were walking along nibbling on them. Eventually they came to a spot where there was less of a crowd, as well as a convenient wall for the siblings to sit down on. Grinning, Luke plopped down on the wall, Cardamom hopping up to sit beside him. Bam and Shin quickly wriggled their way onto the wall as well, Shin instantly reaching out to grab his teddy-sized corndog. Half-Moon stayed mostly standing, though she did lower herself into more of a squatting position so her head was still aligned with theirs.[break][break]
Nash stayed curled up at their feet, though he did reach up to grab a stickless corndog in his teeth, tearing and ripping at it with fervor. As Cardamom closed his eyes and lifted his corndog to bite into it, though, he suddenly found himself biting down on nothing but thin air. Opening his eyes, he saw his corndog floating away, being carried by a strange blue glow.[break][break]
"Hey!" he exclaimed, scrambling to his feet and looking around to see what was going on. "Who's doing that?" Nash had instantly sprang to all fours, growling low and scraping his claws against the pavement. Half-Moon was also instantly on alert, looking around and snarling softly as she tried to track the flying corndog. However, in the end, it was Bam who, after focusing, managed to pinpoint the location of the corndog thief. Leaping into the air, she grabbed hold of a floating Metang's claw, letting out several yips to signal she'd found the thief.[break][break]
"Wow, I wasn't expecting that," muttered Luke as he looked up at the sky. The Metang was gripping the corndog in its other claw, slowly mashing it against its face.[break][break]
"Awwww...I think it's just confused," murmured Luke. He placed a hand on Nash's head as the Absol crouched to lunge. "It's okay, boy," he said, looking up at the Metang. "Hey there!" he called, waving. "Sorry for bothering you, but that belongs to my little bro! But I can totally buy something for you if you come along with us." The Metang let out a few confused beeps, before slowly floating downwards towards them, Bam hopping off to land lightly on the wall. Slowly, it held out the now-mushed corndog to Cardamom, who accepted it carefully.[break][break]
"You know," he added, "we've got more treats back where our parents are waiting. Want to come along and meet them?" He held out a Pokeball gently, offering it up carefully.

Cardamom and his family had been both surprised and grateful to be offered this catering opportunity. The Bliss family had leaped at the opportunity to both help out a regular customer and spread the word of their bakery to more people. They'd stayed up rather late baking various tarts and cakes, along with some savory bread rolls, but the real centerpiece of their effort was a giant mixed-berry pie drizzled with multicolored syrup.
