Cardamom heard the order and immediately moved to cover her ears, closing her eyes as she ended up feeling the vibrations of the sound nonetheless. Unfortunately, Banana Bread didn't have the limbs to do the same, and received the full force of the Rotom's scream. He let out a pained bellow as it reverberated through his body, making his very bones vibrate. Still, upon seeing the Rotom flying higher, and Cardamom unable to give a command, he fought through the paralysis trying to freeze his muscles up and started flapping his wings, climbing higher and higher as he prepared to summon another Leaf Tornado, hopefully reaching upwards enough to toss around the ghost that had been causing so much trouble. Cardamom, watching this, smiled just a bit, since that was pretty much what she would have ordered in this case anyways.[break][break]

Cardamom winced as the smell of singed fur filled his nostrils. Half-Moon herself only let out a huff, as if asking if that was all her opponent had. Still, she hadn't managed to do any damage at all yet, which was definitely worrying. Meanwhile, Bam had dropped to her knees after being hit-at least it hadn't been point-blank range like the Salazzle's attack, but that previous Metal Sound had made her pretty vulnerable already. She stood up shakily, putting her paws together to focus for a moment before preparing to rush in again.[break][break]
Cardamom frowned a bit. Half-Moon was already rubbing her claws together in preparation for an attack of her own, and he figured he knew what she was going to try. On the other hand, Bam couldn't keep chasing after her opponent forever-alright then. "Bam, don't go melee! Use Copycat!" he called. The Riolu perked up and stopped in place, her paws moving in a complicated series of signs before she suddenly sent her own blast of flames flying forth at the Silvally. Half-Moon, meanwhile, took advantage of her opponent still being close up to suddenly swipe downwards with a single claw, dealing a vicious Night Slash towards the Salazzle.

Half-Moon raised her arms to block the attack, but it did nothing to lessen the impact, stunning her for a moment despite the relatively minor amount of damage it did. She let out a low, warning rumble in her throat. "Hang in there!" Cardamom called, although his voice was slightly worried. "She can only do that once!" Meanwhile, Bam continued rushing closer to the Silvally, palm outstretched, before it erupted into a horrid screeching, one that had Cardamom flinching in place as well, crouching to cover his ears. The Riolu stumbled in midrun, her ears going flat against her head as the glow of her Aura dimmed for a moment, though she still tried to stagger forwards and slam her paw into her opponent anyways. The impact would definitely be greatly lessened by her loss of momentum, though.[break][break]
"Stay close!" called Cardamom. Bam's techniques were all melee-based, so the closer she could stay the better. "Switch it up! Metal Claw!" The Riolu nodded, raising her paw again before it gleamed with steely energy, darting in to strike at the legendary's side.[break][break]

Cardamom narrowed his eyes as the Salazzle appeared-he'd definitely have to watch out for that poison, although Half-Moon already looked ready to try and take advantage of that. However, the next Pokemon to appear broke the unofficial bipedal pattern. That large, gleaming head fin, that metallic head...Cardamom had heard about the Type:Null and Silvally species, of course, but he'd never had the chance to see one in person until now. And he hadn't expected to encounter one in a casual battle like this. For a moment, he just stared, stunned for a moment, before focusing again.[break][break]
"Um...okay! Half-Moon, you take the Salazzle! Bam, focus on...Silvally! Start with a Force Palm!" Oh Arceus, he couldn't believe that he was in a position where that line made sense to say. Half-Moon was already moving, turning towards the Salazzle and raising her claws up above her head, waggling her tongue and fingers to Taunt the lizard into targeting her. Meanwhile, Bam darted forwards, her palm glowing lightly with Aura as she prepared to slam into the legendary as hard as she could. If she was lucky, she'd manage to paralyze it.[break][break]

Cardamom nodded. "Alright!" He gripped both Pokeballs tightly, before tossing them into the air as smoothly as he could. "Go! Half-Moon and Bam!" He'd actually secretly been practicing this maneuver for a while yesterday, trying to get it down so that it looked impressive instead of embarrassing himself when the balls slammed into each other or dropped without opening.[break][break]
It seemed the practice had paid off, since a bright light shone out of both balls, materializing into the two bipedal forms of Half-Moon the Obstagoon and Bam the Riolu. Half-Moon yawned casually, stretching out her arms, while Bam was more excited, hopping back and forth on her feet. Cardamom grinned. "Alright girls, you ready?" They both made affirmative noises, staring down the field as they waited for their opponents to materialize.

As the siblings continued on their quest for fried food, Nash suddenly froze, sniffing the air before crouching and growling. A yellow streak darted past, and he lunged for it, chasing and zigzagging after it. Behind him, Bam rushed off as well, the two Pokemon darting surprisingly gracefully between everyone's legs before simultaneously striking down the tiny yellow lizard, who was unable to outrun both of the speeding Pokemon.[break][break]
Once that was handled, the two headed back, Nash holding the fainted Helioptile in his jaws. Luke chuckled, leaning down to pet him on the head. "Good job, boy," he said. "Now drop it, okay?" The Absol seemed to purr for a bit at the praise, before releasing the stunned Electric-type and batting at it a bit until it shakily got back to its feet and scampered away. Cardamom laughed a bit when he saw Bam pouting, and reached out to give her a similar affectionate pat.[break][break]
"You did good too, girl," he noted. "Now come on, I think I see some corn dogs for sale over there!" With a smile, the group rushed off in the direction of the greasy, well-battered smell.

Cardamom has purchased a portable camping set that's easy to carry around and set up almost anywhere, though since they haven't traveled away from home too much they usually just use it to cook in their backyard.

As night fell, the Bliss family packed up their beach stall and headed back to their hotel. However, that didn't mean the fun had to stop. The Bliss kids had decided that today they'd be checking out Slateport's night market, and their parents had let them, only telling them to be back home before 10:30. That still left plenty of time for the two of them to explore![break][break]
"So, lil bro, got anything you particularly want to try?" asked Luke, gesturing at the stalls all around them. Nash the Absol was stalking along behind them, his talons clacking quietly against the ground, while Half-Moon walked beside the two boys, helping to clear the path. Shin was riding on Luke's shoulders, while Bam hopped along beside the two, occasionally darting off to peer at nearby stalls.[break][break]
"Well," said Cardamom with a grin, "how about the greasiest, unhealthiest, food we can find? I think we deserve a little treat here, don't we?"[break][break]
"Sounds good to me!" laughed Luke, as the two siblings set off to find which stall was selling the greasiest, most battered fried food.

Cardamom had figured out pretty fast that it was actually kind of troublesome to be both helping run the booth and participate in battles at the same time, especially once he started scheduling battles instead of just jumping into a fight with whoever wanted to pick up on a challenge. That was why he was running as fast as he could towards the location of his next scheduled fight.
[break][break]The boy arrived at the arena and skidded to a stop, bending over and panting with his hands on his knees. "Sorry!" he said, huffing a bit. "I got caught up in some family business, but I'm here now!" He looked up to smile slightly at Lars. "You're my opponent...Laurence Anderson, right? And this is gonna be a double battle?" He had two Pokeballs with him, which he lifted up demonstratively.

She blinked in surprise when the woman took out her phone. "Oh-oh, of course! Just remember to tag it with where you got them from, please?" She took the money, counting it out and blinking a bit in surprise when she realized she'd gotten a tip as well.[break][break]

Cardamom watched the pair as they discussed. He could appreciate a trainer who took the time to carefully ask their Pokemon's opinion on things like this. He grinned a bit when the witchlike Pokemon pointed at the pastries being grilled. "Well, that's a good choice!" he said. "They'll be ready fairly soon, so you won't have to wait long at all!" He named the price, one that was actually a bit lower than the usual bakery price. After all, they were less well-known here, so a cheaper price would mean more people buying for now.[break][break]
"That's a really lovely Pokemon you have there, by the way," he added. "Have you two been together long?" Shin, meanwhile, had paused in his batter-stirring, and was staring intently at the witchlike Pokemon. He slowly reached out to tug his trainer's sleeve. Cardamom blinked for a bit, before nodding. "Oh! Um...are you participating in the tournament? Because Shin's been eager for a fight for a while now."

"Close your eyes!" yelled Cardamom, but it was too late. Already the Tropius was mesmerized by the flashing lights, unable to break free of the paralysis in time to avoid seeing them. He struggled to move, his wings slowly spreading wider and flapping towards his opponent, but as he tried to dash in closer he suddenly veered away, his neck twisting in midair as his head slammed into one of his own forelimbs. He tumbled in the air for a moment before righting himself, looking very haggard.[break][break]
"Banana Bread!" called Cardamom, looking extremely worried now. "Can-can you still fight?" The Tropius didn't seem to hear her for a moment, but finally let out a low bellow, still determined to face his opponent to the end!
