Only the luckiest and most daring will succeed. Some may need to set off on boat to get close enough to toss a pokeball, after all.[break][break]

Magical thing about Hoenn was how something as simple as taking out your trash could lead to something almost miraculous.

Have you ever seen a herd of Lapras congregating and playing just beyond the shore and harbor? If you had you probably mount up on your Gyarados like Sénon did to watch them for a while just outside the perimeter of their gathering.

Weary as a lone Lapras might have been in sight of a Gyarados the gathered herd didn't pay the rageful dragon much thought. With a free pokéball ready the ranger waited patiently for a Lapras to break away from the group.

Particularly, one of those purple-ish ones.

He imagined they would disperse on their own sooner or later. If not, there would be a huge problem when the SS Tidal came to port.

a bunch of lapras? they hadn't seen one of those in a long time as they hurried down to the shore to try and get a look. they had been rare in kanto and even rarer still here in hoenn. homura didn't want to risk not getting to see one while they could. from the shore they waved excitedly from the shore, trying to get the attention of them. especially since some of the pokemon were strange colored. a weird purple. it looked nice though. maybe one of them would want to be their friend?

Adrian had never actually found a Lapras in the wild, so when it'd been reported that they were swarming along Hoenn's coasts, he was one of the first to arrive on a speed boat. The engine whirring in the background and the ambiance of the rolling ocean waves were all he could hear for miles. It wasn't until several hours later that he'd finally started to see other boats, and eventually spot his first Lapras.

It seemed happy, and based on its size he would've guessed it was a juvenile, prompting him to stow the pokeball he'd grabbed. Cutting the engine, Adrian lowered an anchor and allowed the vessel to drift while watching the waters with a set of binoculars. If it was meant to be, he would get another chance.

Having heard the news of Lapras swarming in nearby waters, Derek wasted no time getting his things together for a nice day out on the water. Wearing typical beachwear, his time on the boat was well spent conversing with the other trainers as well as the captain before taking to the water. A red and white floatie was all there was between him and the swarm that began to pass by, Derek singling out one of Lapras and attempting to get it's attention.

He did this by throwing a pokeball, hoping to either capture the pokemon, or provoke it into doing battle with him. The suspense of the moment drove him up a wall, having already observed other trainers beginning to stake their claim on the swarm. He doubted it, but Derek always hoped to be one of the lucky ones. Only time would tell...

Robbin had her own Lapras now, Pup, but who would be complaining about having two of them. They were a perfect transportation in the water.

She hasn't had the chance yet, but she wants to sail on a lapras like a boat and go fishing.

"Maybe you have family here Pup?" Robbin asked. Her lapras now sported a white scarf so she wouldn't loose him in the swarm of his own kind.

Pup chirped and did a little spin in the water. He glanced around curiously but not exactly the most expectantly. Robbin let it go. She grabbed a ball and leaped onto Pup.

"Onward!" She shouted, pointing out towards the sea. Pup went out, weaving through lapras, trainers, and other stray pokemon.

Robbin threw her ball, hoping to catch.

Cardamom had finally managed to convince his parents to let her on one of the boat tours around Slateport Beach. Of course, Half-Moon was coming along as a precaution just in case something untoward ended up happening. She was pretty sure she'd be safe, but she let the Obstagoon hang around in the background anyways, just in case. However, in the middle of the ride, she noticed the water starting to stir, and several Lapras surfaced. She let out a soft gasp, and reached into her pocket for one of the family pastries she always carried, along with a Pokeball. Maybe, just maybe, she could lure one of them over with a treat...[break][break]

What an adorable group of lapras. He wondered for a moment if the breed was considered a turtle, a whale, or maybe a mixture of both? He knew they were based on some kind of legend, but he wasn't entirely sure which one.

Oh well.

"They're like, nature's boats, y'dig? Stick that in your pan and let it sizzle."

A very chilled voice came from a man with a mustache, a yellow hat, and some overalls came. Was he collecting ... scallops?

At any rate, Sam'd really just gone out on a charter to view the lapras for himself. Swarms like these were a joy to witness.

If something caught his eye, he'd throw out a pokéball and try to capture it. A lapras could be very useful going to and from Lillycove city. He wouldn't have to constantly take the fairy to and from each shore.

Not that he minded taking the fairy.

The weather was pleasant, and there was Lapras in the water. An excellent day for a spot of fishing. Resting peacefully in his rented boat with his legs kicked back and brimmed hat over his face, Onyx waited for a nibble. Deflated beach balls sat on the floor. After he caught a couple of fish, he'd see if the Lapras wanted to play.

aaron and his feraligatr putter across the sea in search of the rumored pod of lapras. he shifts uncomfortably atop his pokemon's back and watches, jealous, as ships full of trainers zoom past him across the great blue expanse toward distant lapras-like shapes.

"i knew i should've rented a boat for this," he grumbles under his breath.

he catches up eventually and joins the chaos, his feraligatr ferrying him in a wide circle around the swarm. when he finds an opportunity, he throws a pokeball at one of the lapras.

You know that Chu-e guy who always did these? Fuck that Chu-e guy. It was Temp's time to shine, damnit.

While not officially a 'water' trainer' Temp really liked pokemon from the sea, so if anyone was going after a Lapras when they were swarming it would be him. He also lived in Slateport and often traveled via boat or Wailmer back to Pacifidlog, so it was an easy as breathing for him to be out in the ocean!

It looked like a small cluster of people had already found a little pod. Harassing the poor things... but wasn't he just as bad? Easing over while riding on Velma, he, too, tossed a pokeball with all the people present.

Who needs a boat for transport when you're the avatar of a sea god?

Lugia's broad wings slice through the water far below; it's the shadows upon the surface that alert Gavin to the swarm of Lapras overhead, the flash of purple fins catching the sunlight. There's no need to ask Lugia to surface. No sooner has he thought of securing one of the transport Pokemon for himself than Lugia's tail curves like a rudder through the sea.

I'll be right back.

They can't safely breach without attracting attention, so Gavin kicks off from the legend's flank and surfaces alone.

He's already got a pokeball in hand when he swims close and pitches it as hard as he can toward one of the purple specimens. It's hard to tell if his aim is true with the wind that tears at the waves; Gavin squints against the sun, hoping.

When he’d spotted the small dots that had formed the congregation of Lapras from up in the air, he’d half expected to see a speedboat bobbing alongside them, a conductor commanding their song at the helm. [break][break]

Upon closer inspection as he approaches the ocean’s surface, plane's nose tilted skyward, Angelo realises that this is, in fact, not the armada belonging to one Captain Dross. Instead having spotted a rare wild fleet, mid-symphony. [break][break]

Guiding the amphibious plane into a taxiing stop upon the water, killing the engine and allowing the blurring whirl of a propeller to gradually still, Angelo opts to stick around. [break][break]

Anchor thrown into the sea, long legs dangle from the opened fuselage doors as he watches, feet not quite skimming the waters surface nor the floats as it subtly sways atop the gentle waves. Angelo's own Lapras shyly skirts the unfamiliar fleet. [break][break]

“C'mon, Ariel. If you can make friends with Sky’s lot, these ones should be easy.” He tells his juvenile transport pokemon, eyebrow quirked as she floats back towards the seaplane, quietly practicing her SPARKLING ARIA with a bowed head and large anxious eyes. [break][break]

“Or… you could just stay here and sing to me. I'd like to hear what you've been practicing.” His smile is soft around the corners.

Lapras. A certain someone had always wanted one, as far as she could remember. And that certain someone had always gone on and on about it. Back then, Violet had just smiled and nodded, but ever since that one fateful day when their boat almost sank – and the ship definitely did -she had not given them much thought.

But now that she saw them, Violet could understand the appeal. She nodded to herself, traversing the waters with her Cloister when she came across them. Granted, she didn’t exactly need them desperately. But she figured that one would be more comfortable than her current ride. And besides, if she caught one, maybe she could annoy a certain someone with that, next they met. Hence, she’d simply throw a Pokeball at one, if she got into range, just to see if it would work out. If not, it wouldn’t exactly be the end of the world, either.

Locke’s eyes sparkled with awe as he watched the Lapras splash and play amongst themselves.

When he was a kid, they were considered a highly endangered species, often poached for their horns or beautiful shells. It was considered a rare sight to find even one in the wild. Now, after years of conservation efforts, they were common enough for an entire pod to be spotted just off Slateport’s beach, with trainers free to approach and even attempt to capture one if they wanted.

And Locke really, really wanted one.

There were already crowds of people flocking to some of the boats along the harbor, but Locke decided against joining them. Maybe it was because of the generations of hunting, but Lapras were notoriously skittish, so the large, noisy vessels were more likely to scare them off than anything else.

Instead, they had Fee-Fee sneak them out to the other side of the rocky outcrop the Lapras were gathered around, where they were likely to hide once the other trainers started approaching. Here, Locke waited with a Pokéball in hand and barely contained excitement for the perfect opportunity.
