ah, summer. so many things to do and also little time to do them. Alice giggled as she watched the Lapras pod go by before joining the eager human beings. releasing her Primarina, the young woman would hop onto the siren's back as it took off after the swarm. "let's try, really hard!" she says.

a Lapras was a boon to any blooming water-type trainer. Alice was one of those, yeah? she liked to think she was anyway. it didn't matter what kind of gentle creature she got - shiny or regular was fine with her. she'd toss a free Pokeball at one who was a bit off course, hoping for the best.

a call to the water had greyson floating on his blastoise's shell, careful to avoid the many boats that came in, and out of, the harbor. skin prickled beneath the warm sun, but relaxation spread through 'em. as he passed a pod of lapras, he decided to try his luck. a toss of the dual-colored orb, and he continued on his way, content to enjoy his day with, or without the company of the transport pokemon.

"merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream~" honestly, the first thing that came to mind when she saw all these lapras taking their sweet, lovely time down the sea, and she was never going to pass up and opportunity to be able to meet such majestic creatures. there was even less of a chance that she was going to let this chance to catch one pass her by, and so pulling out a pokeball, she waits, patiently, for one of the lapras to break apart from the group so that she'd be able to retrieve the pokeball later on. waiting, waiting.. then throwing one to test her luck.

Keenan and Aaron was on a relatively small boat. A motor boat with a small kitchen area, a captain's deck, and two rooms. And a tiny bathroom. The "captain" was a friend of both their older brother and their father. Keenan himself was dressed in just his black and fire lined swimming trunks, while Aaron took mostly to his older brother, wearing a pair of purple trunks but wearing a short sleeved jacket. Their pokemon also seemed to be enjoying the little sea faring trip. Keenan's Spheal was enjoying the open water, though sticking fairly close to the boat. The captain was content to keep it fairly slow. Not fast enough to leave the poor water type in the dust, but not slow enough where they might as well not even be going.

However, surprises happen. The captain turned off the engine and just let boat float. Keenan got up and looked around to see a swarm of Lapras around. One even took to playing with Spheal after they stopped. Laughing at the antics, Kee just watched. Aaron eventually came out with a ball, and tossed it at the two playing pokemon. Aaron's Shuppet and Magnimite floated behind him, just watching curiously. The playing Lapras eventually booped the ball to Keenan, who then started to play with it too...

Mint stood on the deck of the ship, eagerly pacing back and forth as the little boat sailed ever so closer to the Lapras. He could hear a few of them crying out to each other and Mint wished dearly he had a large water type to ferry him out closer. But this would have to do. Hopefully he could catch the attention of one. “Thanks Ma’am. I’ll take it from here!!” he said, waving at the woman that ad happily sold him a ticket to ride on her boat to see the Lapras. It hadn’t been too expensive thankfully. [break][break]

Without waiting, Mint pulled out a stash of treats from his bag before taking out a few and beginning to crush them a bit in his hands, breaking them up into chunks before chucking them into the water in a spread. “This has never failed me before, it better not start now!” he said crossing his fingers as he held a pokeball in anticipation for a Lapras to get close enough for him to toss it at them. Melody was scooting along in her lil BOAT that she used during that corsola conservation mission that she had a couple months back. She had been worried that her lapras was getting a little lonely all by it's lonesome so melody hoped to catch one of the rare elusive creatures so they could be friends! On top of that she really just wanted another lapras as well. So she got as close as she possibly could to one of the boat singing pokemon and lobbed a net ball at it hoping that the pokeball would catch the lapras as the rest of the colony swam away from her out of fear of being captured as well. Okay, if there was one thing that nobody would ever know—

It was the fact that Alexei over here didn’t like boats.

At all.

Not even ones permanently moored at the docks.

Look, chalk it down to the time he arrived in Hoenn almost a decade ago and was seasick the entire journey, okay?! Plus, flying was expensive for a sixteen year old who only had enough money saved up for a one-way boat ticket out of Unova…

So how was he going to approach this quandary of a Lapras swarm—without setting foot on a boat in the process?

Simple.

Even if the doctors had literally yelled at him not to fly, here he was, on the back of his Braviary, flying out over the—water—and watching the horde of Lapras sunning themselves. Not wanting to get too close to where people were, he dug around his jacket pocket and pulled out an empty Pokéball, before taking aim and chucking it below.

Now, who’s to say he’ll get lucky…

That’s where Mars was when the Lapras began to show up: chilling on a yacht. The sun shone, the Wingull ~~wouldn’t shut up with their horrid screeches of hell~~ sang, and honestly, he was beginning to get a pretty nice tan! At sea, everything was perfect in the life of dear Mr. Del Mar (no wonder that was his name, huh?). That is, of course, until his sunbathing session was suddenly interrupted by something hitting his arm…

”What the f–” Instinctively, he stood, his gaze scouring the remnants of a party until finding the culprit: a pokéball that was now rolling on the deck. And, listen, while Mars knew he was amazing, incredible, and perfect, he sure as hell was no pokémon to be trying to catch! Clearly, something was amiss here, and he didn’t realize exactly what until he turned to look towards starboard: there were Lapras. Dozens of them. Big and small, majestic and goofy, blue and of a very aesthetic purple shade.

There were also dozens of people trying to catch them, and it wasn’t like he could blame them: if someone managed to get all those Lapras they’d have a whole armada, nay a weapon of mast destruction!

Was that where the pokéball had come from? Had someone tried to catch one and the damn thing had shot it straight towards the yacht?

Well, there was only one thing left to do here, wasn’t there?

Join in on this and try to get himself a Lapras!

He grabbed the t-shirt cannon they had been using for promotion the night before, which still had a couple squished up inside, and loading a pokéball into it, he directed it towards the nearest aesthetically-coloured Lapras. He shot it, and hopefully, if the fates were kind, that Lapras was about to get itself a whole lot of pokéball along with a complimentary Meowth-patterned t-shirt courtesy of Piazza Oro Grande BANK – if what was printed on it was to be believed, at least. Too bad it was S size.

Jess's so-called 'boat' was actually a mattress she'd parked too close to high tide. Sure, it was gross, but Slateport's rocky coastline had put one too many rocks in her back and hell if she was getting any younger. It'd seemed damn lucky at the time to come across one about to get thrown out on the street. Anyway, needless to say, the damn thing floated.

"Sink or swim, I guess," the brunette was muttering, sitting cross-legged in the middle of the mattress and eying one side that was getting suspiciously waterlogged. There was a lot of air in these things, but they were damn absorbent too. "Pretty pickle." At this time of night there wouldn't be any boats, so it wasn't like she could place a SOS call with any passing ships. She was on her own out here.

Something rocked the mattress under her and Jess damn near rolled off the side as a full Lapras came up from underneath her. The mattress gushed water, teetering back and forth like a blocky see-saw on the creature's shell. Jess balanced like a circus performer, windmilling her arms. "WOAH! Woah!" She'd heard Lapras were intelligent, but they'd really just save someone out of nowhere? Smart doesn't do them credit.

Of course, it remained to be seen whether it'd take her back to shore, but maybe she could hitch a ride for awhile. Seemed friendly.

While sightseeing around Slateport, Vanny had boarded a ferry boat. The ferry boat was bright colored white and had two floors of seating and a deck. Vanny rested in the farthest seat on the bench towards the window. This was meant to be a short ride around the ocean beside Slateport. At first all she saw was the land gradually becoming smaller and the wake of the boat.

The ferry slowed. A large pod of Lapras had swam nearby. Vanny could see the smooth blue skin and shell back of one of the oceanic beasts. When she leaned into the window to look closer at the Lapras in view, she saw it really wasn’t a beast at all. The green eye held intelligence and warmth.

Vanny pushed past the other passengers to get the the walkway and rush for the deck. She muttered a quick, ”Excuse me!” She had to see the pod in its full glory. Upon the deck, she could see dozens of Lapras on the water, most of them were minding their own business and didn’t seem wary of the boat at all. Wow. A Lapras would be a way better ferry boat than the one she currently stood on. Maybe she had a chance to catch one. Her arm was weak so maybe her throw wouldn’t make contact but she tried anyway. She retrieved an empty pokeball and, leaning into the railing, she threw it into to ocean.

Riding his dependable Dragonite, the Galarian Ambassador breaks apart the pod of Lapras with a DRAGON RUSH as the large ship draws ever closer at high speed. Rather than leave the calf abandoned, he pulls out an empty luxury ball and casts it forward. Whether captured or not, the attempt itself would prove to be enough to free the little Lapras from its compromised position.[break][break]

It reminds her of her own armada, silently sailing in the calm waters of Lilycove's docks. Of too-intelligent eyes casting their gaze onto moonlight bright waters. Of the songs spoken of in sailor lore, ocean hymns that send ships and their sailors to the frigid depths.

No one speaks of the instinct that lingers beneath their gentleness, barely concealed beneath the dark surface of a doe-like gaze.

According to scientific authorities, Lapras were hunted to near extinction due to their gentle nature. Decades of effort from several communities allowed them to thrive again. But Captain Skyler Dross wonders...

The boat under her purrs as she pulls closer to the group of Lapras, bold and unafraid. Skyler is long used to the shelled creatures that make these waters their own. Her own group of Lapras bobs gently around the boat, calling to the others with melodious trills.

Watching from beneath dark lashes, Skyler rolls a pokeball in her hand. Should any Lapras approach with curiosity in its gaze, she'll try her luck.

One day, she thinks while the group of Lapras converges all around her, one day.

Now, Avery was quite afraid of a lot of things, but sailing out on a little boat to watch some Lapras swim past the harbor was... absolutely one of those things. [break][break]

Too nervous to say no, despite how many polite fishermen offered to let her sit on their fishing boats, Avery is happier than ever to just stand at the edge of the dock. Not too close though, she wasn't a particularly strong swimmer.[break][break]

But she does think that the Lapras are very pretty and she waves to them with a glowing smile.[break][break]
