aaron pulls himself up on the pull up bar with calloused hands, puffing out his cheeks and huffing with effort as he brings his chest above the bar. another grunt as he squeezes his muscles and lowers himself back down carefully. a dark spot grows in the middle of his sleeveless shirt, clinging to the skin between his shoulder blades. his bangs are matted to his forehead with sweat. [break][break] overall, kinda a bad time to reunite with him.[break][break]
his pikachu notices Rory Faust first. she's in the middle of her own workout — strenuous bicep curls with aaron's water bottle — face scrunched up with concentration. the familiar face makes her drop the water bottle with a surprised chirp.

"put your back into it, mischief! how are we gonna win gym badges if — " he looks back mid-pull up. "holy shit?!"

letting go of the bar, he half-falls, half-drops himself to the ground and whirls to face her. eyebrows raised, he feigns being mystified by her visit like she's a mythical pokemon. "rorina faust? is that really you? after all these years?"

and then he grabs her arm and pulls her into a tight hug. his skin is sticky with sweat and he probably smells like a mixture of old spice and wet dog, but he traps her in his embrace to make up for the months without her. his pikachu joins in, wrapping her forepaws around rory's leg.

[break][break]well, he could've a little bit if he had done any research about this gym beyond searching for the link to make an appointment, but some greater power beyond he and CIAN MAHER imagination had demanded he stick with the rat instead of allow him to claim her as a spectator at the last moment. [break][break]sucks, but aaron intends to make the most of it. even if that means spamming quick attack for five more posts. with any luck, cian will fall asleep from boredom mid-match and he can loot his body for

on the sidelines, cian's glalie summons a cloud overhead, hail plinking as it hits the floor and bounces. the air grows chilly. aaron puts on a brave face in his very fashionable three-inch shorts, beautiful thigh muscles bulging as he flexes them in the cold.

pikachu loses sight of swinub in the hailstorm, wincing at the sting of cold, hard ice as it rains down on her. slowing to a stop, she squints and looks around, only to be ambushed by a hiss of icy wind a moment later. her limbs feel heavy with cold, weighed down by the ice that forms in clumps in her fur.

he's being honest, at least. there's something about the bad-for-you artificial flavor of the blue raspberry icee that sits right with him. his organs are already shriveling up on his diet of no water and slightly burnt pudding skin you can only get from gourmet tv dinners like kids cuisine. so what's the harm in an icee once in a while?

aaron shakes his head. focus. "yeah, i did."

he walks through the living room toward the front door, glancing back as mint asks if he lives alone. "oh, uh, nah. i have a roommate. he's just out right now."

aaron opens the front door and gestures for mint to walk through. once he's in the hall, aaron takes a few convincing steps after him, the door trailing in his wake, only to side-step back into the apartment and shut the door unceremoniously.
