Yo, this place was wild. In Roman's 13 years, he'd seen nothing like it. Which wasn't saying much, honestly. Aside from when he ran away, the towns and routes beyond Fallarbor were rare sights. Still - he knew this humid cavern with its rainbow diamonds belonged to a world beyond his own. [break][break]

If only he were smart enough to process what that meant. But his father, Roman, wasn't. Roman stared at the older male's back as they walked. Such broad shoulders. Would he look like that when he was older? Roman hoped so. [break][break]

"I didn't mean to end up here. I swear." he said for the umpteenth time. "I just wanted to walk your fucking bear." and he'd ended up in another world - caught on the wrong side of a war. [break][break]

His heart raced. The memory of their recent battle flashed in his mind. If Rocket was here, did that mean they'd run into jayden cross? [break][break]

Roman stared at the empty bed. Now he was sure something had to be going on. "Where the fuck is my mom?" he asked no one in particular.

Mom wouldn't leave Gretchen shut in her room all night. Roman frowned, following the cat to the front door and opening it. Wherever she went, he didn't care.

"Po, find mom." he ordered. Immediately, Lycanroc went to work. His nose to the ground, followed the faint traces of Willow's scent to shed in the back.

Po barked at the door.

"The hell she's doing in the shed." Roman tried the handle but found the door locked. His frown deepened.

"Yo, mom? If you're in there open up or I'm gonna have Po break the door."

Roman stepped back, swatting at Ollie's hand. "Keep your mitts off my nose, dude." What did he take Roman for, a baby or something?

Nose twisting aside, Roman squinted at the man, pausing to consider his words before scoffing. "I'd call you a liar. No way you saw a Pokemon like that." adults needed to pick more believable lies to tell. Not every kid was a gullible fool that ate up whatever was said to them.

Roman walked over to his mom to inspect what she was cooking. "Ew, is that broccoli? Can't we have something else?"

Roman stretched out on the couch, Po resting comfortably on his legs. He scratched at the Lycanroc's back and glanced from the tv to the clock on the wall.

"That's weird." thirty minutes past noon, and still no sign of mom. Was she not making him feed the Tauros today?

Fuck, he hoped so.

Still - better check before she yelled at him for slacking off. Roman pushed Po from his lap and headed to willow atkins's door. "Mom? We still doin' that stupid farm stuff today or not?" He reached for the door handle.

Privacy? Who fuckin needs that.

Roman frowned, trying to take deep breaths like he practiced in therapy. The therapist said it would calm his nerves, but that had yet to happen. If anything, it only turned sparks into fire whenever he tried.

"Graah!" he threw up his hands after a minute, "Fucking stupid." Roman huffed. "Almost as frustrating as YOU not listening to me." emerald hues narrowed on the Exploud before him.

A recent, lucky capture, every attempt to get the mon to listen resulted in failure. It lounged around instead, snoring loudly with its face toward the clouds.

Releasing it would be wise, but Roman was too stubborn for that.

Roman frowned.

"Keep it up, D.K. We got those ugly bovines where we want em."

Howling, Grookey jumped from Roman's shoulder, kicking up dirt as he landed. The stomping Tauros sparked an idea in the chimp. He took his stick and beat it rhythmically on the ground.

All the commotion drew Po out of the house. Passive until the sight of Gretchen darting across the yard shuddered excitement into him, he broke into a sprint. The Lycanroc barked, his tail wagging frantically.

Ash struggled against the Natu's psychic hold. Though his muscles twisted and turned, there was no escape. He hissed, spitting harmless embers at bird and plant alike. How dare they stop him. How dare they get in the way of his kill.[break][break]

Roman couldn't believe his eyes. He hadn't meant for Ash to go for the throat. Bite his dad's ankle or pants, something to slow him down while Roman ran away, sure, but not this.[break][break]

"Fuck, I-I didn't mean to -" he's frozen in place, barely able to register the sheer anger in his dad's voice. Roman's own rage dissipated, replaced by panic and fear. The emotional cocktail shined in his eyes as they darted from the cat to Bo. [break][break]

He didn't want to be here.[break][break]

When the strength to move found him, Roman neither returned his Pokemon nor left the house. He dashed franticly to his bedroom, dropping the Poke Ball on the way

His hands balled into tightly wound fists, fingernails digging into his palms. Anger was his safety net, violence a practiced defense against anyone who threatened to shred it. [break][break]

Carracosta retreated inside his shell, a torrent of water from its leg openings launching him at Lulu. He's a bullet fired from a gun held by a child.
