Entering the ballroom beside a very graceful and elegant Mienshao, Belial Stone sports a very official dress uniform with military decorations serving as boutonnieres. The soiree is in full swing by the time he arrives, and he gladly helps himself to an hor-d'oeuvre as he makes a relaxed bee-line for the bar. [break][break]

"So, the Litleonids just suddenly disappeared and reappeared? Did our tracking instruments fail?"

Overhearing Dr. Nisa Holo, the mercenary captain raises a brow in response but doesn't bother to linger around and eavesdrop. Whatever crazy thing Hoenn had coming tonight, Belial had likely seen crazier. "Times like these always call for a drink, don't they, Chai?" He says with a devil-may-care smirk, receiving a silent stare of judgement from the aforementioned Mienshao.[break][break]

A Finneon struggled desperately to swim upriver. For what reason, Razerbait did not know. As the Gliscor glided down to snatch the fish when it leapt out from the water, however, it was surprised to have to dodge an AURORA BEAM.[break][break]

A Charmander was always a bounty worth catching. Charizard, after all, were notorious picks for mercenary groups. So, in an instant, Ladyhound's test became a serious endeavor. "Subdue the lizard. That's an order!"[break][break]

The fire lizard in question turned to regard the man and his dog with an almost cute snarl. Charging forward with a SLASH at the ready, Belial's Furfrou instantly began to MIMIC the action. With more training beneath her belt, however, Ladyhound ended up winning the little contest.[break][break]

The Charmander whimpered as it attempted to stagger back up onto its feet. Before it could, Belial cast a heavy ball at it and watched the light from that ball devour the lizard in an instant.[break][break]

The Gliscor that glided between the trees silently had lead its boss to a Clefairy. It stood upon a flat boulder at the center of a grass clearing. Waving its finger around, Belial had assumed she was casting a METRONOME. But, no. Instead, it seemed to be manipulating breezes carrying the sweet aroma of flowers (AROMATHERAPY).[break][break]

As interesting as a Clefairy with this ability was, however, the mercenary captain saw no real use for it in combat. So he moved on, signaling for his Gliscor to guide him to a new target with more potential.[break][break]

The four-legged chomping tank awoke after being sniffed upon by the Kabuki Trim Furfrou. Heavy boulders slid off its back as it stood, grumbling all the while as it glared at the dog and the human standing behind it. As the former worked herself up (WORK UP), the Drednaw unhinged its jaw before steadily charging forward (JAW LOCK).[break][break]

Ladyhound spared a moment to look back at her boss, looking for any sign of direction before realizing he expected her to take initiative herself. So, within the seconds of time she had to act, she managed to leap over the Drednaw's head and avoid the snap of its dangerous maw before diving downward to strike the back of its hind leg (SUCKER PUNCH).[break][break]

The Drednaw groaned before charging away from them. This wasn't exactly the kind of challenge Belial cared to see, however.[break][break]

It was time for Ladyhound's test.[break][break]

Fresh from the Safari Zone, albeit trained for a few days to learn the art of mimicry (MIMIC), the poodle had been groomed to Belial's liking and pampered prior to be taking out to Route 111. If she wanted to continue having such comforts, then she would do well to impress him today.[break][break]

This particular route was notorious for being overrun with Fire and Rock-type Pokémon. In other words, Pokémon far tougher, larger, and more dangerous than the Kabuki Trim Furfrou that walked beside him today. These dogs once protected kings in ancient history, however. Belial was confident she could draw from that ancestry and prove herself with little issue.[break][break]

Razerbait took to the sky eagerly after they entered the Safari Zone. The skies were partly cloudy and the breeze wasn't overpowering, but just right for easy gliding. One could feel the chilly temperatures of the next season creeping in slow all around.[break][break]

After selling most of his mercenaries to private buyers and institutions, Belial's summer had been pretty uneventful. He hoped to make up at least half his stock and train them through the winter, however. So he'd purchased a ticket and come here.[break][break]

The cat had placed Chai under a surprise HYPNOSIS from the bushes. Its large eyes held sway over the mind of the martial artist: psychic abilities and the like had always been her bane, after all. Unlike the Mienshao, however, Belial wasn't easily captured in one of these trances.[break][break]

Trained to resist suggestion (or various forms of torture), Belial snuck up to the cat from behind and tasered it. It screeched like all hell before convulsing on the ground. Afterwards, the mercenary produced an empty heavy ball and cast it.[break][break]
