The white-haired stranger shakes his head. "I'm just a civilian, I'm afraid. I wandered in here after an evening walk with my Mightyena and now I find myself lost..." His serene expression dampens with the hint of a frown at the corner of his lips as he looks around. He brightens again, however, upon turning back to the pink-haired lass.[break][break]

"Oh, but you're a RANGER, is that right? Or at least a LEAGUE conscripted trainer? Do you mind if we tag along with you to find the exit?" He asks with a pleading look in his sparkling green eyes. "I really must get back. And, despite your lack of a partner, you look entirely capable of navigating this maze to me." He smiles.[break][break]

Belial Stone had been stunned into a terrifying mixture of awe, fear, and, quite frankly, fatal attraction. And, for one divine moment, it had just been him and PENELOPE LIVY in the shelter of that dome. Stripped bare by the molten lava that cloaked her body, the councilwoman was the closest thing to a real-life goddess the mercenary captain had ever witnessed.[break][break]

A goddess of war, discord, and power.[break][break]

A figurehead he thought he could get behind.

[break]

All the money in the world couldn't buy what this was. Despite his general aversion towards AVATARS, PENELOPE LIVY seemed to be his exception. As he desperately began to think of a way to persuade her to give him a chance, however, she attacked. Her answer came in the form of collapsing rock and magma, forcing his HISUIAN ARCANINE to shove him beneath it before bracing itself.[break][break]

The calamitous racket of rock and flame deafens Belial for a moment as he shifts into a fetal position. When it clears, and he hears Penelope's voice calling out to him once more, he opens his eyes again: only to bear witness to the horrors invading Socorro's body. Nightmarish BLACK TENDRILS wiggle in through the cracks of her mane, worming their way into her as she whines and yelps in pain.[break][break]

"Fuck! Wait, no! STOP IT!"

[break]

Belial pleads as his Arcanine twitches and spasms over him with bloodshot eyes. When he realizes she's doing everything she can to keep herself from collapsing on him, despite the pain, the Hoennian quickly scrambles backward on the ground. The moment he's clear, the Arcanine collapses before vomiting blood on the charred ground below and curling up to DIE.[break][break]

Stunned, and betrayed by the so-called 'goddess' he'd witnessed, Belial simply clutches the blade in his hand and watches as his beloved partner takes her last ragged breath.[break][break]

The white-haired Stone stands in the courtyard of an ancient castle in the MECHANICAL KINGDOM, turning to and fro to designate each exit and decide which one to take. Nearby, his MIGHTYENA sniffs around for anything interesting. STYGIAN paws his way through a pile of rusted cogs and rubble, though he doubts he'll find anything to eat.[break][break]

All of this is interrupted, however, when the door behind him creaks open. Both Belial Stone and Stygian turn to greet the stranger, and the former is quick to spread a handsome smile when sees that it's a pretty girl. "Oh. Hello there. I wasn't expecting to find anyone else out here. Are you with the LEAGUE?" He inquires.[break][break]

A clash of egos in a confined space was a bad idea no matter which way one sliced it. Belial, however, invited her arrogance with a smirk. PENELOPE LIVY didn't know who she was dealing with. It was a fault he intended to exploit.[break][break]

And, though he takes note of the violence Tempest Quinn and ollie morales partake in, the mercenary captain is primarily focused on the councilwoman. "Let me change your mind, beautiful. There's a lot SPECTRA would love to learn about you, after all."[break][break]

Like, for example, the speed at which her MAGMA travels.

Slower than a BOLT from Remiel Calcifet or fern delaney for sure. Perhaps even sluggish compared to the pillars of EARTH MATIAS SILPH is capable of summoning. Enough so that swiftly mounting his Hisuian Arcanine once more is no trouble for Belial before he executes his next command.[break][break]

"Send it right back!"

[break]

His canine mount pivots around, shielding her trainer with its large tail before planting her back paws into the ground and kicking the earth and magma right back at PENELOPE LIVY and anyone near her (SCORCHING SANDS).[break][break]

[break]

Meanwhile, the structural integrity of their DOME would begin to crumble after the SHADOW BALL from the WYDEER belonging to ollie morales strikes it. "You still alive back there, red?! This place is coming down!" It'd be a shame to lose her after such a short scrap.[break][break]

Despite her mental state, which she shook off for the time being with a shake of her head, Socorro was already heading toward PENELOPE LIVY in full sprint. Halfway there is when Kazimir Wynter launches his MIMIKYU into the fray with its Z-MOVE. There is little Belial can do except turn away from its horrendous form. Though he feels its shadowy influence as it falls upon them all...[break][break]

The shadow, overall, seems harmless.[break][break]

The CLOWN hovering above, on the other hand...

"Shit!" Belial curses as he swings one leg over the side of his Arcanine and grips tightly to its mane. He'd seen the videos. Heard the stories. He knew what was coming next. "There!" He points towards PENELOPE LIVY and anyone in her vicinity. "Form a dome with ROCK SLIDE!"[break][break]

If the threat of disintegration hadn't been there, he might have made another order. Instead, he watches as summoned boulders fall from above and stack themselves upon each other: forming a crude cave-like DOME around his enemies. Before its only entrance closes, his Hisuian Arcanine slides in as its master seamlessly lets go of its mane, planting feet on firm ground once more.[break][break]

The ground isn't firm for long, however, as the MIND BLOWN outside ignites.

Despite the roar of destruction outside or the rubble that it shakes loose from the dome they inhabit, Belial smirks in the firelight provided by the veins on his Hisuian Arcanine's rocky mantle. His gloved hand, in the meantime, pulls a TANTO BLADE free from the holster on his hip. "Are these the kind of councilwomen HOENN elects these days? Backstabbing ninnies playing soldier? Oh, how this region has fallen."[break][break]

Socorro growls as she readies herself for an attack.[break][break]

PENELOPE LIVY

He had her where he wanted her now; trapped, away from her CAMERUPT, and free from any additional reinforcements. He could end this in an instant and go back to the TEAM ROCKET HQ for a nice pay bonus. Or so he thought.[break][break]

"Let's put your knifeplay to a real test."

Belial supposes the blonde (annalise henderson ) barking at them has a point. Even still, in his experience, the faction with the bigger guns and the higher number of soldiers usually won. PALKIA was as big a gun as any legendary he'd seen. If it created another AVATAR for the LEAGUE, that could spell trouble for his employer. Which, in turn, could spell trouble for his own invaluable assets.[break][break]

As for WHITE KYUREM?

If SPECTRA couldn't assist in capturing it, then he was sure the LEAGUE could be depended upon to take care of it on their own. Just as Tempest Quinn urges them to run instead, however, something comes over Socorro. Her eyes brimming with rage and bewilderment, she forgets about the man riding upon her and hones in on the seemingly rabid CERULEDGE below.[break][break]

Belial can feel what comes next before he even has a chance to say anything. Instead, he grips tightly onto his Hisuian Arcanine's mane as she launches herself off the ridge and towards her target with EXTREME SPEED. The strange Z-MOVE from before (and her HOWL) seems to have imbued her with a RAGING FURY as she grips the CERULEDGE by the arm with her teeth and shakes it around like a ragdoll.[break][break]

"That's enough!" Belial shouts, prompting Socorro to toss the CERULEDGE away like a used-up toy. "What the hell has gotten into these Pokémon?" And, though he turns to look for MESPRIT in the sky once more, the mercenary captain finds PENELOPE LIVY attacking Tempest Quinn in defense of ollie morales instead. "Tch. I'm on my way!"[break][break]

Having thought they were far enough to stay clear of its influence, however, the SPECTRA CO-CAPTAIN is surprised to find his Arcanine sniffing and snorting instead. CONFUSION fills her eyes as something begins to come over her.[break][break]

"Easy now," Belial hums, patting her mane reassuringly. He can see her drift in and out of this tumultuous state. Whatever that faerie had done, it was clear the Arcanine's expert training was being put to the test. Her master only gazes away briefly to acknowledge the next Z-MOVE to appear: courtesy of ollie morales and his WYRDEER.[break][break]

He sighs.[break][break]

"Now the RANGER CAPTAIN, too."

Belial Stone arrives on the scene, masked and mounted on a magnificent HISUIAN ARCANINE, just in time to see AVATAR PENELOPE LIVY launch a heated attack at his well-funded patrons. Behind him, a small squad of well-trained and MASKED ANVIL MERCENARIES await his next order.[break][break]

"Spread out and assist any TEAM ROCKET member in need of aid. If you run into a chance to capture one of those strange PARADOX POKEMON, however, prioritize that."[break][break]

With a synced salute, the mercenaries disperse in every direction as SOCORRO glares at the red-headed woman below. Belial pats the Arcanine's mane. "You ready?" And, inevitably, she responds with a resounding HOWL.[break][break]

PALKIA. REGICE. WHITE KYUREM & UNBOUND HOOPA. The information they had gathered here would be invaluable to SPECTRA resources. But, at the end of the day, it was the thrill of combat that nourished Belial's soul. And watching this little group trade blows was quite the enrichment.[break][break]

"ADMIN FOX? I used to know that guy."

[break]

The SPECTRA CO-CAPTAIN says to howard slayte after the roar of the HYPER BEAM quiets. On a ridge overlooking the battle, its participants will find him: leaning forward against his Arcanine's mane a little too comfortably considering the stakes. Shifting his emerald green orbs towards the opposite pair— namely PENELOPE LIVY — Belial smirks.[break][break]

"So she's the COUNCIL's little lavabender, right? Not baaad." Whether it was the wisps of flame in the air or the smudges of dirt she wore, the mercenary captain liked what he saw. Nevertheless, he could tell she was positively dangerous. "You fellas need help?" He asks of howard slayte and Shred Zeppelin as he turns his gaze to the others.[break][break]

The traitor Isaac Merlo . Their former prisoner annalise henderson . And the BOOGEYMAN of the underground (and international) circles Belial Stone operated within: Gunner Graves himself.[break][break]

"Or maybe I ruin one of their days instead?"

The DRAPION emerges from the bush in a complete rage. Thankfully, Belial's golem is there to defend against the BUG BITE it attempts. Though properly astonished by the attack, the mercenary captain ends up laughing before long.

"Not bad!" He remarks, watching as his Barbaracle strikes the creature down with a NIGHT SLASH. "Not good enough, though. But don't worry... I'll help you change that." He pulls a Heavy Ball out from his pack then casts it forward for a swift capture afterward.

"In my experience, it's the living you really got to worry about," He continues, glancing up as his GLISCOR darts overheard. "Though I guess that's a bit cliché, isn't it?" The mercenary chuckles, stopping just a few meters ahead of the forest ruin before placing his hands on his hips.

The mercenary captain also wasn't the one to back down from a good fight, of course. But he'd learned, quite harshly over the years, that it was sometimes better to retreat and lick wounds.

He'd gathered plenty of nice data today, after all. The next fight he had with a VOLCANION was sure to go far smoother. So, without great anticipation for the next round sometime in the future, he steers GARAND toward the exit.

The PRYDE brothers were already on the other side. Belial scoffs. "Even I can't tell whether that's cowardice or smarts." He smirks. Though the blob of SCALDING hot water he dodges with a duck of his head prompts him to AQUA JET the hell out of there before long as well.
