Well...that went poorly.[break][break]

Luka spits out some water and pushes soaking hair out of her eyes, gasping and spluttering as she clings onto the Mantine's fin. With no small effort she heaves herself back onto them, looking like a drowned Rattata as water streams down her.[break][break]

She lays flat on Mantine's back for a moment to catch her breath. But before she feels fully recovered, they begin to start swimming again. Despite Luka's protests they start racing for another wave, going faster and faster until she can either jump off or just accept her fate.[break][break]

This time, she's clinging on for dear life as Mantine leads them into another attempt at the Over the Gyarados.

After poking around the seafloor for so long, it only makes sense that she would come up with a Clampearl eventually. This little one is so cute that Luka can't possibly force it back into the water! And Helios wouldn't have it any other way. They fight till the end, don't they? The Blaziken refuses to dishonor Ripper by going easy on him even as the end of their brawls draws near. He's certain that the other would want it this way as well.[break][break]

Flames once again crackle to life, wreathing his wrists and sparking along taloned feet. They crackle as Helios aims his punch for the same spot he had just kicked, one last blow.[break][break]

But if Helios knows anything, he knows not to preemptively celebrate a victory. There's every chance that Ripper may yet bounce back from this.

Does that mean the Pokemon found in the rifts are simply dropped there? Or did they choose to enter? Are they from a different world, like the one she had visited with Martín del Mar during the new year? What does it all mean? The scope of the question is too much for Luka to even try and parse on her own. She's not even sure that she could articulate it if she wanted to.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Palmier trills and preens in front of the pair. Any cursory examinations Eva might want to perform are easily allowed; she seems to thrive on the attention. But behind them Luka frets and fusses until she can't hold it in any longer—[break][break]

Fists collide and sparks fly. Hardened talons collide against wrought iron pincers and the clang reverberates around the arena like a bell. Luka gasps as she watches the two powerhouses clash; at this point it's impossible to tell who will come out on top.[break][break]

He'd swung with his right arm. Now, Helios' left leg kicks out, delivering just as powerful a blow right into Ripper's throax. A small burst of flame helps to propel his leg upwards to add extra momentum and force. Their match has been an exhilarating one, but now it's time to finish it.

His own exertion begins to wear down on him. Not as spry as he used to be, Helios grunts as he attempts to hold Ripper steady, but the Scizor's struggling eventually pays off. He skids back several feet, his hold on his opponent finally relinquished.[break][break]

Their fighting has been drawn out far longer than his previous battle. And though Helios is still standing strong, Luka can tell that he's winded. Beginning to tire. She cheers again from the sidelines, hoping to invigorate him.[break][break]

Helios hears it, but he doesn't react. His focus is steady and singular. This time, he doesn't go right back for Ripper's throat. Instead he draws back, running circles around the Scizor at breakneck speed. When he finally breaks and flies in with another punch, he hopes to catch his opponent off guard and dizzy.

A final gambit of sort pays off, though it still isn't enough to knock Helios down. A combative spirit blazes with equal amounts respect and determination— he won't go down willingly, nor does he expect his opponent to concede.[break][break]

This time, he attempts to grapple Ripper. Steel clad talons grip the Scizor with brute force, utilizing the same force that had once held dangerous criminals back in the day. Such techniques might be familiar, but that doesn't make them any less dangerous.
