"you've made it quite clear you don't give a shit" Reyes begins, side stepping the Pikachu as it came toward him "so why should I?" if the woman was offended, he didn't care. he had attempted to 'play nice'.

he throws out a leg to connect with the mouse, kicking it to the side. but it was not the object of any hostility. it took a lot to get Reyes riled up. this woman would have to do much better.

nearing the end of his job, he would toss a few Pokeballs at the offending Pikachu. capturing them effectively, he had about five or six under his proverbial belt. they could have more, but ah well.

he shrugs in response.

at least, the first jabbed remark. the second? Reyes' eyes linger over the fighting Pokémon before he answers. "I've paid a fair share of manicures for women" but it was not a brag "take the suggestion or not; you don't need me to tell you that you'd look 'ravishing' with the color."

but there was also another few reasons he knew the colors. one was simple; he liked the color red. learning the different hues was fascinating. he had a passing interest in art. paint had all very different color names. "and you are a classy but violent woman; am I wrong?" why wouldn't he suggest it?

"you can leave if you want" Reyes states, though his voice was void of insult or anger "I'll tell them to pay you" because he guessed; she was only here to get money "also" he adds, noticing "I would try a color called Chocolate Cosmos" regarding her nails "it is a classy yet violent red."

the man moves from his position and pulled out two Pokeballs from his waist. his Charizard and Zangoose were revealed soon enough. he ordered them to attack the Pikachu. Zangoose was faster, aiming a Crush Claw at the nearest mouse. the swarm of them immediately descended on the two Rocket Pokemon at the Pikachu's cry. Reyes did not give orders.

if they could not survive on their own - the Pokemon were useless to him.

among some of the Rockets in Hoenn, he had found past comrades. Cillian Quinn was one of those. though not surprised to see the man still kicking after five years, Reyes was baffled as to why his Grunt-ly self was being paired up with the blond.

Gavin was a more important 'clog' in this machine. perhaps he was here to assess Reyes; even though orientation was now over. or maybe there was nostalgia? they hadn't exactly been very close in Kanto, but they had done jobs together.

so he crossed out reminiscing. 

the name of this game was 'breaking and entering'. a simple enough job. he would wait until Mauville slept and go under the cover of darkness. then further waiting until Gavin showed up to assist.

Pikachu.

the more popular vermin out in the market. Reyes had listened to the news regarding a pile-up of the mice at the entrance of Littleroot Town. apparently, things did happen in the backwater communities in Hoenn.

he was here to capture and sell the wayward Pokemon. to the Black Market, of course, for a tidy sum of money. Rocket had been the first to intercept the news, and sent him out with another of their kind. they weren't going to keep the cash for themselves.

Rocket would know they were being screwed over. instead, they gained a sliver of it. a finder's fee, if you will. Reyes watched the Pikachu digging and lazing about the entrance. "how do you want to do this?" he asked the other Rocket.

toni. a name at least, despite her indifference toward him. this was fine. Reyes was not here to make friends. "A Charizard" he remarks to her, pulling out a Pokeball "and him." he tosses it, releasing a Zangoose. as a natural hunter of predators, Zangoose was much better than a very loud and dramatic lizard of fire. he didn't know Toni's goals here, nor her plan.

Zangoose stood ready to assist, however.

"what do you want to do?" Reyes would ask her directly. they could surprise the pack, but no doubt they were aware of the humans and their partners already. they could bring the fight to the Mightyena in a violent flurry. they could use the Mareep as bait. so many possibilities. he was just here to get paid.

lucky for the woman, Reyes did not care. he could stop her if he knew, but would he? not really. and was she going to tell him? probably not. either way, the job promised pay. he was there for it. time to make a new start in Hoenn with this sort of thing. no shortage of jobs were being handed out anyway. he'd take what he could get.

he spots the 'partner' for the job. always assume League was a lingering thought. he knew this from back in Kanto. assume they were the enemy, be pleasant and kill them with kindness. wait for them to stab you in the back but take that blade and stab it in their heart before it could happen. "hello" Reyes would say quietly, for she seemed to be scouting.

"you're here about the pack?" he would pause before speaking again "they sent me to assist you. my name is Reyes. a pleasure."

 since arriving in Hoenn, Reyes had stuck to Sootopolis mostly. he socialized with fellow Rockets and got caught up on what was going on in the region. then he left. his pursuit would take him to the mainland, where Slateport's community was. it was still summer so many people were at the beach. he joined them. the tournament was done, a shame, but he didn't really care much. it would have been good opportunity to gather intel, not battle.

Reyes would stroll along the walkway, hands in his pockets. he saw nobody he knew - but at the same time... nobody knew him either. chances like this don't come along often. but before he could do something about it, he spots a Wingull. the bird was struggling against some beer can plastic near the walkway. it was dusk; hardly anyone was around. he could watch it struggle with amusement or do something about it. not even looking around once, he bends and unhooks its webbed feet.

the Wingull caws in thanks before flapping its wings, taking off with its brethren. he watches them go as he straightens, throwing the plastic into the recycling.

it was quite clear Rowan Wrynn did not want to speak of his 'actions' in the raid. but Reyes was not going to press him for his specific participation anyway. "not to worry" he says to the young man "my curiosity is only for the tactics involved; it is most helpful if I am selected to participate in something big later on." he needed to know how Rocket worked in Hoenn. there were too many unfamiliar grounds. Avatars. Legendries. he had no interest in 'godhood'. but it was still good to know these things.

but follow he would.

slipping into a bar near the docks, Reyes glanced once around. there were a few fellows and ladies from the ship here, talking already and ordering something to calm their stomachs. "she's fine" the man would state regarding Rowan's Inteleon "it's better to be cautious" though this statement would probably not earn him brownie points with the water-type. not that he cared anyway. "a ginger beer." he adds when a waiter/ess comes to collect their order.

the sea sickness is still swimming in his gut.

 "I am, yes" Reyes would reply at the young man's inquiry. a tanned hand would grasp the other's outstretched hand, the business handshake up to par. the other 'citizens of the boat' transporting them had waded past them to their own respected greeters. he was left with Rowan Wrynn. "a pleasure, Rowan."

much better than the submarine. 

a light chuckle escaped his lips. "is that so?" Reyes begins, releasing Rowan's hand to scratch his chin "well, I shall not be in a hurry to check that out" the new Headquarters though "were you there when Rocket took the city?" he asked the young man, glancing around the surroundings. he was curious to hear of the strategy.
