If Ceri were someone else, perhaps she would be offended, because no one likes being told someone has feelings for them but that they think things might not work out. Deep down, it does hurt, but she tries her best to rationalise the situation: it makes sense that Eli is hesitant, especially if he has never had a relationship before, and it makes sense that she’s hesitant too.

When have relationships ever worked out for her, after all?

In her experience, men always take what they want and leave, but perhaps this time things will be different…

Of all the people that could have come to the fields to pick berries with her, she didn’t expect it to be someone like Mayday Markov. Beautiful, fashionable, lovely... There aren’t many people like that in Team Rocket, and her presence sure makes the prospect of this day of berry-picking all the more exciting for Ceri.

That’s the question, isn’t it? It just wouldn’t be good to assume things. He likes her, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he wants to date her, and does she herself even want a relationship in the first place?

Ceri doesn’t usually give much thought to things like those, because it was a while back that she realized she doesn’t have time for relationships and that only ends up making things more complicated. It's much easier to just hook up and keep things casual.

But, at the same time, this is Eli, and she really loves spending time with him...

Looking down at him from where she is, Ceri leans in, this time giving him a quick peck on the cheek before getting off him. She sits on the bed then, right next to him, and it's when looking up at the ceiling that she finally gives him her answer:

As soon as the Poipole was out of its pokéball, Ceri’s gaze remained fixed on it, watching its every action as it went around and around the tree. It was confusing, dizzying, and she definitely didn’t expect it to just go ahead and stab the Tree of Life…

Russet eyes widen the moment it does.

”Jam! Stop that!”

”Wait…”

Is she talking to the Ultra Beast, or to the other woman? That much is unclear even to Ceri herself, for her gaze remains fixed on the spot the creature stabbed even after it floats away. Something drips, and she acts fast.

”Oh!”

Reaching into her bag, Ceri retrieves one of sample tubes she usually carries with her for exactly this sort of situation (well, not like she could have ever predicted she’d run into an Ultra Beast stabbing the Tree of Life, but when approaching the latter there’s always the possibility of needing to take a sample or two, right?).

She runs towards the tree, only to then carefully collect as much of the liquid as she can.

”What is that? Amazing… I’ve never seen it do this before…”

There’s awe in her voice as she looks at the samples.

Does Eli deserve to be tormented like this? Probably not, although then again, many would argue that this isn’t exactly torment – that he’s lucky or whatever. As long as it’s what he wants, that is.

It’s the kind of thing Ceri wonders about as they kiss, being well aware of how tense he is (while also being well aware of that “secret” of his). Conflicting information, just as conflicting as the fact that he questions her.

As someone who studies toxins, losing a subject is not always a bad thing. Sometimes the effectiveness of a poison or venom must be tested: how quickly it acts, how painlessly, how effectively. As such, Ceri isn’t all that used to the wave of disappointment that comes with seeing a subject die before her eyes.

It’s new, and she finds that she dislikes the feeling.
[break][break]
Yet, it also motivates her to want to do better next time; a myriad of ideas suddenly sprouting in her mind about what may have gone wrong, what could be done better, and how the formula could be changed so the experiment is successful next time. It’s thrilling, and almost overwhelming.

”I think I have an idea of how to change the formula so it works, but I’d have to do some testing later…” Her musings are quietly spoken out loud, and, it’s only after a moment that she looks at Gavin once again, offering a smile.

Is priam conrad cool?

Perhaps not in the ways Ceri would usually think of when thinking of someone who’s “cool”, but he’s cute, and nice, and honestly, fucking hilarious. That seemingly boundless confidence of his is almost contagious, and there’s something way too funny about the fact that he definitely is smart, but he also acts almost like your typical jock. It makes being around him fun, so yes, Priam is pretty damn cool in Ceri’s book.

Still, azure eyes squint when looking at him, as if she were thinking really really hard about his words – considering if he’s cool or not. And then, she smiles once again, her attention quickly returning to the slice of pizza in her hands. ”True! Though I guess you could say the same about me. Mine would say I’m cute, and I’m totally like… super cute.” She winks, only to then laugh lightly.

A cancelled class brought with it joy and unexpected freetime, and for someone like Ceri, it meant a chance to go do some of the things she had been delaying because of how busy her schedule usually was thanks to school and her job at the lab.

Catching more pokémon, and not any pokémon, at that. Grimer and Muk. Poison types that happened to make places like the outskirts of Hoenn’s metropolis their preferred habitat.

”You know what to look for, Pyr.” Ceri smiled at the Salazzle that walked by her side, a graceful creature that only paused and stood on two legs when seeing a stranger approach. A trainer? He sure looked like it. Apparently, they weren’t the only ones who had decided to go pokémon hunting on such a day…
