oh, and there was a rawness that made francie question nearly everything she'd thought about fernando... damn him for it.[break][break]

she swallows, standing up straight and moving her fingers to try and smooth out the crinkled forehead before her. he's always tried to protect them. it's pitiful, the power struggle.[break][break]

that's something she can get behind... she's always found a reason to stand by his side, hasn't she?[break][break]

no, she's worked with Raziel Beckett before. she knows well enough that it'll be an easy adjustment. she'd been meaning to talk to him about going to lavaridge to work anyway. closer to mt. chimney, the mountain she came to adore. but, more importantly, the desert.[break][break]

which held a great many questions she wanted answered. specifically about the regi-family.[break][break]

the soft blink he gives her and that 'hm?' has francie letting out a soft laugh, grinning at him and leaning forward. she pokes at his nose, like she usually would, nearly having to get to her toes to do so.[break][break]

"oh don't play innocent with me, sir." it slips, that sir. old habits die hard. "how's the hunt for legendaries going?"

oh and there it is, the signature boss man talk of assets and not people. she supposes she's used to that with him and just lets her smile fall to show she didn't appreciate him talking about razz like some kinda folder on his desktop.[break][break]

can't be helped, that's fernando for ya. she knows this and therefor, somehow, it hits her as endearing.[break][break]

all too swiftly the subject's changed. she allows it and shrugs at the question, smiling sheepishly. then she looks up at him with her cheshire grin, a sure sign she's being facetious.[break][break]

"awe, c'mon. you know me. i'm just as quirky, so i fit right in." there's a soft chuckle and then her features sober a little; smile warmer, more friendly. "besides. a lot of my friends are rangers, i've learned."[break][break]

she can give a little whiplash with her change in conversation too.

there is a subtle, 'so too could you have been' in his tone. she knew it would be there. she knows that having decided to go help her family, the barrier coming up, her not being here... he has to be upset with her, right?[break][break]

it's partially why she's avoided him. avoided seeing that look of disappointment in his eyes.[break][break]

er, eye, now, she guesses.[break][break]

but he doesn't. he almost looks ... happy to see her? which is nice, she supposes. but she doesn't let it settle in her mind as something she should look into. they're just friends now, after all. colleges, like always.[break][break]

"i'm proud of who he has become. he's worked hard to be where he is and he deserves it."[break][break]

yes, she means she doesn't deserve the responsibility of such a title. she doesn't think she could handle it, really. she's still learning and growing too much and Raziel Beckett always seemed like he had it so well put together all the time.

"oh man! i have never seen something so beautiful in all of my life!"[break][break]

never before has she seem an illumin-whatever pokémon and it shows in how starstruck she is by the horse, then looking to greyson with wide eyes of childlike delight.[break][break]

around them there is a silly little festival celebrating the older tribes of lavaridge. something about horseback and making their own arrowheads to defeat archeops. francie's not entirely sure but she sure does like festivals and she's never been horseback riding before; so why not??

by word of mouth through the rangers, freya morningstar was suggested to francie as somebody who could teach her to physically hold her own against anybody who might want to harm her. being that she'd just had horrendous run ins with a hallucination of SILAS BLACKWELL, through all the shit having to do with galar, she figured it would be a good idea to get herself an instructor![break][break]

she stands in the place they were said to meet in lavaridge with her arms holding a shield. she's not sure what to do with it. mostly, she didn't know people still practiced these sort of arts. but how cool, right?[break][break]

sure, she knows how to kick box. but not how to defend herself against people who are clearly ready to kick her tail.

first he mentions the ultra beasts and that has her mind circling around what those are, what it means, and if she can see one. just to see one. she'll want one if she sees one but that's not something current!francie's wrapping her brain around.[break][break]

he mentions him being the first thing on her to do list and her dense little brain doesn't get it at all. instead, she just beams at him and nods with enthusiasm.[break][break]

"i mean, i'm here aren't i?" and then she leans in to give him a hug, pushing with her legs to pull him down on top of her in a writhing cuddle that's more like an episode of wrestling.[break][break]

she doesn't see the blush, she doesn't realize she's agreeing with a misspeak; she's clueless and too happy to care what it looks like to anybody else.[break][break]

"as for anything else on my list, i dunno. i have a list on my phone," her grip loosens and she beams while trying to wiggle and find her phone in her pockets, but her hands are all tangled and she ends up laughing instead. mostly at herself.[break][break]

"i feel like an octillery. i dunno what to do with my hands!"

no, she's done trying to read between his lines. she'd done trying to make up excuses and other things for him. she's taking him at face value, on experience, what she's learned about him.[break][break]

"hoenn will always be my home. my family may have branched out into other regions, but my heart will always belong here. and not just to the mountains, but to the people as well."[break][break]

it's poetic and the emotions of such a declaration have her laughing as softly and gently as possible before turning into the wind to keep her hair out of her face.[break][break]

"not even SILAS BLACKWELL could keep me away from hoenn. the only reason the barrier did was because i hadn't figured out how to break it with brute force yet."[break][break]

she beams a protagonists optimistic smile that's so sunshine infused that it might even start a wildfire even in the darkest of souls.

"rifts to other worlds??" francie perked up with a beaming smile, squishing her body to get closer. was it even possible? she couldn't tell, but she was enjoying being physically there with him so much she didn't care if he got uncomfortable. really, she didn't even think he'd be uncomfortable.[break][break]

"sci-fi!hoenn arch, i love it." she was grinning still, her cheeks even hurt. after that comment she sat in comfortable silence just staring at him and eventually she realized how awkward it was. instead of pulling way, she just let her smile broaden sheepishly.[break][break]

"i'm so sorry. i had like seventy things i wanted to talk about today and i can't remember any of them now that i'm here. cause i'm just so happy to be home."[break][break]

yeah, she'd just said being there with him was home, but maybe he didn't get that. she certainly hadn't realized it right away.
