His hands fidgeting together, the young man's posture awkwardly rigid, magenta-pink eyes search Gavin's features quickly when the other stands. Brow knit together for a bare moment, he blinks once when he seems to finally parse the action performed, and he gives a nervous nod.

"Yeah, uh. If - I guess if you need anything you have my email, yeah?" To his own personal satisfaction his voice does not crack, and Klaus gives himself permission to be pleased despite the strained tone. He begins to move, though stops the motion just before it has even begun. A faint colouring of a blush resting high on his cheeks, he utters an almost-missable, "Sorry for the ditto thing," before turning jerkily to see himself out of the office.

His head tilting faintly to the side as he listens to Xiura, Klaus's lips quirk into a half a smile he offers, "I love boba. I'll stop by sometime on one of my days off, yeah."

Klaus then gives a little shrug, his hand lifting to scratch at the back of his neck as he speaks. "I guess so," he admits. "Usually it's quiet but we get the occasional storm or someone's radio goes awol and it gets exciting. Most of my time is spent doing maintenance - keeping up the electronics and painting and that sort of thing." His lips pursed for a moment, he confides, "We get elementary schools coming out for field trips this time of year. That's always fun. The kids love it."

The man's gaze impassively follows his Lapras's attacks as well as the Hatterene's, a self-contained chaos away from the bustle of bodies down the beach.

Klaus looks up as he's spoken to, a half-smile hitching on his lips at the praise. "Thanks," he mumbles quietly. He then gives a nod of acknowledgement as to their haul, the bags at his waist untied and hung back where the nets were previously collected from.

"Hm," Klaus murmurs in distraction before the question actually seems to register in his mind. "Oh. Uh, yeah," he answers after a moment. His expression uncertain as to whether he should speak, he eventually admits after a slight pause, "My dad's deaf. Wish more people knew it."

With a little shrug, then gives a nod and mumbles another quiet, "Thanks." Klaus then unzips the neck of his wetsuit down to his lower chest as he walks over to the side of the boat, his pokemon recalled and tucked away. Flopping onto the bench, his head tipping back against the side of the boat, Klaus's magenta-pink eyes soon flutter closed, and soft snorts signal he's asleep.

Klaus hums an uncertain note at the gained knowledge of the pokemon's species, his magenta-pink gaze appraising despite the dark circles which bruise his eyes; horses, historically, hated his presence. He's too nervous, too high-strung, for an animal already prone to flight.

The young man instead keeps his hands wisely to himself as he shuffles away from the front of the Spectrier to stand at Arion's side - he places a wide berth between him and the stallion's head. Heaving a soft sigh, Klaus rubs at one dark eye before wordlessly reaching up to take Mars's hand to swing up with rusty practice onto Arion, settling behind Mars to sit nearly on the Spectrier's hips.

Klaus leans back, hoping for a gentle pace, and rests his palms atop the Spectrier's flanks. "I had a college friend from Unova who used to take me horseback riding," he offers conversationally, some of the roughness finally leaving his voice as he starts to wake up despite his lack of sleep. "Their fucking Rapidash hated me," he snorts out, a half-smile hitching at his mouth at the memory. "They had to take me to the emergency room for burns, a sprained wrist, and a concussion."

Glancing over his shoulder to his Dhelmise, Klaus lightly clicks his tongue to get the pokemon's attention before directing, "Don't lag too much, yeah? Or drop that egg. Dad needs our help."

Finally finding something to grasp onto, something he focus on, Klaus begins to speak but abruptly silences himself. Puzzling through his thoughts on a submarine's mechanics, his brow furrows in concentration, his eyes sightlessly searching the ground as he filters through what little he knows about their design.

"Is it smashed, or is something catching," he finally asks, his gaze lifting to hesitantly meet Gavin's for clarification. Unable to help himself, his hands slip out from his hoodie's pockets to explain with absent movements, "If it's smashed you'll need to recast the pieces. I can't do that bit but I could probably put it back together if I took it apart first."

Frowning, and now only halfway paying attention to his superior, Klaus muses, "If it's just catching that's probably a simple fix, yeah? Just need some oil or grind off a burr or something. Maybe a realignment Unless a piece is warped. Might be able to pound it back into place but then you'd have to worry about the structural integrity of the metal and if it's an emergency escape it's better to just recast it."

Seeming to realize he's babbling, Klaus abruptly silences himself, his face a touch red with embarrassment. He shoves his hands back into his hoodie's pockets and glances everywhere but towards Gavin again, his voice barely audible as he mumbles out a "Sorry."
