His stomach roiling as Klaus made his way through Rocket's Headquarters up to the high offices, he pulls his hood up further over his head, doing his level best to obscure his features as much as possible. Uncertain why any of the Underbosses would be interested in calling him in for a meeting, he purposefully drug his feet, his pace turning slower as slower the closer he came to the appropriate office.

Was he in trouble? His performance hadn't been spectacular lately but all things considered it hadn't been that bad either. Running in the middle of the back was much more preferable than standing out. Too much attention. Too much pressure.

So why was he here?

Klaus wholly stopped for a moment, his stomach lurching as he worked himself up towards a panic attack. He could leave, he reasoned, his hands now violently shaking in the pocket of his hood. Pressing his eyes shut, trying to ignore the taste of bile at the back of his throat, Klaus presses onwards into the office.

Opening his mouth and abruptly closing it when the man within turns around, Klaus averts his eyes to the ground. "I - you wanted to see me?" His words strangled with stress, the silence which spans between them turns oppressive in an instance. His face steadily draining of colour as the silence continues, Klaus shrinks in upon himself where he stands.

His voice cracks when he finally manages a confused, "Sir?"

He was met with nothing. Maybe this was a test?

A pair of sunglasses shading his eyes from the sun overhead, Klaus mills up the beach at a leisurely pace - at his side hovers a Dhelmise, the occasional whistle vocalizing from the pokemon as its ghostly tendrils of kelp brush along the sand. Passing from the outskirts to the beach proper, more and more people fill the sand and surf, the gathering itself having attracted flocks of Wingulls and Pelippers looking for an easy meal.

Lips pursing, Klaus briefly flips up his sunglasses to take stock of the Wingulls soaring just beyond, his brow furrowing at his last memory of his entanglement with the birds above. He pulls a pokeball from the depths of his shorts' pocket and releases a Lapras into the shallows.

"Feel like playing sniper," he asks Lapras, the pokemon nodding enthusiastically as he spies the Wingulls. Giving a nod of his own, Klaus makes an absent little motion with his hand towards the Wingulls to direct, "Ice Beam, then." Bolt of ice after bolt of ice peppers the air, sending the bulk of the birds scattering, though one particularly unlucky one is struck, causing it to dead-weight in the air and fall straight down...

"You should take a swimming class at the Rec Centre if you're going to be out here at night alone," Klaus reprimands, his eyebrow arched dubiously as he peers past Mint towards the desolate stretch of beach just beyond. "I don't like finding dead bodies washed up. Gotta call the police and everything." He kicks a foot lightly into the beach sand as if for emphasis, his toes buried in the wet sand making a crumbling little hill in the wake of the action.

A soft hum sounds from Awhistle at his trainer's words, the Lapras attention swinging to Mint with a thoughtful expression as the green-haired man offers an apology. A tinny whistle sounds from the Lapras in return, his great brown eyes closing briefly before the pokemon looks at Mint again - all seemingly forgiven.

"Right," he them murmurs awkwardly, his hand lifting to scratch at the back of his neck. "I should. Get back to work. Or something." Klaus jabs the thumb of his opposite back towards the open ocean.

When a wild Scatterbug appeared on the path Klaus paused thoughtfully, his lips pursing before he utters an careless, "Yeah, why not."

"Infernal Parade," directs Klaus to his Typhlosion, the pokemon in question nodding sharply with understanding. As ghostly flames manifest onto the air, Klaus slips a pokeball from his pocket, and the Typhlosion merrily plucks fireball after fireball from the sky to hurl at the poor Scatterbug.

After a few rounds of attack a pokeball follows to capture the hapless bug. He hadn't found a name for his Typhlosion yet, but at least he'd caught something.

Brow furrowing at the news the Luxray is feral, Klaus hums what he hopes is a soothing note in the electric pokemon's direction. He really hoped that was a poorly landed joke, but given his luck it likely wasn't.

Finally reaching his destination of standing beside the Lapras, Klaus's head tilts at Mint's words. With a snort, he glances askance before supplying with an arched eyebrow, "Do you like swimming through warm water on just your crotch?" He then jerks his thumb back towards the water behind himself, continuing, "I mean I don't need it but it's a hell of a lot easier to go out in a wetsuit than jeans and a t-shirt on Anwhistle. You're gunna get soaked either way, yeah? Dunno about you but I don't like wearing wet jeans." He pauses a moment, considering before answering honestly, "Kinda depends. There's some buoys out there a couple of the local groups use to collect data." Pursing his lips, he guesses, "About one hundred meters?"

He nods slowly as Mint assures him the Luxray is trained, though his face betrays serious doubts as to the validity of the other man's statement. "So what are you doing out here," he questions instead.

"It's late. Not exactly ideal beach-going time."

With a thoughtful look levelled upon the Whirlipede, Klaus makes an absent motion to his Typhlosion to direct, "Flame Wheel." The Typhlosion gives a sharp nod, the ghostly flames wreathing her burning brighter. Leaping with a surprising agility given the size of her frame, the Typhlosion curls into herself and slams into the Whirlipede, sending the poor bug flying.

"Hey, good job," Klaus praises with a touch of surprised warmth, the young man moving to scratch the Typhlosion's head. "Got any name ideas? Whirly-flame?" He teases, a laugh sounding from Klaus when the Typhlosion huffs.

"Yeah, yeah. Let's keep going."

Klaus wasn't normally in the area, but since he already was for an odds-and-ends job, he absently cuts off the beaten path and deeper into the forest. At his side roams his Hisuian Typhlosion, the placid creature's ghostly flames licking at his hand without warmth as he idly scratches her behind the ears.

He would have to decide on a name for her soon - he sure as hell wasn't going to call her whatever impossibly long name had been on that pedigree form given to him by yoshiro shioda. Humming thoughtfully as he mills through possible names in his head, he pauses as a shadow crosses their path.
