“Oh?” Johanna looked slightly surprised. As she returned her gaze to the Dragapult. She tried to see if there was anything different, besides the shiny coloration. “He is?” She looked at Mars as if she didn’t quite believe him.

“Oh this is going to sound really rude. But, is he one of the special ones or just a regular shiny variation?” Was she perhaps trying to dig deeper into Mars’ pool of knowledge, perhaps? Was she trying to keep this conversation going because she had nothing better to do? Definitely.

Meanwhile at the Ghost Forum.

Opinions were being shared. The gathering ever-growing had attracted yet another member. This one is a Dusknoir. All too eager to share in its sense of art. To it, Art was purpose and duty. To serve those in need, those whose souls could not pass on to the afterlife.

This opinion was taken well by the masses. For they were all lost spirits one way or the other. And so Dusknoir became yet another individual amidst the forum.

Megan did not want her thanks, not yet. But Johanna would give them to her nevertheless. And as they walked her mind began to wander. Wander to what would happen when Megan DID find someone else, to the consequences of her actions. And she realized then, she didn’t being walked to her future captors by Megan. At least in doing so Megan would be safe from the other Rockets on this mountain.

“True true,” was all that Johanna mustered as she tried to focus on just moving forward. She knew Megan was right, she couldn’t argue against that, nor did she really want to. She just wanted to accept her fate and let Megan guide her on this path.

Johanna was pleased to see that Kyrenai understood. Though she stayed blissfully ignorant to her Happiny’s little display of disapproval.

But she did not argue the case instead the topic moved on to how long the Chimchar had been in Kyrenai’s possession. “Of course,” Johanna replied. The notion of removing personality from the Pokémon was something she disliked. “I agree. Honestly, I have never understood the people who think their Pokémon has to be void of personality.” Johanna took a sip of her drink.

By now the Happiny was back to sipping from her drink.

“I have actually had Acacia for quite a while.” She looked thoughtful.

The Happiny said something though the language was always foreign to the human ear.

“I have had her since I was ten.” At least thirteen years of service. And yet the Happiny had not chosen to evolve. Not that Johanna cared as long as Acacia was happy.

The Happiny gave a confirming nod.

The maze of corridors was both an ally and an enemy right now. The more she ran, the heavier she breathed. The more she ran the more fatigue she felt. And yet the monstrous ghoul followed right behind her. As if it knew exactly where they were going.

And yet she could not stop nor could she fight. She didn’t have her Pokémon.

Why’d I ever accept to do this? Her run-in with Genesect seemed like a pleasant stroll compared to this.

She wanted to call out for help. To hope that some mighty hero would swoop in and save her damsel-in-distress-ass. But she knew no such thing would come. All she had to rely on was her legs, her lungs, and hopefully a lockable door at some point. And this only helped to fuel the terror she felt.

Her outlook on the future did most certainly seem grim. And yet she hurried along.

With the Grunts hindered in moving further. Johanna and Megan hurried on.

Claydol joined Megan in helping Johanna along. While her legs hadn’t been wounded they felt increasingly heavy. By now the wound would surely have slowed down its bleeding as what liquid escaped would be caught by the bandages.

Johanna shot Megan a worried look, or at least as worried as she could manage as she noticed the warmth emanating from her friend.

Megan, please don’t exert yourself too much…

She wanted to say those words. But refrained. “Yeah seems like we did…” Johanna replied. And yet she had a looming suspicion that she would be forced to fight one way or the other.

“It’s okay,” Johanna replied, sending the Claydol levitating closer and closer as support. “By the way… Thank you for helping me.” She couldn’t remember if she had let Megan know already. And even if she had, surely it wouldn’t hurt to say it again.

Johanna did catch the faint hint of recognition. For a moment Johanna thought Kyrenai might ask about her family. But, no such questions came. Instead, she commented on the name her Happiny had been given.

The Happiny placed the drink down before she spoke in her Happiny language, making gestures in the process that suggested that it was all Johanna’s choice.

But Johanna was not about to take all the credit. “It was a team effort. I found a few names and then she picked the one she liked the most.” Johanna watched as the pair seemed to play some manner of stationary tag.

This diversion gave Happiny much-needed time to look displeased with Johanna and her constant need to validate the efforts of others at the cost of herself. But the moment Johanna would look her way, the service-minded smile would be plastered on her face, revealing naught of this displeasure.

“So, how long have you had Cin?” Johanna asked.

Her body was heavy. She felt bad for having Megan supporting her so. But what else could she do?

The Battle began behind them. Pokémon were hit, fires spewed and earthly powers were used! Megan had an idea. Johanna gave a nod and strained a “Yeah, it can.”

Claydol having heard Megan pronounce its species name turned to her for a brief moment, listening in on what the woman had to say. It gave a nod and prepared its psychic powers.

When the Beam cut through the ledge, the two canines quickly jumped to their trainers. A pale white glow surrounded them as they protected their trainers from any trouble that might fall upon them using STRENGTH.

Meanwhile, Claydol would protect the pair from any uncontrolled rubble with its EXTRASENSORY powers. As they both made their escape. Johanna tried to put in as much effort as possible, perhaps even more so than what was advisable.

For now, the Grunts were left behind, halted by the rubble. But for how long?

Poipole Examination (MAGMA)

Her pen did not stop moving, not once as she scribbled down all the little details Chu-e was giving her.

While she wasn’t certain what the normal meal size of a Poipole was, she couldn’t write down binge eating. But she did consider it. Chu-e listed some food items it preferred and some not so much. She noted those down too. And noted that from those items alone it seemed to be an omnivore of sorts.

But what followed surprised her more so than the other things mentioned. “Really? Well, I suppose it makes sense that the native language of Poipoles wouldn’t be understood by our worlds Pokémon.” Johanna mused. “But it could also, as you said, just be them not being fond of it.” More scribbles.

“How do you find the communication between you and Chunk?” She asked. Eyes gazing towards the Poipole to see if it responded to her talking about it.

“Woah, really?” Johanna looked somewhat amazed, and perhaps even a bit star-struck. While she wouldn’t consider herself Teravolts Nr. 1 fan. Someone had already claimed that title, she did find their music enjoyable enough for them to be on her workout playlist.

Anyhow their conversation moved on. He began to speak of the Hatchery that opened some months back. “Oh yeah, I heard about that. Never got around to checking it out.” She paused. “I heard some of the Pokémon that came out of that Hatchery had some rather peculiar features.” She was of course, completely oblivious to the fact that one such Pokémon was right in front of her.

The Roaring forum was beginning to be an attraction of its own. Ghosts from near and far gently floated to its location. One such Cofagrigus joined the ensemble. Old and wise, its shadowy arms gestured as it joined the chorus of opinions.

But alas its opinion was perhaps more radical than the others. For it believed Ghosts were unable to truly define what art is. All of them being dead made them unable to understand such a living concept. Art was merely for the living to enjoy and for the dead to ponder.

This once more sparked great debate amongst the forum of Ghosts. Some spoke harshly of its opinion while others applauded it for the bravery it took to admit to such opinions. But one thing was coming amongst all the ghosts, they all allowed the Mummy Pokémon to stay, and so it considered doing.

Passage after passage. Door after door. The continued sensation of isolation was wearing down upon her mental strength. But she was sure to run into someone right? There were other people in here. She had seen them at the beginning. They had taken different paths, but they were here. Surely this Haunted House was not so large that they could simply up and disappear.

A brief lapse of judgment made her open a door before checking for any sounds. Her eyes shot wide as a tall ghoulish woman stood at the far exit. Slowly Johanna backed out and closed the door. And all was well. Thinking it was just another part of the scenery.

But then she heard the slamming against the door. The rustling of the doorknob as the ghoulish woman tried to open the door.

Johanna jumped backward in fear. “NO NO NO NO NONO NO NO.” She cried out in fear as she hurried through another door. But she heard the Ghoulish woman behind her follow.

And so the hunt was on.

Johanna had never run this quickly before. She felt the looming dread come closer and closer. Would she get away or not? Well, she didn’t know just how close to death she was.

But somehow she managed. A sharp turn here, and another one there. The Genesect lost her, again she didn’t know that.

What she did know was that she somehow found the building where the last Generator was. And well. She began the process all over again. This time she figured that the Genesect would surely be heading there so she didn’t have a whole lot of time to work with.

The Pressure began to build up. She fiddled with the generator as best she could. But the mountain pressure was growing increasingly disruptive.

Would she manage this in time?

Johanna had no words but acceptance and she figured Megan didn’t need to hear that.

What they needed was to get out of this fog, away from this mountain and all the dangers that lurked here. Johanna didn’t notice the glances. Her body frantically tried to rebuild the lost blood, and mend the wound. Bouts of fatigue and dizziness washed over her from time to time as it all became so very much. She just wanted to return to those carefree days before all of this.

But Megan was there to support her. An arm slung around her back offering additional safety.

But support meant little when two scary hounds were charging at it. Luckily for the pair, Hydreigon was more awake than Claydol on the matter. Each head aims to do damage to either canine or the trainer. Both Pokémon were halted in their tracks. A shimmering green barrier quickly enveloped them, PROTECTing them from damage. While their trainers jumped behind a convenient rocky formation.

But Claydol was not about to just let Johanna be attacked. With what passed fury in its gaze EARTH POWER welled up beneath the hounds cracking the earth into jacked spikes that tried to tear into the limbs of the canine Pokémon. But what shivering barrier was left kept them somewhat safe as they jumped away.

The Houndoom spit FLAMETHROWER in the direction of the Hydreigon, and the Mightyena charged toward the Claydol Attempting to CRUNCH down upon the doll-like Pokémon.
