The Rocket, understandably, seemed startled. Judging by the way other League members were encroaching he had no doubt any Rocket's with them were occupied. For good measure he lets off another shot behind her, encouraging her retreat. Then when she's out of view, he takes an educated guess of the areas she'd proceed through. Once he figures out his plan, he takes care of his shit, whispers order's to Hopper and TELEPORTS to the ground to wait. Rifle slung on his back and pokemon waiting. "Baldwin, get ready." as they wait for the roiling fog to reveal their opponent.

Johanna ran and ran. She had lost sight of where she was going. The fog had helped with that. But at least it had helped her escape from PENELOPE LIVY whom she had been certain would defeat her in the long run.

She had figured that it was better not to take chances. Especially if she wanted the chance to get home from this alive and unchained. Thoughts of Megan crossed her mind for a moment as she moved past graves and rocky formations.

Drapion and Meowstic were getting a moment’s respite from the prior battle, instead by her side, a Claydol hovered. With a quick motion did the Claydol halt the young woman’s progress. It sensed something, yet it could not quite discern what it was.

Luckily if anyone had spotted her, then her identity would surely still be hidden by her brandless black clothes with gloves, and a simple white smiley-face mask adorning her face. The only thing that might reveal her would be the long blue hair, which she had done her best to tuck into her clothes though strands of blue might still be visible.

Young. That's all he can tell from the posture and even then he couldn't be certain. Paxton steels himself, taking in a deep breath and expelling all his emotions. The most important thing right now, aside form his own survival, was the primal point. He needed to get back to it quickly, but it would be good to route out the vermin first. Underestimating small fry wasn't a habit he liked to keep. [break][break]

Soemthing like a magic circle, glowing pink, appeared at Johanna and her Claydol's feet, locking them in for combat. The jangling of keys gives them away but Paxton is already stepping out, eyes locked on the Rocket. "Give up, and get out." he said, words echoing a phrase he may have once said to Calem Pollet . Though, at the time, he may have been in a worse position.

Something akin to a Magical circle locked them in place. Surprised she didn’t know what to do or say.

Luckily Claydol wasn’t burdened by emotions like that. The moment the circle became known it began to charge its energies into a powerful beam just waiting to be released.

Johanna was about to answer Paxton.

But Claydol locked onto the man as it decided the man was hostile. Before Johanna even uttered a word the Claydol fired a thin HYPER BEAM aimed at vaporizing any enemies found in its path, and perhaps even the pesky thing locking them in battle.

(Exaggerated but this is what Claydol want’s to do to Paxton and anything in his path. And yes I am just looking for an excuse to use that gif)

Paxton is grateful Baldwin intercepts. The Klefki blasted back a FLASH CANON meeting the HYPER BEAM. He took cover, the force of the blasts meeting blowing back the bit of shrubs and grass. Once safe, Baldwin is also pushed back. A fraction of power hits, and they still shook in pain,but at least their trainer was fine. [break][break]

"Push through it." He ordered, grabbing a side arm as the Klefki moved in, glowing ominously before FOUL PLAY activated against the Claydoll, trying to move quickly.

Beam met beam in a battle of wills resulted in a pushback of both Pokemon and trainer alike. Though one clearly more experienced found cover before the other.

Johanna found herself pushed into a nearby rock formation sharp edges trying to tear her clothes apart, but it managed to stay whole somehow.

Tired from the beam, Claydol could not move before the foul play was used against him. Pain washed over him as he tried to retort by summoning rocks filled with ANCIENTPOWER as soon as he could.

Meanwhile Johanna forced herself back on her feet, head dizzy she needed to locate the other trainer before they got into another stand off.

Baldwin moved in on the Claydoll, lightly jangling as it went in for a DRAINING KISS before promptly being smacked back by ANCIENT POWER. The Klefki is sent into a spin while a shot rings out, a bullet cutting through the fog and leaving a deep gash on the Rocket's shoulder.

The bullet digs itself into the rock, as Paxton moves in coming out of the fog towards Johanna. He'd not glaring, more so focused so intently on Johanna. There's no question he'd shoot again, out of warnings or pity. "Next round, between the ribs and through the heart. 3 minutes until you bleed out." he stated, finger hovering just outside the trigger well.

Ancientpower pushed Klefki away before a draining kiss could connect. But while doing so the unthinkable happened.

Claydol looked to its trainer Panic to be found in its otherwise so usually calm gaze.

It took a moment for Johanna to realize what had happened, a moment before brain was flooded with pain. But when it did, she yelped in pain as her face contorted into a grimace because of it.

Paxton spoke of another threat. Johanna barely listened as her hand tried to apply pressure.

Knowing well that this might sting Johanna as well. The Claydol whipped up another bout of ANCIENT POWER sent straight for Paxton and his partner hoping to divert them while he got Johanna away.

Maybe it was time to just start blasting. At the Rocket dropped to their knees damn near, his finger moved to the trigger. He inhaled through his nose ready to make good on his threat, vaguely aware of the ANCIENT POWER charging again. [break][break]

He pulls the trigger just as he's launched away from the the trainer and into bushes and trees, halted only by the rough slam into the back of a gravestone. A loud grunt of pain echoed, another bullet burying itself into the mud and rock behind Johanna. [break][break]

Baldwin hesitated to leave, only moving forward as he heard signs of life. With both targets lined up and their trainer out of the way, the Klefki blasted the pair with FLASH CANON, ready to push them off the mountain themselves if they had to.

Another shot just barely missed Johanna.

While the pain was fighting for supremacy something else within her was starting to push her forward. Forcing her way back up she set into a sprint away.

But the Klefki wanted one last attack. If the prior Flash Cannon was anything to go by Claydol couldn’t divert with anything less than a Hyper Beam. And he couldn’t manage one of those right now. And so there was one last thing he could do. Quickly touching Johanna, Claydol Teleported away with its trainer.

Again the distance was short, disrupted by something or someone. But that didn’t matter. They’d managed to avoid the Flash Cannon. They had managed to get away from Paxton… Now Johanna just had to manage to survive.
