“I.. like you too.” She reaffirms aloud, expression visibly softer as hands fold over her lap. Being vulnerable isn’t her thing, and yet, it’s less agonizing in his presence. Honesty’s the best policy. [break][break]
“That’s why I worry I might ruin what we have. I’ve never gone.. “steady” or anything much for long.” She smiles, bittersweet. “But I really like you, James. So I’m a bit conflicted on what I should do with t-these feelings of mine.” [break][break]

James’s is hardly the bold type, so when he does that it does take her off guard but in a pleasant way. Truthfully, she liked whenever he touched her. [break][break]
Now seated at the table Abigail looks over everything he made. It’s well put together and a balanced meal. She smiles briefly, cutting into her a steak to take a bite.[break][break]

Her gaze curiously fixates on the vegetables. Abigail didn’t dislike cooking but it wasn’t something she did often. Cutting the greens though sounded simple enough.[break][break]

She keeps her knuckles tucked in, fingers clear of the blade as she starts cutting up the vegetables with professional precision. Them working together in the kitchen felt oddly intimate. That smile of his doesn’t help cease the insistent pounding of her heart.
