When it’s over, sparks still vading from his vision, he can do nothing but watch the Registeel beat the ground and disappear back from whatever hell whence it came.

He’s shifted, slightly, fallen down with sinking sand, and he’s resting on something more solid than a dune. It helps him to stand, adrenaline shakes fading; he swallows against his parched throat. Otulissa shrieks from somewhere above him and settles onto his shoulder, smoldering and missing a few feathers, but alive.

He finds sandstone steps hewn in the slope and scales it, looking around at those who continued to stand. Mostly Rockets, he realized, though the thought brought him no joy; even though they all seemed keen to regroup and cry it out together, bleating into the sandy desolation like sheep, ringing around and coming together to discover their singular brain cell.

Onyx wants to keep himself distant. He doesn’t share any loyalty with these people, not really, even though they’re all, technically, on the same team. He’s just a grunt. He finds a sidepath that dips into the ruins, and runs a hand over a faded, silver-colored plate.

Like the brand?” He shakes his head, letting his shoulder bump against cool catacomb, laughing a little bit at the sheer level of bullshittery that’s been dropped upon them. “No. That’s way too capitalist. Oh, god. What are we even doing here?”

Aurelia stepped out from behind cover to conjure up a blizzard amongst all the dogs (and the sword), while Petra leaped into the air, wings flaring, and buzzed over in a serpentine drive by, dropping boulders over the enemy ranks with rock slide, with the most concentrated damage aimed towards the Houndoom.

His body reacted on it’s own, left arm coming up to deflect the grapple and protect his face, right arm hooking under for a suckerpunch to the gut. He wasn’t a champion of illegal underground MMA combat for nothing. He attempts to position his body so that Noel is stuck between Shaymin’s attack and Onyx, like a friendly fire meat shield.
