The Scyther backing off put Lucan at a disadvantage. He had stubby little legs and noodly little arms-- good for close range grappling, but he did not have a ranged attack one in his playbook.

The vacuum wave at a distance lifted him up and spun him around like clothes in a washing machine. It was only by Onyx touching the Mega-stone in his pocket and activating the transformation that Lucan was able to break free of the windy assault, wings bursting from his back in a spray of olive-yellow blood, as he couched his horn and flew towards the Scyther with another superpower.

His Pinsir’s chitinous carapace gleamed nigh-gold; Lucan’s teeth were sharp and gnashing, his horns snapping and strong. Onyx wondered how long it would take before he got his shit bashed into the ground, which seemed to keep happening.

The compressed air hits and breaks over Lucan’s carapace; some scratch hard lines into the chitin, but the strength of the shell manages to stop the slashes from hitting anything vital. Claws outstretched for the small bird, Lucan attempts to grapple it and slam it into the ground with storm throw.

The Shaymin clings like a tick. Lucan squawks, perturbed by the hedgehog’s stubbornness, and does a fun dance where he flails his held leg and hops around on the other foot, trying to dislodge the thing, while the insect in question attempts to bite his ankles.

He ends up flopping forward on his front to try and thwack the Shaymin against the ground in a pilates-like move, trying to bash it against the ground with another superpower.

Onyx isn’t entirely sure what happens next. Lucan’s got the Froakie dead to rights, poised to deliver a disastrously hard hit, and somehow, he misses. The bug crashes into the ground and is hit with recoil, causing his trainer to inhale and exhale measuredly through his nose to keep his temper.

They still have a little bit more juice left in the Mega-Evolution, so Lucan picks himself up, dusts himself off, and tries to reverse people’s elbow the slippery frog with superpower.
