Roze had smiled as the group made their way into the desert, "Roze Falkner, I hope to be of service and that we're able to resolve this in a timely fashion," she'd introduced herself in a rather curt and polite manner. Roze had been unfamiliar with this cast and crew, and likely fairly outclassed given that she was merely a rookie, though she'd wanted to come no matter what after hearing about the havoc caused by supposed titans rampaging through the desert environ. Truthfully, the raven-haired conservationist had been somewhat concerned, it wasn't that long ago that she'd had to deal with a rampaging Flygon terrorising local fossil pokémon alongside a particular archaeologist named howard slayte in this very same desert.[break][break]

"... I do hope those pokémon are doing fine," she'd muttered to herself, raising a hand over her eyes to shield them from the bright sun bearing heat from overhead. She'd have to push the thought to the side for now, what mattered was calming down these supposed titanic pokémon before they caused any harm. Though she couldn't quite imagine the logistics of a pokémon that towered over others so easily, there were very few pokémon that reached that size that she was aware of, and many were ocean-dwelling.[break][break]

"We ought to be ready for anything, please make sure to be careful," she'd added, hoping that there wouldn't be any further complications that came with the dangers of fighting whatever colossus of a Lost they come across.

No rest for the weary it seemed, no time to truly take stock of what had happened and adjust to new uncertainties. There was just enough time to heal, rest, try to find some semblance of normal before the region and its calamaties took hold again, now in the form of titanic Pokemon surfacing from the depths of the desert.[break][break]
The ecosystem of the desert had already been terribly disrupted by the recent eruption of Mt. Pyre, it was no wonder that the desert was fraught with imbalance and trouble, but to think that suddenly giant Pokemon that had been asleep perhaps for who knew how long were emerging, ready to lay waste, it didn't sound much unlike the Kyurem in the icelands... Yuina had a lot of questions, points of investigation, even bringing along some equipment that she had already used in the desert before to take readings of energy levels and other unnatural ocurrences. But before any real investigating could take place, they needed to do what they could to fell the gigantic desert golems before they became too great a threat.[break][break]
As far as rangers went, Yuina was assigned with a newer cadet to trek into the desert, and they were too assigned an officer that she was familiar with, Gwyar Wledig.[break]
"The Pokemon of the desert have seen far worse already. They do live in some of the harshest conditions Hoenn has to offer besides. What we should be most concerned about is the continued spreading of tera crystals though," Yuina returned to cadet Roze Falkner, trudging through the sands. She glanced at a particular radar she had with her, one for discerning various energy signatures.[break][break]
"Or worse, that these titanic Pokemon might be induced with dynergy..."

With everything exploding it seemed sensical that Rocket would shoot out feelers. Feelers that could be easily chopped off and that they didn’t mind losing. Like an anemone, of sorts, if there were a Pokemon for that.

The Gym Leader had remained mostly silent, introducing himself politely to his two companions before clamping his jaw shut and setting his eyes on the horizon.

He was not there to hypothesize on the how or why of these titans.

He was there to stab them to death. Plain and simple.

Not the only thing he might stab, either, by the looks of it.

"... Friend of yours, madam?" The Gym Leader asked of Yuina Higashi, spine curling back to lift him to his full height, lime green eyes on the younger man.

While it wasn't rare for reckless hoennians to come sniffing around at the slightest suggestion of danger, this one appeared particularly... aggressive, towards one of his teammates.

He gestured subtly for Roze Falkner to help him surround the suspicious man.

Roze had hoped for the best as Yuina seemed to mention the general rigor and hardship of life in the desert, though she'd been somewhat puzzled by the mention of tera crystals—still not quite well-versed on the various phenomenon that seemed to surround the region in comparison to flora and fauna. Unfortunately, Roze while well-educated wasn't... really that street smart, seeming to fail to pick up on Gwyar's subtle hint about Onyx, she'd slightly cocked her head with a look of confusion painted clearly across her face.[break][break]

Before she could really figure out what had been meant by the blonde man, the grand behemoth that had risen to the skies had interrupted any real thought for further discussion. Roze had struggled to comprehend the sheer scale of the flying titan, though she'd remained steadfast and ready despite her surprise, "Please stay safe, everyone!" she'd thrown a poké ball, releasing her Quaquaval, the preening dancer crying out in defiance of the grand psychic-type, "Sunshower, dear, Rain Dance if you will!" Roze had requested, her Quaquaval's steps seeming to call down dark clouds that had begun to soak the scorching sands and blot the sun out further alongside the gargantuan beast.

A surge of energy began to ping on one of the devices Yuina held, and for a moment she raised her hand up in an attempt to block the sun to try and read the screen better.[break]
The instant a particular voice carried out over the sand though, Yuina bristled, sharp amber eyes looking up from her radars, to find onyx straub.[break][break]
"What are you doing here? Get sent into the coal mines again," she leered, she couldn't fathom that he was there for any good reason, for any actual purpose outside of drawing the short stick again. She already knew that he was good at doing what he was told and nothing else.[break][break]
"Friend? No," Yuina glowered at Gwyar Wledig's curt words, and she had half a mind to give the officer the go ahead, until the sands began to shift dramatically at a sudden surge of wind rushing over them. Yuina shielded her eyes, digging her feet into the sand to avoid being blown away, to find they were faced by one such gargantuan Pokemon lofting in the air above them.[break][break]
The hairs on Yuina's arms stood on end at the immense psychic power that emanated from the titanic glyph. Fortunately she knew just who would be able to withstand the Sigilyph's psychic energy as she drew out the ancient ultra ball of Daikenki, glancing to Roze Falkner who made an attempt to even the playing field with RAIN DANCE.[break][break]
"Good idea Roze, we should prepare a defense first," Yuina offered as Daikenki emerged from the hiss of the steam release. The Samurott barked, fangs bared at the sight of their adversary looming above them and drew his seamitars from their sheaths in a Swords Dance.

In that case, it would be wise to help support the brainy member of their rag-tag… team, he guessed. You could call it a team. All of them staring down the barrel of empty Sigilyph eyes. Yeah, a team.

“Your time to shine, brainiac,” he says, somewhat sad his smile is hidden behind his mask. He likes to think his wink helps contribute to the swagger Rana puffs at Daikenki.

Yuina's attitude towards the man was not promising.

It was rather suggestive of his allegiances, too— not that the man was doing himself any favors either.

But there wasn't time to deal with this likely rocket— their actual target came then.

A Sigilyph soared into view, massive in size and with a weighty presence.

Immediately, everyone fell in line, even their non-friend, with Ms. Falkner seizing the initiative by bringing forth stormy clouds.

With Higashi and the man empowering the Samurott next, Gwyar quickly fell in line, his hand flashing to release his Blastoise.

"Helping Hand." He intoned before it could blast away at the titan before it, causing it to snap its gaze towards him.

Catching the target of this assistance, the Blastoise shone brightly before sending said light towards the Samurott, the sound of booming claps thundering through the desert as the light enveloped the other water-type.

Then, the Blastoise spun on its heel before launching forth, its carapace spinning wildly as it soared towards the Sigilyph.

Roze had nodded in affirmation as Yuina Higashi had confirmed her atttempt to shore themselves up, noticing further her allies further pouring assistance towards the young veteran's Samurott, Roze had opted to do the same, hoping for a concise victory to lessen the impact of at least this behemoth that had risen from the dunes.[break][break]

She'd been curious enough to notice the antagonistic relationship between her seniors towards the strange seemingly affluent onyx straub, though she'd had little time to comment on it herself, noticing the shimmering barrier that had surrounded the Sigilyph shattering with Gwyar Wledig's breakthrough, "wonderful work, Mr. Wledig!" she'd shouted positive reinforcements, her positivity and relief rather apparent on her face and body language.[break][break]

"Sunshower, let's follow suit, we'll help Ms. Higashi, a little bit of Coaching, please!" she'd called further, her Quaquaval had dashed to the aquatic ronin, graceful and agile, a frenetic set of steps seemed to boost morale and power—to further bolster the Samurott—and set a tempo and direction to hopefully further their cause.[break][break]

In all her energy, Roze had been somewhat swept up in the flow of things, failing to notice the strange runing upon the behemoth's wings, though even if she had noticed, her expertise laid firmly within biology rather than history and society.

It was perhaps an over exertion of power by the Sigilyph that broke its dynergy infused barrier, the energy disipating and glittering along the heat waves of desert sand. Was it not used to this form? Was this power foreign to the Pokemon and it was faltering in trying to display this new strength?[break]
There wasn't enough time to ask questions, even though she was so curious about what was taking place that the titanic Pokemon was here at all... Wait...[break][break]
"Wait, wait do you see that? There's... there's something on its wings," Yuina remarked, she could swear that there were symbols... She glanced at onyx straub, a side eye if anything else, but... He was encouraging her? Even if his tone in calling her a braniac didn't exactly sound friendly.[break][break]
"Alright, I'll try not to disappoint," Yuina returned. With Roze Falkner's support to Daikenki, the Quaquaval having already laid out the ground work for some rain water to work in favor for their water types, it was time to get on the offensive.[break]
"Daikenki, hanzai," Yuina called, urging the Samurott forward. He hissed, fangs bared beneath his raised maw, drawing out both of his seamitars from their sheaths. Daikenki rushed forward, water streaming from the edges of his blades as he moved in to begin to slash at the Sigilyph, Aqua Cutter coming down and beating into its figure in sharp waves.[break][break]
With Daikenki maintaining its focus, Yuina was studious, taking in the symbols that it bore within its wings. They looked foreign, otherworldly almost, surely more ancient than anything being avidly studied... In fact... It almost looked like...[break][break]
"It's The Golem's language," Yuina called over the sounds of attack, sprays of sand and the rumbles of the gargantuan Sigilyph. It had to be, it looked almost exactly like the dotted braille language that could be found in some of the cavernous depths of the desert. She studied it some, after some expeditions with Howard.

The energy barrier around the Sigilyph explodes into shards. Yuina Higashi is saying she sees something on the thing’s wings and Onyx has no idea how she could do that with all the sand and other bullshit going on.

Her Samurott does some-- honestly something amazing where he suddenly has swords? Onyx had no idea he could do that. He steps up next to Yuina while she’s, apparently, thinking very hard.

“Must be the glasses,” he says, as a way of congratulating her for her translation, while Rano prepares for his time to do cool shit with sword’s dance, perhaps inspired by Yuina’s Samurott.

"Take cover!" Gwyar ordered in response to their historian's warnings, moving behind large boulders and laid about pillars in preparation for the Sigilyph's next attack.

Noting the swords dance initiated by the unknown man's pokemon, Gwyar shifted his attention back to his Blastoise, nodding at it.

It's cannons welled up with a glowing green water, before blasting Life Dew at the Greninja, washing away the injuries from the titan's earlier attack in preparation to their offensive.
