A lie not through clenched teeth, though at the very least, filled teeth as his sibling’s most recent concoction quite literally triggered his fight or flight reflexes. His intent had been far from offense, however, so as he did his best not to mind the odd tastes that filled his mouth (there was a conscious effort not to grimace as he felt an odd crunch with a bite, as well), he shifted his gaze with the seeming intent of taking in the surroundings.[break][break]

With enough effort, he found enough willpower to swallow the bite down, all while spying a little Omanyte in the distance and taking another capsule to toss at it.[break][break]

With a soft sigh, he picked a nearby pair of scissors up, as well, and wasted little more than a beat in running one of its blades through the plastic to begin spreading and prepping the contents for one of the flames. ”Not to say I’m immune to mistakes, of course— but it just…wasn’t my mistakes that scarred me so~.”[break][break]

His gaze drifted towards the bonfires afar for a moment, gauging how many of them had been brought to life before beginning to lift the meats from their marinades and skewering them.[break][break]

Though he hadn’t touched upon it, he simply hummed in the midst of her praise, and he simply wondered if she’d been serious or not within it.[break][break]

”If she’s really the type,” he started off, chuckling, ”then I feel like she’d sooner question why it doesn’t work when she has it, honestly~.”[break][break]

He narrowed his eyes as the words met his ears, watching as she took the bottle from him before leaning forward with arms upon his knees, and with hands folded loosely within the space between them. Amber hues trailed towards the flame before them as he hummed, idly mulling over the vast array of words that he could say, or should say, or otherwise.[break][break]

”...What was the situation, if you don’t mind me asking?” had been the words to eventually leave his lips.

For a moment, he simply found himself gazing upon the familiar shard he'd picked out for himself with a soft, awe inspired gander. He'd seen similar little designs in the form of stones he'd seen between other coworkers of his, and had even seen a few in select places he'd been in, but he'd never quite had the chance to see the real thing for himself.[break][break]

Between this shard and the first one he'd left with his Noivern, he judged that maybe he needed just...two more things to possibly replicate the object? One, even? That's is fusing them together could even yield the same thing, however— and that's if his hunch about what the shard had been was even correct.[break][break]

Nevertheless, however, he tucked the shard along with his findings before averting his gaze to another spot within the sands just a brisk swim away. He swam over as his Gyarados continued searching the nearby seas, brushing his hand along the grains of sand to uncover the next object.[break][break]

After so many successful dunks, it only made sense for there to be an eventual miss— but that, in itself, only made the urge to land a hit all the more necessary. After some exploring through the event following his most recent toss, he'd found his way back to the front of the line again wasting little time in digging his fingers beneath the form of one of the baseballs laid out for use and tossing it into the air.[break][break]

With a crisp sound of impact as his palm met it, he caught it before lining it up with the target, just as he'd done prior.[break][break]

"This one's comin' straight for you, ma'am~!" he called out with a grin, giving a two-fingered salute that he'd found to become commonplace with each return before chucking the ball forward.[break][break]

He broke the surface of the water with some odder cross between a hiss and a laugh, briefly shaking the cascades of brine from his hair and wiping them from his face, altogether. For just a few moments, he glanced around to gather his bearings and his Mantine's location before beginning to move once more, making a brisk stroke towards it and landing a stable hand atop the seat secured upon it to haul himself back up.[break][break]

He'd just been about to take a flight away from a concluded meeting on the island before the happenings upon the shoreline caught his attention. He gazed afar from atop the back of his Dragonite, brows furrowing and eyes narrowing faintly while attempting to catch a lay of the land.[break][break]

After some debate, he tapped the drake and directed her to fly out to get a closer look.[break][break]

Before long, the sight of scattered Eelektross and Tynamo entered his vision, and as he began reaching for a spare Pokeball atop his belt, his eyes widened for a split second as a beast of the former seemed to lunge at them during their decent. He hung onto the winged dragon ferrying him as she swerved just quick enough to steer clear of its furor.[break][break]

"Geez, look at the teeth on that sucker...!" he murmured, smirking in wry amusement despite the narrowly evaded dangers. His eyes dwindled upon the very creature that snapped out at them before he pointed down towards it, winding up and adding a quick, "Dragon Rush it," before tossing the ball down moments after the requested attack went out.[break][break]
