Nenet brightens as Zev agrees to another dance, and the pair step together as if made for one another; the sun, caught by the moon, now orbit one another. She has been caught up in the lab far too much recently - for as much as she loves her work she is still a creature of the sun, basking beneath its radiance like few others are willing to tolerate.

She hums briefly in acknowledgement of Zev's suggestion, a low laugh sounding form her chest as she teases him softly, "You know I do. I believe there's one on prehistoric Hoennite pokemon that looked promising as well."

They step together, never missing a beat as they spin around the dance floor and all too soon the song wanes, its last notes fading into the darkness of the room. Coming to a stop, Nenet pauses for a moment, frozen gracefully against Zev; she gently squeezes his shoulder, a gesture of fondness, before the pair separates.

Nenet takes the time to applaud the orchestra before music once more winds upon the air.
[break][break]
"Let's go get something to drink," she urges. Her fingertips twitch towards her clutch as it buzzes and garners her attention briefly, though she manages to resist its siren call once more. "Who is watching my darling Luna while you're here," she demands playfully instead as they make their way to the bar.

Her expression undeniably fond in its own right at Zev Harcourt's dismissal of her lateness, she gives a faint not of acknowledgement; the gilded cabochons adorning her updo-styled hair, catch the light with the motion, scattering golden rays across Zev's masked countenance.

Nenet then hums softly, her mouth quirking up impishly in its own right as she leans forward and whispers lowly in Zev's ear, "Aren't these things all about having too much to drink and being seen? You look quite dashing, by the by."

She steps flawlessly with her dance partner as they make their way around the floor, her movements mirroring Zev's every step; it's times like this she comes alive, the buzz of energy bouncing around the room feeding a desire to see and be seen.

The song is over much too soon, but thankfully another starts. "One more dance, and then let's find some drinks," Nenet suggests, the pads of her fingertips gently caressing the back of Zev's held hand as she speaks, still poised from the previous dance.

Nenet is routinely fifteen minutes late with coffee, as the joke goes, though this time she lacks the coffee. Her golden eyes trained intently on the phone in her hands, she furiously texts her student workers currently manning the telescope - her jaw set with stress, she swears softly at the latest reply. Frowning deeply, she stands in the doorway a moment before exhaling, a few more punctuated texts fired off before she places her phone on silent and tucks it into the gilded clutch attached to her wrist.

Inhaling a deep breath, her expression behind the radiant half-mask of a sun eases and a certain poise overcomes her stature. She's dressed in a brilliant gown enrobed with a gauzy wrap around her shoulders, the creamy silk of the dress accentuated with aureate crystals that catch the light.

Nenet lifts a champagne glass from a passing waiter and allows her gaze to sweep the room, and she easily finds what she's looking for. Zev dancing with some woman; good, he won't have been too bored without her.

Downing the rest of her drink at once, she drops the empty glass onto a passing waiter's tray and sees herself to the couple. It's with a graceful, elegant side-step that she cuts into the dance, a playful wink offered Elisabeth Fiorelli as she takes the blonde woman's place. "I'll take over from here," she drawls confidently before allowing herself to be swept away with the music and Zev.

Her expression turning somewhat apologetically to Zev Harcourt, she continues, "I'm sorry I'm late, work is insane as ever."

The clutch at her wrist vibrates, and Nenet pauses, appearing deeply torn despite the mask covering her expression. Pressing her eyes closed a moment, she valiantly attempts to ignore the text and says instead, "Have you been having fun without me?"

"There's a first time for everything," Nenet drawls slyly, her mouth hitched into half a smile. She holds her hand up for a bare second - indicating Zev to be silent - and then after a few moments has a number written out on her pages. With that accomplished, she closes the book and leans back to tip her head up towards the stars in thought.

"Somewhat," she muses. "My sisters enjoy their antics, but I'm not certain they are batty." Her lips pursed, she offers, "Mother may be, somewhat." She then casts her gaze towards Zev, a wink playfully offered to him.

"I have work to finish, now." With that spoken she flicks off her headlamp and leans forward to gaze into the telescope. Her voice soft, not uncertain but distracted, she murmurs, "You may stay to keep me company if you'd like."

Her head tilts faintly in thought at Zev's following question, her golden gaze lifting skywards for a bare moment as if she could see the cluster with her naked eyes before she answers.

"It's hard to say. They're unpredictable and I've only been monitoring them for a week and a half or so. I'm not sure how much they've consumed."

There is a lull in the conversation, and as Zev considers his answer Nenet looks into the telescope. "Gengar," she repeats, her voice briefly distant as if saying the pokemon helped to keep it in her mind; she once more writes, a series of calculations this time, and when she has finished she muses, "My grandmother likes ghost pokemon."

With a snort, she tacks on, "She's batty." Teasingly, she then asks, "Are you batty too, Zev?"

"Most do," Nenet replies, her hands briefly squishing Luna's cheeks before subtly leaning nearer Zev when he joins her on the towel. With a glance to the now-hovering Minior, her voice lowers as murmurs fondly, "Lazy thing."

The Minior in question seems to round curiously on Zev; spinning almost violently in place, the Minior's core is fleetingly visible for the first time. Its nebula-black centre spangled with motes of yellow, cerulean, and green bursting into sight, the display of colour is gone as soon as it came.

A single eyebrow arching, Nenet muses, "I think it likes you."
[break][break]
She then offers Zev a playful wink when the frisbee is displayed. "I am pretty good company," she muses, her weight shifting to rest back on her hands; tipping her head up towards the sun above, Nenet breathes in deeply of the salty air rolling off the ocean. Idly scratching at Luna's ruff around her neck, she then ducks her head to whisper conspiratorially to the wolf, "Why don't you go play with Keket for a bit while I bother Zev, hm? Maybe I wrangle you for a sleepover."

In response to the suggestion, Keket hovers lower to the ground, circling around the Lycanroc in an apparent effort to draw out the wolf to traipsing down the beach again. Her golden eyes bright with affection towards the pair, she glances askance to Zev before admitting, "I can't make Friday. We have new data coming in."

The first of many cancelled dates to come, she's sure. It was fun while it lasted at least.

Nenet does not glance to the caress pressed to her shoulder, her eye contact remaining on Zev's face, though she does lean into the touch subtly. Her hand moves, slipping up her forearm to lightly caress the knuckles of Zev's hand as she observes him, her touch feather-light and scalding like a brand.

She laughs once more, amusement dripping off every word when she asks, "Is that what you think I do?" Nenet does not wait for him to answer, her head ducking beside his to whisper hotly in his ear, "You had better."

"You have half an hour," the woman informs him, her lips softly brushing against his earlobe as she speaks. "And that includes the shower I'll need to take."

With that spoken she leans back, her eyebrow arching in challenge.

A laugh bubbles up from Nenet's throat at Zev's reaction, the woman notably not warning him away from the impending sharp flavour magnified by the marshmallows sweetness. She hums delightedly in response to this observation, a pointedly large spoonful of the dessert scooped up and settled into her mouth.

As the fireworks show starts in earnest, she leans back comfortably against the bench, her shoulders brushing against Zev's arm. Blues, reds, and blinding white shimmers across the sky in equal measure; the display pops and crackles, forming shapes of pokemon in between brilliant bursts of light.
