Eh... he was out of the hospital. He just couldn't use his arm, was all. Walking with a sling, the black-haired Rocket came out of courtesy to Mt. Chimney, where a friend had been. A pre-Rocket friend. Shalin was likely waiting for him, and he didn't have to heart to just hurt the girl.

There was some key differences. Aside from the broken arm in a sling, his hair is black too. He looks different, and despite this, he is here with just one Pokemon with him. His Glaceon, Maple.

When he sees Shalin finally who loos to be scouring the area, he holds a hand up. "Hey. Been awhile."

He looks like shit, but at least she's not going to focus on it too much. He's dressed for the occasion of the heat, pulling out some of his summer gear to not overheat. That's what Maple is for too. "Doing well?"

Hey Kep. I'm at the hospital.

No. That's far too forward, how can he message that? That would worry his boyfriend to death. He sighs, groaning. If he could grab at his face, he would by now. He looks at Pulse, and just says. "Delete it. Let's try again."

Hey babe. The mission wasn't easy. Things got bad fast.

He groans again. Ashley can't just say that. If there's no details, Kep will be even more worried. He scowls, as he shakes his head towards Pulse.

Hey baby. I'm at the Sootopolis hospital. Things didn't go so well, and they're checking up on me and Isaac. Come swing by if you have a moment.

He thinks about this message, eyeing Pulse, the Rotom raising a brow. With intent to help his trainer, the Rotom does something. He adds three words. Three little words. Ashley nods, he doesn't see them at first.

Hey baby. I'm at the Sootopolis hospital. Things didn't go so well, and they're checking up on me and Isaac. Come swing by if you have a moment. I love you.

Ashley quickly panics. "UNSEND. UNSEND. PULSE, DELETE IT, UNSEN-"

Message sent.

"Oh. Fuck." Was... was everything spinning? Pulse was just trying to help. They couldn't help it, they knew online that when people wanted to make others feel better, they said that to them. It even sounded like a text Ashley would send, that was the worst part. Pulse looks incredibly saddened. They just failed their trainer now... they droop down lower.

"It's not your fault, Pulse." He just hoped Kepler was... he hoped it wasn't too soon. Especially over a text like that. He felt it, so it should be fine, right? His cheeks were red. Dammit.

He smiles to the Rotom. "You just stole my thunder. That's all, buddy."

Oh... this was not great. Not only did Ash and Isaac fall unconscious, but with Casa Cena silent, the patrons nervous, and the stupid ass asking if they were gonna pay, Bongo responds in the only option laid before him. Sure, Knuckles pays, but that was just a dick move. The Rillaboom makes a real-big-boom on the counter, a fist diving into it with a dent. The brave man stared on, shriveling up at the sheer sight of the counter bending.

Ask stupid questions? Get stupid answers.

Now fireman-carrying Ashley, the dynamic duo could... find... oh god, where was it? The gorilla eyes the jackal, and for a moment, their serious level of banter amounts to attempting to piece together what a hospital was. If only Watson were here, he'd know! Watson was smart like that, clearly! They had nothing to go on! But...

Wait a second. He was thinking. He had thoughts!

That one time Ashley has his arm dug into by the sharky pirahna! There was a sign, a sign for... e... emer... emergen.... emergenny! He relays this to Knuckles, a hand over his eyes as he looks out, scanning the area. As soon as he finds the closest thing to it, he throws a hand forward. There! That's what it was! Red sign, white text! His facial expression that of a pog, as he begins racing like the wind. Emergenny can fix them! Those people had like chairs with wheels, and beds with wheels! The people who worked there might have heels too (though he merely remembered the one doctor wearing heelies).

No matter! As he gorilla rushes his way towards the hospital entrance, he has to find Emergenny! They can fix Ash and Isaac! They have the technology!

He's been here for awhile. Sunny and Chad are simply sledding down a small hill over and over, as Maple watched on. The two find some level of companionship. Ashley is just trying to quietly enjoy some time alone. This might be a favorite of his now. Ice. Snow. Nothing but an endless expanse in the field.

With his right arm quietly in its sling, he sits and tries to allow the Scorbunny and Mankey to enjoy themselves. Bongo would definitely keep tabs on everything at home.

He'd have to take Kep here one day. The winter wonderland it is, despite the coffins of ice, has this tranquil calming effect on him. He could fall asleep here.

Maybe he'd find some Pokemon. Or someone to talk to. But it's so quiet, he doesn't mind that stillness though.

So serene.

Hard to believe tomorrow, Ashley was going to be twenty-five years old. He quietly resigns himself to be in his mid-twenties, feeling he's lost a bit of that youth, but steels himself, as he looks over the tundra. The silent snowscape is quiet. The Pokemon are quieter.

Like coffins of ice.

It's snowing today. Really, he wanted to stay home in Slateport today, but he needed to see it for himself. Dressed as appropriately as he could with a broken right arm in a sling, he has only three Pokemon with him at present; Sunny, who is in a little red vest for warmth, his shiny green Mankey named Chad with a little pink scarf he bought at the flea market, and his Glaceon Maple who is quietly enjoying the snow next to him. All three out, and enjoying the snow.

This wasn't a holiday though. He closes his eyes. Damn... all he can think about is Mt Pyre. It's all that's on his mind now. He just... stands there, quietly contemplating this place.

It's beautiful. Quiet. "Serenity."

Thing was, it wasn't that what Kepler said that really dug into Ashley. It was that even though Kep says it like that, Ash finds himself knowing that he's right. Regret washes over him like a crashing wave. His hatred for Theo overrode his common sense, and now he stands in the kitchen, watching the timer.

...

He did kind of like that Kep said how it was though. Ashley wanted to protect himself fromt he thought, staying in the League a moment longer, but that bandaid being ripped off was kind of important.

When Isaac had come with, he finally comes to. It was clear something was bothering him, but Ashley decides it still was best holding his cards to his chest. Isaac was going to be mad. Hell, he'd be frustrated, he was sure. But now wasn't the time. "Hey, Carvanha aren't fighting at least. Already beats Pacifilog." A quick laugh, completely hollow.

That wasn't gonna buy him time, was it?

Time for a game of half-truths. "Heh. Sorry. You and Kep aren't wrong. I just needed a moment to think on it, I'm all good now." He's laughing a little more, rubbing the back of his head. Silver hair covering a sorrowful expression just a moment, gone in a flash.

"Here. Bought these recently from a flea market." He opens his fridge. A pack of strawberries sitting in a case, as he closes it. They weren't just strawberries though. Chocolate-coated strawberries! As he hands it to Isaac, he gestures. "Come on. I can't leave cute guys waiting. I promised snacks."

Shit. He said that in front of Isaac, in earshot of Kep.

Mostly everyone is present.

He still takes the hankerchief, going as far as to thanking Aki immediately. "Thanks." He almost blows his nose out then, but finds the strength to keep himself from doing so. At least he had it for later?

There's something about seeing the giggling girl tickled by a mere Roselia that puts a smile on his face, leaving Ashley to watch, up until Aki gives her fact on Roselia. It's trivia, but it's cute nonetheless.

"That right? Huh." That seemed like a lot. He hadn't the foggiest idea. Probably because Roselia were always far from his mind, though never too far.

"You like grass types, huh? Florist? Or are you more a gardener?" It was an honest question. After all, gardening was one of the avenues he considered when he came to Hoenn. The idea of tending to one sounded nice. Maybe that was for old man Ashley Sawyer.

Another Thwackey in the distance, and Ashley shudders. Nope. Not another Bongo and Conga. He turns his attention back on Aki. Not every day you find someone with the energy and disposition of the sunniest of days.

Maybe it would have been a better idea to go to the hospital, or the clinic first? But the thought of hospital food was just awful. So, with their shared singular brain cell, the two had decided perhaps the dumbest choice imaginable; food before first aid.

Paldean food was obviously worth it by sheer comparison, right? Their stomachs both had to be hungry, and as they began their walker-esque stroll (read limp), Ashley felt the telltale signs of adrenaline leaving his veins. His arm felt like hell, his ear felt like shit, and his sluggish body's forward march felt stilted at best.

Even after pulling the mask off, and throwing away the hat, he just looked like a zombie.

By the time they entered the establishment, Ashley's body was so rundown, that the adrenaline had all but left him. Did he twist one of his ankles? No. He just was like this now. The surging pain in his arm was so burning hot, he could only imagine what Isaac was going through. At least they weren't third degree... shit, did he have a fever? That's... that's not good.

Everyone looks at them funny. Ashley's silver eyes find it hard to look their way. He is next to the counter with Isaac, as Isaac makes the order. He wasn't doing too good. Soon as he falls over though, Ashley's response is a flurry of slurred-together words. "Ilikeabigfoolonsanwih. ohwaionese-" (translation: "I'd like a big food long sandwich. Oh wait, one sec-")

I need... to text Kep... where's... my pho-

Bongo does his best to keep Ashley from hitting a table on his descent, but Ashley into his arm, out cold. The Rillaboom eyeing Knuckles in return. What do they do?

Everything will be okay.

Rocks and hard places aside, Ashley watches on as Echo shrieked and ran, with Sanford backing up too. His first priority is Bongo. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck, how does he get Bongo out of this alive? He swallows. Think, think, think. The monkey is sitting on death's door, does he even have an avenue of-

Isaac pulls through instead. As the kids watch on, Echo throwing tag after tag onto the Butcher's face, and with it, the Butcher was barraged by the cleanse tags, as they approached Isaac and the kids. While the Butcher didn't initially seem phased, it was when Ashley had hopped over the bed, with Chad and the Sableye wailing on the Zoroark with a CLOSE COMBAT and a FOUL PLAY to give Kurze cover, that he grabbed Bongo up.

It was time to go ape. Grabbing Bongo into his arms, he thinks a moment. "You okay, buddy?" Bleeding from the head, Bongo nods. He asks another question. "Do you trust me?" He's met with another nod.

"Let's hope this works. BONSAI!" If a Cleanse Tag can stop a ghost from exiting a cage and phasing, than in theory, as he throws Bongo at the Butcher-

With a heavy WOOD HAMMER slam into the shadow, made clean thanks to Sanford's slowing Anchor Shot, Isaac, Ashley, their Pokemon, and the kids could hear a disturbing crack of the neck, as if a neck was being broken and everyone could hear it. The Butcher's head was twisted backwards, and though it had been spectral, the cleanse tags had done their job. Making an incoporeal being coporeal. The Butcher is slammed into the chest, mangled. Giving them an exit.

And an exit, they most certainly had. "We gotta go!" Ashley calls out. The Zoroark seems to grab at her head now, as if the blow had struck a chord in her head. Her eyes look pleadingly towards the kids.

One of them calls out. "Melly?"

On the other hand. Kurze had the pendant in hand now. A little locket. A picture of a happy couple. And a Hisuian Zorua, together. If Ash had seen it, that couple was Elvira and Tucker Truesdale, and both kids. Oh the webs we weave. Unless...

Was it just a symptom?

The game is coming to an end.

As Bongo free falls, as Corviknight charges downwards, a swooping Drill Peck that would be devastating. The bird is taunted, but it only does more to worry Ashley, as it does the monkey.

With no other option, Ashley points. If there's no other way but down, with a vortex in the way, with one hand pointed out, a bit of the crazy energy comes out. If he couldn't hit the bird before, with how fast the bird swoops down, he would now. "Spin!" And Bongo does that, beginning to flip in the air, in order to catch speed, both drumsticks at the ready to WOOD HAMMER the Corviknight into the tides. Bongo was going in too, but Bongo wasn't worried. With Dhelmise gone for the moment, it meant punishment on the steely bird.

At this rate, it's the last play Ashley can think of, with the Dhelmise disappears. He has no other options on hand.

Silver eyes wild with victory, he watches as Bongo attempts to slam down everything. Between Shithead Winter's shadowy hold helps to ensare the Palkia, the hooves remain here, and as he throws his non-broken arm up, he can't help but fall over and hit the ground with a thud. Bongo twists around to help him to his feet, but Ashley's merely watching the events as an observer.

When Palkia leaves, for a moment, Ashley thinks he sees an old associate. Was that Mars? He looked like he had a new friend. That was neat, at least.

Father Winter was gone though.

Ash looked on, feeling uneasy with no body in sight. Letting sleeping Yampers lie though, there's few things left to do here. He decides not to pursue. Best to remove himself from the situation ASAP.

When Isaac returns next to him, he smiles weakly, knowing he needed his last talk to Isaac. Space is allowed. Ashley and Bongo's eyes are to the skies above. The spirits moving on in that golden sheen. He can see all of them, moving together. Led by the surfing Raichu on her own tail, the moon, the bird, the salamander. All of them are passing on now.

Resolution is weird. It's messy, and it doesn't tie up neatly with a bow like a lot of media would have one believe. He still took his best friend's eye. He still lost Bullet due to a lack of planning. He still let Pluto die to try and even the playing field, desperately trying to press any advantage they could muster. He still let Sushi die. He took Jubilee's life by his own hand. Yet here Ashley is, alive.

That's atonement in some way. Isn't it?

It's nice to see them all one last time. For all the pain, the strife, every little inch of suffering, he feels it all slowly leave his body. They were smiling. They were happy. Is that enough? He can't help but give a hidden wide grin under his mask, his eyes pouring tear after tear now. They could all rest now.

He wipes them away now. Isaac has had his time to see Kiryu off. As she fades away in an embrace, Ashley watches on. When he calls over to him, he nods.

"Yeah. Let's go. I'm tired of this place."

Who was he kidding? He's tired in general. He's gonna need painkillers for this damn arm now, likely anti-biotics for his ear. He groans at the thought of it. Probably bedridden too, he hates being bedridden.

...

He looks to Isaac's eye again. Yeah. He's gonna have to find some way to make it up to Isaac. Luckily, he's already thinking about how.

The kissing onslaught was something else. For a moment, Ashley is taken aback when his cheek is snatched, then his jaw, and then his neck. When Kepler gets up, Ashley's head leans up to meet the liplock, every bit of mouth and tongue taken like a territory at war.

Ashley's cheeks heat up with Kep's words. Sheesh, now he was the one on the backfoot.

Grabbing Kepler's cheeks with both hands, he pulls him closer.

"Good."

Something about that needy gasp, the rush of that breathy line has Ashley's spine chilled. A second wind? He thought he had nothing left in the tank, yet here he is now with energy to spare. With Kep atop of him, he slowly begins moving again from below, a cheeky grin on his warm lips.

"Anywhere with you then."

His heartbeat was all over the place. If he could be diagnosed with arrhythmia, he probably had it now. But with the little laugh, Ashley looks to the ceiling, holding Kepler. If he doesn't, Kep could fly away. Holding him meant it was stable.

The declaration of becoming an admin was still important, but Kep said he didn't have to.

"I know." His heartbeat races faster. "I want to. For you." He did. He knew danger would come at them at every turn, but he didn't care. He'd survived Kanto Rocket, he'd survived Jayden trying to kill him. He was going to survive whatever mission they had for the meteor. He had a goal in his mind, and Ashley knew so long as he had that, he would be fine.

It's in Kep's response. Ashley was his, that his silver eyes peer from his black hair. Kepler was warmth to him. He could feel it like a hug right to the heart.

"Then it's settled. You're moving in with me."

It's that simple to Ashley. Sure, he's making the choice fast, but he needed to leave anyways. He pulls Kep's head, and tries to kiss him again. "I'll start looking around for deals... anywhere you want to be?" His heart is beating faster. The kiss was making his heart rate quicken, his eyes lovingly on him.
