A sigh left his lips as he strode over to retrieve the newly captured Shieldon, eying the Safari Ball containing it within his grasp for a few moments before lowering a hand to begin tracing the notches and hook of his belt. As usual, the majority of said hooks were occupied with his common party, but as soon as he noted a free one, he gently tossed the capsule from one hand to the other in favor of securing it with the rest. He peered down to ensure its place before looking back up.[break][break]

His gaze, initially meant to focus upon his own, roaming Pokemon, instead found itself drifting towards a pelt of gold and black.[break][break]

It took him a moment to realize it in its entirety, but a sense of surprise and curiosity clicked in the back of his mind as he fully noted the presence of a Riolu— and a rare one, at that. There were many a time where he glimpsed one, whether in the wild or alongside their trainer, so the stars only aligned naturally when he looked at its abnormal coat.[break][break]

He eyed it for a small while, even more surprised when it caught wind of him and began to walk over, albeit with initial wariness. Watching it approach with a curiosity, he pondered his options before slowly beginning to crouch down with partial intent to shrink himself down (because, really, any tiny thing would probably balk at his normal height) before holding his hand out.[break][break]

It paused for a moment before continuing its track over, and after some debating, reached out to place its paw against the heel of his palm. Although small and stifled, he couldn't help but snicker and smile a bit. Furrowing his brows, he tilted his head slightly before patting its head and carefully tapping his last Safari Ball against it.[break][break]

Thankfully, he didn't have to wonder about any other oddities by the time he found his Pokemon again.[break][break]

'Oddities,' being by his own standards, at least. Again, creatures were creatures, and he would've been dumber than dumb to be caught off by any and all possibilities of new little beasts that emerged from whatever region they hailed from. After all, two of his most trusted Pokemon were a living pair of sword and shield, and...what was basically a living statue.[break][break]

So really, who was he to judge?[break][break]

Who was he to judge when they were right there—right in front of him—supervising the little ones as they frolicked through the grass? Definitely not him. Absolutely not. Not as they were having the time of their lives, by the look of it, and not when the occasion gave him a rare sense of break and relief.[break][break]

So, he continued to take in the sights while watching the little ones. Found it endearing.[break]
Even found an opportunity to lob another Safari Ball at a passing Shieldon once it stumbled from the grass.[break][break]

A nut passed him as he walked along.[break][break]

A living and breathing one, namely. While he hadn't been oblivious nor ignorant enough to be unaware of what it was, nor the extent of odd creatures that shared the world with humanity, he still found himself at a crossroads with some specimen.[break][break]

Seedot just happened to be one such example.[break][break]

Just as it was known to do, it stumbled around on its small, stubby feet; a rather odd and otherwise uncanny sight if it hadn't been for the fact that odder sights were the norm. His eyes narrowed absentmindedly as he cast a sidelong glance towards it, but otherwise, he ultimately trailed his gaze forward once more on his way to rejoin his own Pokemon.[break][break]

Before he could travel far, he barely glanced down in time to avoid another little...thing.[break][break]

A familiar sight, but one that was still a bit off putting, nevertheless. The familiar rustling and waddling of a mimicked creature met both ear and eye as his steps came to a halt, all while his gaze found itself trailing after a Mimikyu that, frankly, he'd almost ran over. His brows furrowed slightly as he watched it for a few moments.[break][break]

He debated for a few more moments before ultimately tossing another Safari Ball its way and continuing along.[break][break]

An idle thought stashed away for what he could only assume to be a much, much later time, if at all, to begin with. With a soft, absentminded smile tugging closer to one corner of his lip than the other, he eyed the woman with a thoughtful and otherwise uncharacteristic patience and curiosity as she spoke her parts. Nodding along once or twice throughout her shares, he only shifted his gaze away as a movement caught his periphery.[break][break]

The bartender, with nothing but his drink in hand.[break]
He reached over the counter, giving him a brief nod in thanks and passing before looking towards the azure-haired singer once more.[break][break]

”So yer song goes back fer a while, then…” he murmured thoughtfully, his brows furrowing in thought and inner recollection as his fingers found the glass delivered to him. He pulled it over without offering it much of a glance, instead lifting it to his lips for a sip. ”Eh… I’m sure ye’ll get it down ‘ventually. Sounds real nice as is, fer what ‘s worth.”[break][break]

He lowered the glass against wood and varnish once more, his lips pursing the faintest bit at the next question offered to him. A sighing hum escaped him as he pondered his response with genuine wonder.[break][break]

”...Guess ye could say that?” the man eventually responded, albeit with an inflected tone that bore a sense of uncertainty. ”Uh… Hadn’t really thought on it? But I guess so, ye.”[break][break]

He fell quiet in thought once more before he narrowed his eyes, chuckling.[break][break]

”...Definitely more than I prolly woulda, in the past.”[break][break]

Much to his lacking surprise, the stone seemed to skip just several ripples away before being devoured amidst the waves in the distance. His gaze loomed upon the spot it ultimately stopped, his mind wandering briefly as it began its descent into the ocean depths.[break][break]

His eyes eventually traced the waves closer and closer back to his person, but before he glimpsed any of the land nearby, he found his attention locked onto an odd form against the shimmer and ripples of the tide.[break][break]

At first, he thought his eyes to be playing tricks upon him, but after a long enough time of staring and squinting, he realized that the object in his sight had been less scenery and more creature— and one that seemed to be struggling among the waves in its way back to the shoreline. His back straightened instinctively as he strained to get a better eye, but before long, he looked down at the Pokeballs atop his belt before releasing one of them.[break][break]

The sight of a familiar Golurk met his eye as it manifested, gargantuan and hulking. It stared down at him as if questioning him before he pointed towards the horizon.[break][break]

"Bring 'em over t'me."[break][break]

A command easily received as it was carried out. Just as it had done numerous times in the past, the titan disappeared from beside him, and he watched as it manifested above the waves once more before reaching down into the water. It disappeared and reappeared by him a second time, placing a sopping little pup down onto the rock beside him.[break][break]

Winded. Weak.[break]
Pitiful.[break][break]

His brows furrowed as he idled in thought for a moment, but with relative haste, he pulled a spare Pokeball out before tapping it against the dog's back.[break][break]

Poor 'lil bastard.[break][break]

With a passive eye, he watched as the Safari Ball rattled around in a familiar manner before ultimately falling dormant. He waited for a few more moments after, just to be safe, before lifting himself up and making a brief, calm stride over.[break][break]

Another moment's time to crouch down and retrieve it, his gaze scanning around him once more. He met eyes with a Nickit as it seemed to be passing along, but before he could pay it much mind, there was a small bout of movement from the distant bounds of periphery. His back straightened as he glimpsed past the fox, allowing it ample time to scamper away as he noted his own Pokemon beginning to trek further into one of the zones.[break][break]

He settled his new catch onto a free dock on his belt before walking after them.[break][break]

With little need nor desire to stifle himself for the sake of courtesy and anything similar, the first words she’d given him in response seemed to prompt a heavy, however silent, inhale.[break][break]

Not quite heard, yet still obvious all the same as his shoulder rose and fell within a lulled, almost exasperatedly heavy manner. His breath ran warm against the interior of his mask before filtering through the grates as a watchful, glaring eye remained upon her all the while. Although she seemed moderately animated throughout the beginning of their conversation, shifting between board and desk (and other things that he frankly hadn’t quite cared about after glimpsing them), a contrast seemed to tear between them as he merely remained leaned against the chair he was given.[break][break]

Corpse disposer. Surgeon.[break]
Uninterested. Irrelevant.[break][break]

His fingers tapped with a sort of idleness against the plastic frame of the seat, though seemed to sound ever so faintly louder with each occupational offering as if dissatisfied. Another breath entered his chest, just as heavy and ailed as the prior one, as his arms shifted over one another; one resting against the top of the rest as the remaining leaned its elbow atop its partner, leaving the man to rest the jaw of his mask against the heel of his palm.[break][break]

Then came the savior of the conversation; a single, welcomed word:[break]
Pharmacist.[break][break]

While hard to glimpse beneath the shade of his hat, a hardness entered his gaze as the rest of her summaries and offerings had all been met by a barrier of entry, with none other than a newfound prospect passing through the filters. He shook his head as she went on in countenance.[break][break]

”What kinda things are we talkin’, drug-wise?” he asked flatly, obvious and eager to dismiss the rest for the moment. ”And supply? Directly from your source of employment, or through other connections of yours?”

A chuckle through the communication line, coupled with a brief and violent distortion as both man and monster were made manifest within one of the rooms of the hunted.[break][break]

”Well fuck, I’ll be makin’ sure t’give ye ‘n earful later, then,” he snickered under his breath, hushed yet amused all the same.[break][break]

Peering over his shoulder, gave a glimpse towards the Golurk accompanying him moment before it dispersed back into shadow. The flickers of shade left within its wake coiled softly around his form as he crouched down in silence, his form pressed lightly against the wall to his flank as he listened to the voices within the room beyond. A silent breath passed through his nose as he reached for the knob of the door some feet away, his gaze idling upon the dimmed floorboards beneath him as footfalls, tones, and anything of the sort became a focus for him.[break][break]

He’d only begun to open the door as a rise of voices began to erupt in confusion, his tongue clicking as a sense of alertness surged within him. The assumption of something gone awry— it was only natural to assume before the rise of it all immediately crashed back down, leaving the group before him at a loss as a few more words rang into his ear.[break][break]

Wryly and with a scoffing smile, he narrowed his eyes as he strode forward—his hands brandished with knuckles—as he before giving his fingers a roll and pivoting his body, sending a swiftly-closing fist careening into the head of an unsuspecting prey as he found himself at the mercy of the Amnesia.[break][break]

One collision behind the ear was enough to send him barreling down, and one silenced shot of a familiar gun soon after. Just as the first fell, he had already been en route to the next, carrying the momentum along as he lunged for them. Brass met chin in an uppercut, followed soon by steel against temple as he cracked the butt of his gun into the same person’s head.[break][break]

”Don’t go lettin’ me ‘ave all th’ fun, now…!” he barked, sending a quick glimpse towards the woman in the doorway. His attention shifted almost immediately towards one of the other men, however—the earliest to be roused again, by the look of it—and moved swiftly to evade the brunt of a hit.[break][break]

His had been the cost, however, as it was knocked free from his grasp and sent clattering towards a corner of the room.[break][break]

Flattery or otherwise, and for better or for worse, this newcomer seemed to quickly grab ahold of his attention.[break][break]

As if the intrusion was unwelcome, though. While Jason spoke his part, the Galar native made sure to keep an ear out for the words spoken to him, albeit all while his gaze seemed to trail after the Pangoro accompanying him as he finally seemed to make his rounds closer towards the cliffside. An idle glimmer of amber followed with the bear’s form as he seemed to drive his punches and strides closer and closer, though seemed the least bit concerned with his trainer and his conversation.[break][break]

They shared a glance before the man’s gaze drifted back towards Mt. Pyre, even if just for a moment.[break]
He hummed, idling on both sight and words, alike.[break][break]

”...Eh. I wouldn’t call it nostalgia, ‘n my end,” he mused with a low, thoughtful tone. His gaze faltered and fell from the mountain afar before he turned his eyes towards the other man once more, palming a spare Pokeball before tossing out towards another creature in passing—a Haunter, by the look of it—as his weight shifted heavier onto one of his heels. ”Ain’t rocket science t’guess where I’m from~. Wyndon ‘n particular ain’t exactly near th’ ocean ‘n shite.”[break][break]

He gave a nod across the space between them; a gesture of inquiry and curiosity, all the same.[break][break]

”And ye? Ya come from a coastal city, then, or…?”[break][break]

He watched as the ghastly form of a barnacled creature formed amidst the nearby waves.[break]
He eyed it with little interest before sighing.[break][break]

Instead, his gaze turned down towards the selfsame rock he'd settled himself upon, hues of amber scanning the surrounding cracks and crevices around him for any sort of pebbles or rubble large enough to palm. Before long, he found one adequately sized, rolling it between his fingers before peering out across the rolling waves once more.[break][break]

He gave the rock a couple of lighter tosses and catches before ultimately lobbing it across the water's surface and watching it skip for as long as it would.[break][break]
