They may have both been sober but, in a way, GIDEON GRAVES had never felt so drunk. [break][break]

Everything about ollie morales was intoxicating to him. Watching the sun set from the window at his back — to see the way the shadows hugged every curve of his bare body, how the verdant green of his eyes remained unwavering in the growing darkness — was more potent than any drink Gideon had ever had.[break][break]

"Really now?" Him, the bad influence? That coaxed a small laugh from the professor's lips, even as he savored the feeling of Ollie's thumb on his cheek.[break][break]

His friend's next sentiment made him pause, however. The laugh faded, to be replaced with a look of warm... appreciation? Adoration? Gideon couldn't exactly pinpoint the swirl of emotions in his chest, but he did know at least one thing for certain.[break][break]

"Well," He replied softly as he grabbed the hand at his cheek and pressed his lips to Ollie's palm, kissing him lightly. "Thank you for trusting me. It means a lot."[break][break]

A beat passed where GIDEON GRAVES met ollie morales' eye. He didn't let his thanks linger in the cabin air for long; after a moment, he'd slide his hand to the back of his friend's neck and pull him closer again, bringing them together in a deep, slower kiss. Less frantic, less needy, less primal.[break][break]

More intimate. More affectionate. More evocative of how Gideon felt in that moment, with Ollie in his arms.

GIDEON GRAVES' apartment was as he'd left it that morning: comfortably cluttered, with trappings of his interests in every corner. Books nearly spilled out from built-ins that lined one entire wall of the living area, papers — both academic and clerical — were stacked on corners of the dining room and coffee tables, trinkets and artifacts from his travels filled in the empty spaces. [break][break]

It was a familiar place for both men, now. Ever since the night ollie morales had stayed for a celebratory drink, he'd made it a regular event to come and spend time here. [break][break]

He fit into the cluttered comfort so well, as if he'd belonged there forever. [break][break]

"I already have our usual pulled up," Gideon assured with a faint smile. A few taps to his phone screen and their dinner was ordered. "It should be here soon." [break][break]

Sitting down beside his friend, the professor stretched an arm across the back of the couch and added softly, "How are you feeling?"[break][break]

It was another way to ask, Do you want to talk about it?

Shit. She's so out of it. Gideon thought to himself, cursing the circumstances they found themselves in. [break][break]

"I'm not leaving you in this state." The professor stated matter-of-factly, shouldering parker jones closer to support more of her body weight.[break][break]

It was late, a taxi would probably take forever to get to them, and there was no one GIDEON GRAVES could call for help. Officially, he shouldn't have been associating with her at all. What if someone found out about her connection to ROCKET — and tied them together?[break][break]

It was all so muddled and mirky. [break][break]

The only person Gideon could think of to contact had blocked him and probably changed her number. But maybe...[break][break]

"Do you have your phone on you? Can we call Naomi?"

GIDEON GRAVES's eyebrows shot up in an instant.[break][break]

"Why now? What's changed?" He asked — well, himself, mostly, but also the room at large. His amber-gold gaze rested expectantly on MEW, studying the small pink creature as if it would suddenly reveal its secrets to them.[break][break]

"Was it a perfect transformation? No defects? No abnormalities?" [break][break]

When Pokémon with similar powers like DITTO attempted transformations into Legendary Pokémon, it always ended in a failure of some sort and, up until now, MEW had refused to even attempt it. Some thought it could never be done — that the power of such creatures was too much to mimic.

The small group careened to the left, funneling into a more narrow, ice-coated passageway — still large enough for them to walk shoulder to shoulder, but forcing the trio to get a little closer than they had before.[break][break]

PENELOPE LIVY's questioning perked his attention her way, but Gideon refrained from answering, as she'd directed the somewhat cutting query to Caleb Harcourt.[break][break]

He could practically feel the heat roiling off her words.

It was like any other day at the National Museum of Natural History. GIDEON GRAVES was busy attending to his duties as museum director, cooped up in his office overseeing administrative work for longer than he would have liked. Hearing a knock at his door was, admittedly, a welcome reprieve from the tedium of paperwork.[break][break]

"Oh, Yuina," The professor remarked in pleasant surprise as he opened the door to see Yuina Higashi standing there.[break][break]

"Of course. Please, come in."[break][break]

He invited her across the threshold and into his office, gesturing for her to sit in the chair across from his desk — the very same one she'd sat in for her initial interview with him, in fact.[break][break]

"How can I help you?"

GIDEON GRAVES hadn't been back to Dewford Town in a long, long while. [break][break]

Not since ROCKET's attempted takeover of the rift within Granite Cave... after everything that had happened that day, he'd wanted to stay as far away from the place as possible. Forever, he told himself then.[break][break]

But time had past. What had it been? Almost a year and a half now? Scars remained, but Gideon didn't want them to dictate his life. It was why he'd (drunkenly) asked Eduardo Hisakawa for training help.[break][break]

That particular memory burned with a little embarrassment the morning after, when the professor had checked his phone to see the soldier's address on the screen. He barely knew the guy — what had possessed him to ask for such a thing?[break][break]

Well, it didn't really matter now. A work opportunity had sprung up soon after that brought him to Dewford... and the rest was history.[break][break]

He supposed it was time to give the place a second chance.[break][break]

Gideon typed a quick text to Eduardo Hisakawa, announcing his arrival. [break][break]

Standing outside Eddie's home with his KUBFU clinging to one leg, GIDEON GRAVES looked the part of an eager trainer ready to work. He'd worn his contacts today in lieu of glasses and sported a headband to keep his hair out of his face, along with an old t-shirt and athletic shorts.

It was like he'd been bewitched by Ollie's... everything. His lips, his skin, his eyes, his moans, his stilted breaths as each kiss became more insistent than the last. [break][break]

GIDEON GRAVES didn't do things like this. He didn't allow himself to give in to anything, to anyone. He never let his decorum fall — never lost control like he was now. And yet...[break][break]

Whose house was this that they'd barged into? Whose dining table was he desecrating as he roughly pushed ollie morales onto his back and pressed into him with a surrendering gasp of his own? It momentarily shocked him to realize he didn't care.[break][break]

All he could possibly focus on right now was the man beneath him and the look of pain and pleasure in his eyes. [break][break]

All he wanted in that moment was to savor their time together, in these small pockets they carved out where they could. [break][break]

All GIDEON GRAVES could do was surrender to his most base emotions — over and over, until twilight faded into darkness and the cabin eventually stilled.[break][break]

"...Fuck, Ollie. I think you're becoming a bad influence on me." Gideon panted from where he sat on the couch they'd eventually made it to, ollie morales straddled in his lap.

Shadows flared and rushed around the battlefield, momentarily obscuring sight and giving GIDEON GRAVES the opportunity he was looking for in order to escape.[break][break]

With as much speed as he could muster despite his nerves, the professor quickly released his AERODACTYL and hastily climbed onto her back, using her spinal protrusion as a bracing point as he urged her into the skies.[break][break]

Her wings beat with a powerful force that lifted them upward. As they made their retreat, Gideon was just barely able to return his GOLISOPOD to its capsule before disappearing over the tree line.

With Greyson Connors's assent, MEW hovered closer and gently touched its pink paw pad to the professor's open palm — it's way of showing its cooperation.[break][break]

In return, GIDEON GRAVES offered MEW a soft, encouraging smile.[break][break]

"There's nothing to be afraid of. You'll simply attempt to transform as you normally would."[break][break]

With that, he gestured to the first of several large, reinforced pens. Unlike the others, this one housed several of Gideon's own personal Pokémon: a DONPHAN, a VOLCARONA, and a shiny TYRANITAR.[break][break]

"Considering the quantity we need to collect today, I've opted to use buccal smears to acquire DNA samples," He explained to Greyson Connors while moving to retrieve the first swab.[break][break]

"Say 'aaaahhh'." The professor instructed, opening his own mouth wide to get the point across. MEW seemed quizzical at first — flexing its head from one side to the other — before complying with a muted squeak.[break][break]

"You shouldn't feel any pain. I just need to brush the inside of your cheek—" One, two, three seconds and it was over almost as quickly as he'd started.[break][break]

"Good, good. Not so bad, huh?" The swab was capped into a sterile container before Gideon grabbed the next. "Now we'll repeat the process for every Pokémon you transform into."[break][break]

It was easy enough for the three regular Pokémon in the first pen. Normal transformations, no problems with collecting samples.[break][break]

However, complications arose as soon as MEW attempted to transform into the GREAT TUSK in the neighboring pen...

Of course he didn't. There was no reasoning with ROCKETs.[break][break]

Well, most of them, anyway. But parker jones did come to mind. He'd been in a similar situation with her once, hadn't he? Yet somehow they'd mended things... well, to a tenuous degree. GIDEON GRAVES wasn't having as many nightmares of her manic, blood-stained face lately, at least. [break][break]

GOLISOPOD swayed with the confident movement of a seasoned fighter. It watched with its beady, compound eyes as the SAMUROTT recovered easily, its mandibles twitching in anticipation. When the other SHADOW Pokémon made its move, GOLISOPOD slammed its pincered fists into the dirt to summon a SHADOW RAVE.[break][break]

Dark energy sprung up as sharpened spikes, meant to disrupt the SAMUROTT's charge and even pierce its hide, if able.[break][break]

The professor watched uneasily from afar. Inwardly, GIDEON GRAVES steeled himself for a hasty exit whenever an opportunity arose, the hand in his pocket fidgeting with a certain Poké Ball.
