The laboratory at the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY is state-of-the-art. Hidden from the prying eyes of the public, it is also layered with security and compartmentalized to high heaven. Outside of certain unacknowledged special access programs, and perhaps even the TEAM ROCKET HQ in some areas of science, Remiel could not imagine finding a more suitable place to study the mysterious WHITE PLATE that dahlia goode had placed in their care for the time being.[break][break]

Given his history, and a bit of unresolved conflict with some AQUA members, it was both an honour and a privilege to be part of such an illustrious team considering everything at stake here.[BREAK][BREAK]

Eva Morales had been entrusted with this artifact equally to try and isolate an energy signature of some sort. Yuina Higashi and illeana reyes had been invited to assist given their relative expertise. And GIDEON GRAVES not only played host to this preliminary research but offered the fount of knowledge at his disposal and experience as well.[BREAK][BREAK]

Gathered together, the stark white of the sanitized laboratory setting contrasts sharply against the black and browns of Remiel's autumn weather outfit. He stands at the southern wall of the large and flawlessly lit chamber beside Yuina Higashi and GIDEON GRAVES as the HEAD SCIENTISTS get to work. A small coffee is cradled in his hand while the other finds warmth in his pocket.[BREAK][BREAK]

"It's unlike anything I've ever unearthed. But it certainly looks HISUIAN, doesn't it?" The archaeologist surmises, only pausing to take a sip of his hot beverage. "That's your area of expertise, Miss Higashi. What do you make of it?"[BREAK][BREAK]

She had no place here... Amongst the brightest minds and valued members of the highest echelon of the league. Against the stark white of the lab room tucked away deep into the museum, Yuina had no where to shrink away into the darkness, into the shadows she knew had been laid to bear. She wanted to be invisible more than anything in the world after the last following days, but there was nothing to grant her reprieve. She was being watched, by so many. She would never be invisible again.[break][break]
Her only solace was keeping her nose stuck in a book she held open in her arms, one of the many that she had worked on and translated, one of the few she brought with her in being summoned for her 'expertise'. She was of two minds, being brought in for something like this, for something that might very well be a part of what history she knew. The historian inside of her was elated at the prospect, just as she had been in finally uncovering the hidden and forgotten history of Celestica. But as someone who knew that she should have never been there in the first place, being lost to time as a mistake, she never asked for this 'expertise' to begin with...[break][break]
Remiel's voice beside her startled her, where things had been relatively quiet for a handful of moments. She blinked up from the pages of her book, but didn't look to meet his eye.[break]
"Perhaps...," she spoke first, quiet, contemplative, having taken her first initial looks at the strange artifact in question.[break][break]
"It certainly could be Hisuian, but it wouldn't surprise me if it might be... older than the Hisuian Era," she wondered, flipping through another couple of pages in the worn, old book she held.[break]
"The markings and makeup are reminiscent of some similar conceptualized pieces from Hisui, most noted in art, sculpting, pottery. But," taking a moment to flip to a particular page, faded drawings and etchings from another place entirely.[break]
"I believe there might be small hints of Johtonian influence as well..."[break][break]
"If we can determine anything from carbon dating, about how old the piece is... I could make more conjecture."

Remiel continues to observe the CELESTICA PLATE from afar as Yuina Higashi says her piece, though he parts his eyes from the artifact now and then to peek at her. The concerns brought up by certain AQUA members at the last meeting beckoned him to keep watch. Though, frankly, she didn't seem that concerning to the archaeologist. Perhaps someone had filled her in on what had happened.[BREAK][BREAK]

"That's precisely what I had in mind," The exiled royal says at the mention of carbon dating, turning to gently tilt his cup of coffee in the direction of Eva Morales and her partner. "Once our esteemed scientists have finished running their own tests, of course."[BREAK][BREAK]

Regarding GIDEON GRAVES next, however, Remiel continues. "What say you, director? Any thoughts on the text inscribed?"[BREAK][BREAK]

Before them laid yet another plate to manifest as of late. This one, however, seemed apart from the rest. Unique, foreign, and found under rather mysterious circumstances.[break][break]

It was a curious puzzle to be unraveled by some of the best minds in the region. Sweeping his gaze over those gathered, GIDEON GRAVES felt a sense of pride swell in his chest — especially toward Yuina Higashi, one of his own curators. [break][break]

Her thoughts on the plate's origins would be invaluable to their team.[break][break]

"Meaning aside," He'd let the more familiar historians pick apart the riddle-like text first. "The inscription itself seems almost disjointed in style."[break][break]

Though the professor wore nitrile gloves to handle the plate if necessary, he instead gestured to a digital screen connected to a large-scale video magnifier. The engraving was blown up to higher-rendered scale, so clear that each grain or chip or etched word in the stone were easy for all to see.[break][break]

"Here," A finger pointed to a spot on the screen. "These last two lines don't quite match the ones before them. Were they etched at a later date?"[break][break]

Cut by some sort of sharp tool? And by who? So many unanswered questions.

Yuina wasn’t the only one that struggled with imposter syndrome and feeling less than in a room crowded with the extraordinary. In a similar fashion, Eva hid behind her own work. What differentiates them was the source of that knowledge. The historian behind their books and concrete, tangible vessels of that knowledge. The doctor hid behind technology and millions of data points at once. The tablet in the arms blinked with graphs and data points gathered over the last few days as well as what the sensors currently picked up. The blues and yellows and reds flashed against the whites of her emerald eyes as they dashed back and forth, collecting the knowledge and sorting through it silently in her mind.

Regardless of her insecurities, she was quite ecstatic at the effort of collaboration. The more mind the better - that had always been Eva’s motto.

Her gaze glanced up when the group started speaking and speculating. She shifted it to the high resolution and magnified picture of the last two lines from the plate. They were indeed different - darker in color with sharper edges, like fresh a wound. The older inscription was worn by time and weather, smoother and lighter in color like a healed scar.

Eva’s eyes scanned over the carbon dating data for the hundredth time, casting it up to another screen with a swipe of her finger. A summary of the data points and conclusion was mapped out for all to see, “That was one of the first things we did. If the numbers are correct, it appears to be slightly older than the Hisuian era . . . well, when compared to the dates given by Yuina’s conclusions on the time frame of that particular era,” she took her attention off the tablet and shifted it to those around the room, particular illeana reyes who had more experience with chemistry and genetics than she did, “I wonder if the material of the actual plate itself could give us any further insight? Like the type of stone? Might be able to deduce where it was originally crafted and where it came from,” she crossed her legs and added quickly at the end, “Energy data is still . . . processing. It’s been difficult to get any sort of reading from the plate. I’m trying some . . . different techniques.”

a piece of the grand puzzle is laid out before them, concrete and solid beneath their gloved hands. it's not just a figment of the imagination. no, it's as real as its mythos.

as GIDEON GRAVES and Eva Morales work, she hovers by the computers, eyes quickly darting over readings as they come in.

"we could scrape some flakes off the sides to confirm its material composition."

anything more than flakes and she fears throwing its existence out of balance...

but it is not an ordinary plate. the feel of it seems different - otherworldly, bordering on religious.

she shifts from the computer, rounding one side of the table opposite Eva Morales to stare down at the inscriptions. true to GIDEON GRAVES's hypothesis, they seem less weathered by the elements - fresher wounds, somehow.

"the last two lines are likely far more recent than the creation of this plate, though that could mean those who came after carved the words in, or the drk triad did. it's difficult to know for certain in that regard."

the plate itself, however, strikes a particular chord. somewhere deep in spatial expanses, one half of creation stirs, almost in mild discomfort.

"what's interesting to me, though, is the design of the plate. those we're already familiar with are more like colored slabs of stone, but this one is intricately etched like it's meant to be in reverence."

gently, she hovers a hand close to its side, tracing the pattern lightly.

"it's reminiscent of the original one's sigil too, as if this could be considered the original plate. the others likely came after, but that theory begs the question of if they came into existence because of these two final lines."

the etchings mention the creator as well, but the symbol itself has not fully revealed itself - not entirely. they've seen it in brief glimpses, most notably from the locking of smeargles and their stolen moves of the gods or on the necks of type:null's to strangle their true potential into a man-made cage as a feeble attempt to manufacture holiness.
