Maybe Wander could beat down Volcarona, like a weed in a garden. She certainly had the rage inside of her, the power, the pure intensity alone. But the Lycanroc sat. She trusted in her Trainer, and Genny trusted in her in turn. She would not attempt to squish a bug.[break][break]

There is a little pity. It's unavoidable given the situation. He says it himself; he could taken out with relative ease. Confidence was key here. And he figured he wasn't cut from the right cloth.[break][break]

"Probably not." was the only answer to the question she could make, but when she slowly moved to unzip a part of her Ranger jacket, turning her back to the man and showing a rather hefty bruise on her back, extensively bandaged up. "Yesterday, I made the same mistake. Helped a few Rockets in need of medical treatment. This was how they thanked me." She tenses at the thought of the masked Rocket (marcus kotov) who bit the hand that fed. But as Genny moves to realign her jacket...[break][break]

She pauses a moment, hazel eyes looking away from the helmeted Rocket here. Vulnerability. Quiet.[break][break]

"You may be a Rocket just as I may be a Ranger. But we both breathe air, don't we?" She looks towards the roof of the cave, closing her eyes. She listens to the draft of the cave entrance. To the distant sounds of the shoreline, beating against the beach.[break][break]

Her expression hides within shadow, the sulking expression, ever hopeful. "You can prove me wrong if you want. I've commanded Wander to hold fast. She won't fight back."[break][break]

This was going to be Howard's only means to escape.[break][break]

If he did come to attack her though. She would be ready.

A lot happens at once. First, taking stock of everyone trapped, Genny attempted her damndest to keeping that hope, that spirit alive. But then, everything goes topsy-turvy. Genny watches enraged, when a tentacle comes over DESIREE BLOOMS's mouth, pulling at her own captor, and hazel eyes burning. She was losing strength... this wasn't how things were going to end. She wouldn't let it.[break][break]

Hearing Desi's words... in her not wanting to die... that's what has her pull harder than ever to rip away from these beasts. She was a Ranger. She wanted to be a head. She wasn't about to let someone go down. Fury pushes her forward.[break][break]

She would never let Desi die.[break][break]

Neither would Frosty.[break][break]

But unfortunately for them both, or fortunately, things began to explode. First came Izzy's Golisopod, helping to free her, as she tumbles down to her knees, coughing in a fit to get back some air. She had been holding it in, and peering hazel eyes up... to see Frosty WOOD HAMMER every coin he can from Genny's body, keeping her safe above all else. The Abomasnow is too slow, but he dares not move.[break][break]

By time the coins are done, Frosty has fallen unconscious standing, eyes glazed and body falling to a knee. Genny gives a quiet smile, moving closer to hug onto the Abomasnow. The yeti had done its job. Now, for some much needed rest... he earned it.[break][break]

Returning Frosty to the ball, Genny would release her Fennekin, Akane, attaching to her shoulder, as she looks towards Isaac, Eris, and now Desiree with a particularly giddy grin. "Desi!" She grins ear-to-ear now, moving closer to pull her into a hug, if consent given.[break][break]

Towards the redhead who spoke, Cadeyrn Osmond, Genny responds, agreeing with Desi's call. "I've had enough of swamp water myself. Akane here can burn away anything that causes issue." She pets the tiny fox, who mews out. It seemed Aurelie Lefevre has a similar idea. Oliver Shrakes and Tempest Quinn had the idea to take the first route to freeze the water behind them. If that were the case, they'd have more of a strategic side. They could afford less with more.[break][break]

And unfortunately, for her, Frosty was out of commission. Nothing to be done there.[break][break]

She's not about to lie and say she can protect everyone. The only reason they got out was the people who weren't livestock for the alien threat. If nothing else, she could catch everyone up to speed. "Our captors are likely Megalopolan, alien invader remnants from the Ultra Beast War. They fit the description from Ranger reports I've read, and it sounded like they just wanted to go home. They intended to use us as livestock on their trip, but thankfully all of you got here in time. I imagine they'll have more Nihilego, and..." It was knowledge. Nothing else, it would be her thanks for the save.[break][break]

Taking a breath, Genny's hand is on her chin. She ponders it aloud. "Stands to reason, maybe a spacecraft?"[break][break]

They did want to make a trip. Unless they intended to use Ultra Space, it made sense to believe they came on some kind of ship.

Ranger work was important. Melody hit a chord in Genny she didn't realize could be hit though. The mention of the Gym challenge, has her deeper in thought, and it's especially the mention of not only being complimented by Melody about being a good trainer, and Melody's excitement to battle her only multiplied that.[break][break]

And that kindness she shows... if Genny's cheeks weren't hurting enough from the massive smile she gave and the red on her cheeks, it only helped boost her ego.[break][break]

She had been working hard... maybe she could treat herself. Have a little fun. "I look forward to that day then... if you have genuine excitement, how can I possibly refuse?"[break][break]

Even if Ranger work was important. With a very loud sigh, she looks to her side. "Yeah, save for the paperwork part of it." But it only makes her quietly giggle, a short laugh over the fact she wouldn't have it any other way. Even if it's endless, and reports have to keep being made.[break][break]

"Where would you consider I start?" Now she was showing interest. Melody pulled out the giddy Trainer in Genevieve, the same Trainer who noticed the Yamper barking, and pitter-patter in place, as she moves over to scratch behind one of his ears, little Lucky buckling under the feeling of his favorite spot. He'd be on his side if it weren't for those wheels for his hindlegs.[break][break]

The same Trainer who gave all her attention to Melody, while both of her hands are busy giving tender love and care to the small dog.

It's a terrible, awful truth. One that Ebony sees play out in her mind. The Absol quiet, and stalking the prey; found to be a Brute Bonnet, as Genny gets the name Neon from the Rocket stranger. The Absol smiling quietly behind her.[break][break]

It's unlikely to be their real name. No matter what Genny asked now, what mattered was the gas at their feet. A part of her wished she were cutthroat enough to take him in.[break][break]

She can't be that person.[break][break]

As Neon makes the call, the Brute Bonnet entering with a RAGE POWDER, Genny quickly takes a step back, holding her hand out. "Ebony, jump back." The Absol does so at the order, flipping backwards and landing halfway against the wall, as Genny calls out. "Detect." Ebony's eyes glow, letting her move out of the way of the Rage Powder, her PRESSURE pushes down on the mushroom man.[break][break]

She couldn't afford all eyes on the mushroom. That led to her death. She had to be aware. She had to be aware at all times.[break][break]

Ebony refuses to falter here.

It's harrowing knowing that Genny can do nothing in the face of this. This isn't a fact over morality, it isn't by choice. Some people, like this Rocket here, are forced into a position that they don't want to be in. It stings, knowing that debt has cornered this person. And so many more like it.[break][break]

Wander deals with the blaze of the Fiery Dance with relative ease, roaring out with a snarl, as she takes a step forward. Preparing a STONE EDGE, when a voice breaks through it.[break][break]

"Wander. Down."[break][break]

The Lycanroc stops before contact, and turns her head to face Genny. The red berserk eyes tense, as she hunches down, and closes her eyes. Though Wander would, and could tear this bug to pieces... she will listen.[break][break]

Genny didn't want this.[break][break]

"I didn't see you. The exits that way." Sulky hazel eyes burn as she moves her head to point him the way out. She wants to be able to say that every Rocket is like those she fought on the beach. Desperately, she wants to defeat and take them in. She should want that, and be the top ranger.[break][break]

"... the League may not be able to fully keep you safe, but it's better than your alternatives." She wants to save him. No one deserves this hell. Epitaphs were better than forgotten, shallow graves.

"No need, Agent Graves. I'm on the case!" Genny was approached first, and he was instructed to meet her. Maybe Paxton sent him her way, and this was a chance to prove herself. And, it's not like she had anything going on tonight anyways! "I've been cooped up with paperwork all day, after having transferred from Slateport, and would love to help in the field. Been hearing about it all day too!"[break][break]

Hazel eyes alight with a fire, a need to show what she's made of now, and with being recommended, she felt pride that her own hard work had paid off. She had to impress him![break][break]

Moving to tie her hair up, she takes a step from Lilycove HQ, and leans against the railing. "You've probably already been working on this, but do you have ideas of where the perp might be? Or a general area where they might be operating from?" She's certain Agent Graves has been working hard on this case.[break][break]

Hearing the coworker dealing with the Mankey, there's a part of her that wants to help. But a barrel of Mankeys had a little less priority than a bunch of missing kids.

All of Genny's Pokemon had the same thought enter their mind at the same time, and it matched Genny pretty well. Wright would spin in the air, making quiet noises as she spins in place, with Orville and Serenity immediately coming over to the new Pokemon out on the field. Serenity attaches immediately to the other Sylveon, stepping in place, with Orville by little Aimi and the hammer.[break][break]

Momo was too cute. So precious. As Genny watches her move towards a tree with that Chikorita. With a cross of her arms, she leans against a tree, a Cradily hanging from the tree now. With her success, seeing her cheer has Genny respond, and when she is given the running hug, Genny pulls her close to her, the redhead laughing.[break][break]

"You're welcome, Momo!" She's red in the face, happy she could make Momo's day, and what makes it even better, is how Orville, Wright, and Serenity move to hugs around them as well.[break][break]

Genny is giggling herself, able to hold her ground and enjoy the closeness to another, before she lets go. For just a moment.[break][break]

"Okay! You ready to go?" She releases her last Pokemon, a big boof of an Arcanine, who gives the happiest bark, as Zagreus hits the scene. A Pokemon to ride back to town, and the big boof would lick on Momo's face.

The teacup throws them around. And at a point, Genny feels the throwing to and fro on this ride, but she's focused on the moment. Izzy. She's focused on the conversation. Yeah, she's having fun... but it's nice to just talk.[break][break]

She liked this part of their relationship. He always seemed so open. It hurt to see him messed up on the mental. Paperwork was only secondary to this, but she makes a joke herself. "Don't I know it. And moving to Lilycove comes with its own challenges too at the same time." She moves a hand through her hair, as the teacup spins more, the conversation behind them fading away. It was just them.[break][break]

Genny didn't know why, but she liked it. Being alone with him.[break][break]

When he opens up, hard-pressed to talk about himself, she listens. She doesn't interrupt. She merely stares on, lets him speak his part. Too many fires to put out? Huh... what fires were those? But on the mention of Caleb, she grabs towards her head. "Caleb..." Did she know a Caleb Harcourt? The name... it was so... familiar. She squints. It's on the tip of her tongue.[break][break]

She sighs.[break][break]

"I... think? It's not ringing any bells though." She feels like her head might pop, and a terrible sadness in herself. A moment of clarity doesn't come. The deja vu is all it was. "Friend of yours?" she asks, unable to piece it together, save for a shadow in the back of her mind.

If people were this nice in Hoenn, it only confirmed her desire to be here in Hoenn! With the order to spread the seeds over the area, Genny would see Bubbles already slapping her chest with the BELLY DRUM, preparing her power, as she hid away. On the other side, Wander and little Cherub made together a blend of LEECH SEED-ED STEALTH ROCK, allowing for a combo attack waiting in the wings.[break][break]

All of the Pokemon were in place. With Gigawatt hanging on her shoulder, Genny would see Swirl crown the Tropius, as she would pull herself up, and hoist herself atop the beast. Ruffling the Tropius' head just a bit more. "Let's ride! After this, let's go enjoy some cake!~" She calls out, holding a hand out for Desi to get on.[break][break]

And the moment they get to the sky, the distance between the Gyarados and the town has shrunk considerably. Time of arrival would be short.[break][break]

Wander sits at the edge of the docks of Pacifilog, eyeing the beast. The Lycanroc, a big werewolf of a beast, sits down next to Cherub, and closes her eyes. She's one of Genny's older partners, and she's been in wars, fights, and ruthless struggles. But she knows, to quiet and still her mind. Feral ferocity is her go-to in this form, but not her strong point. Patting Cherub, the wolf doesn't open her eyes. Bubbles waits from below, eyes set forward at the oncoming wave of pure rage-filled energy, about to collide when-[break][break]

The beast is just so close to town. The blue scales, the white wings, the fury in its eyes, pupils shrunk in berserk need to destroy all around. The storm of a RAIN DANCE brings with it the tyrant of the ocean, a jaw filled with razor sharp teeth to rip and tear.[break][break]

Genny would call out. "Desi! Now! Go Gigawatt." The little Pawmi hops off of Genny's shoulder, diving towards the ocean itself, and firing out a THUNDER WAVE, ensnaring the massive water snake in electrical energy, as he dives downwards. To slow down its movements, as Gigawatt safely dives into the water.[break][break]

Wander's eyes flash open and red, and she begins to HOWL, as Bubbles dives further into the depths.[break][break]

Time for containment.

With a moment to read the situation, Genny's hazel eyes go over the same being again and again. What was this thing? She remembers the files. It was the Ultra Beast War, right? It wasn't human, not at all. But why?[break][break]

"Why are... they-" And before she has another moment to speak, a man is hoisted by the swamp. And in a moment of clarity, hearing the horrifying splashing, she realizes where they must be. The horror dawns on her.[break][break]

"We need to-"[break][break]

She never even had the chance. The moment she's grabbed, she's already under. She attempts, desperately, to get out of the murky waves, attempting to grab at what grabbed her, to kick at it. Nothing is working. As her face goes blue from the lack of air...[break][break]

She's jettisoned out, and able to breathe again, eyes bloodshot, as she desperately grasps for air, only to feel a wave of nausea hit her, as she's bound with her Abomasnow bound as well, the yeti unable to move within these chains. Genny's feeling sick, but hearing the bloodcurdling scream of DESIREE BLOOMS, as well as that kid again Eris Halla, and an old face in Elise Calcifet. With being held captive, Genny attempts to restore some morale.[break][break]

As does the Ursaluna, who breaks in with a whole group. Some she can recognize.[break][break]

"Catch your breath, we can get out of this!" Genny is wiggling, attempting to pull free, Frosty trying to push through the chained tentacle monstrosities himself. She didn't care about how the swamp grime must be in her hair, or how she could still feel her lungs filling up with that dirty swamp water. She didn't care that it was the same beast that practically pulled her ex-boyfriend away, ruining his mind a little. The only instinct on was survival instinct. And getting everyone out safe of harm.[break][break]

Now as for how to get out of this.[break][break]

Tireless hours in the office. Sheesh. Enough reports to fill her desk. This was the part of Ranger work that never fulfilled her. Hard to put a smile on people's face in bureaucracy, most of the time they filed the smile away under HAPPY. But, they were all reports Genny was used to doing these days.[break][break]

She'd be preoccupied. Reported in was a missing persons case, and the whole office seemed to know. It was one. Two. Three. That number kept going up, and Genny listened with an increasing interest the more it popped up. Her reports wouldn't fall behind, but every time it came up, she knew she would be looking into it. She had to.[break][break]

Beats bureaucracy any day.[break][break]

As she makes her way out, now in her casuals, she would open the door, about to take a step out of HQ for the night when she stops abruptly. Her four foot eleven frame is focused solely on another person's chest, but her hazel eyes zoom upwards. Whoa. "That's me!" She smiles ear-to-ear.[break][break]

The badge and ID look official enough, and the Kecleon, named Kay, is at his side. From inside Genny's chest, peers out the tiny skull man, Guardian, the glowing Duskull eye looking at Gunner, then to Kay, as the little guy waves his shiny red sleeve at him.[break][break]

"The Hoenn Bureau of Intelligence and Counterterrorism... OH! You must be here about the missing children case, huh Agent Graves?" It's not a hard connection to make. But if she wasn't mistaken, this was the same bureau that paxton concordas and PENELOPE LIVY worked for.[break][break]

Even if she was off duty, this took precedence over relaxation. She was going to help Agent Graves find these kids. "Unlikely I'm a suspect, but considering where most cases originated... are you looking for some assistance?"[break][break]

Guardian zips back into Genny's chest, her forever spectral guardian, ready to protect at a moment's notice, the glint of red within and poking out quietly from below, like a little sash.

She's so cute, it's unfair. She has Genny blown out of the water, and it shows in her soft smile. She's the older, reliable sister... being an only child, it really was lonely. The amount of guys she hung out with in Alola was far too many.[break][break]

Little Wright makes a chime, spinning around Momo, and making her cry, as Genny places both hands on her hips. "Well, it was when I-" And she stops a moment. And remembers her date in Rustboro, with her ex-boyfriend.[break][break]

And she immediately shrivels up, her soft smile twitching.[break][break]

"-went to Rustboro with my, at the time, boyfriend. Caught Wright here as a little baby." She ruffles Wright's little head, a grin over her lips, as she pulls the Togetic in close. "One day, she'll grow into the Togekiss she wants to be." It was inevitable. One day, she would be all grown up.[break][break]

As she looks over her Pokeballs on hand, she had her own Sylveon, her Lycanroc, her Duskull, her Teddiursa, and her Pidgeot. She considers releasing all of them out for this occasion.[break][break]

Releasing her Teddiursa and her Sylveon, Orville and Serenity pop out with happy sounds themselves, the little teddy bear hopping up to the Togetic to try to fly, while Serenity walked over with all the flair of a regal queen. "Orville. Serenity. This is Momo. Momo, Orville and Serenity." All three Pokemon would chime happily to Momo in unison. A sense of unity and friendship between her Pokemon.
