This caustic alliance really did leave Genny entirely too off-center, but in the Rocket's singular warning to get out of her head, she sees that helmet grin, and she raises a brow. She doesn't like any of this, but the worst part of it is how he has a really, really good point.[break][break]

"That's Genny to you." Not Rookie, or any other name for that matter. While they may have this ceasefire, he would at least get that right. But she doesn't correct him on her status or ranking. In some regards, she still felt like one.[break][break]

The stomping begins, and she throws out her Absol, Ebony, who hits the scene. And with an immediate FUTURE SIGHT... submits, as she gives Genny the saddest, most bittersweet smile she can.[break][break]

Genny was going to die tonight.[break][break]

The Absol gets closer, moving towards Alpha and the Rocket, as Genny eyes on the Absol. Something wasn't right. Why did she feel so... off?[break][break]

She still couldn't let someone like this fight alone, what she imagines is a natural phenomenon. No matter if he's done it before or not, these beasts are tough. "Ebony. Eias." The Absol begins to multiply in a DOUBLE TEAM.[break][break]

The AERIAL ACE makes its mark, and as Genny is hit with a BUG BUZZ, she can feel her ears burning, as she grabs to her head. Pet Shop turns back, her own ears bleeding from the buzz, but not affected by the attack. Though she may be a new addition, she has a duty to keep Genny safe. As she flies and spins to get away, Genny grabs onto her head. She's banged up already.[break][break]

But with a shake of her head, she gets her bearings, hazel eyes frustrated and pointed forward at the attacker.[break][break]

"On the contrary-" Pet Shop instinctively dives downwards, nosediving to attempt and dodge the DRAGON PULSE, as she pulls back up almost like a rocket, and attempts to flank the Altaria she can see. Genny frowning at the Rocket before her.[break][break]

"-you're under arrest!" Shaky as she was, she holds up her Ranger badge, though had to see, it shines with a dull shine in the moonlight.[break][break]

This guy knows what he's doing. Her whole body is shaking. To protect her trainer, Pet Shop attempts to use WHIRLWIND, to blow the attacker away.[break][break]

Courage is so fickle thousands of feet above the ocean.

"No kidding." Genny scowls to the room. The over closing ceiling, the death trap that sits before them. A murderous skewer, ready to stab and slice at a moment's notice. What was in the grotto so protected? It was beyond her comprehension.[break][break]

As Genny watches Lam take out a metal bird all his own, she nods. Thankfully, as her Frosmoth happily froze the place best they could for resistance, it's Artichoke's BRAVE BIRD that gives them the opportunity to get out of this. With a grab of Vanilla Ice, and the flying Oz behind her, she feels her hand snatched up as they race to the exit. The besties popping out the other side.[break][break]

As the ceiling attempts to push further and further in, to kill whatever remains into blood-soaked dust. If anything remained at all.[break][break]

Genny looks to everyone. "Everyone okay?" She calls out, a role call. Oz chirps! Vanilla Ice makes buzzes!

Don't hurt him? Wiping at her eyes, she didn't have the best view of the guy before her. But its in that fiery flash of light, that Genevieve understood. And it pained her.[break][break]

"You too, huh?"[break][break]

This was war. This was battle. This was survival, but Genny was so tired of it already. If this were a villain like the ones she fought on the beach, or the one she fought in the grotto, she'd handle it no problem. It's this one, that sits in front of her, that paints a saddening picture.[break][break]

He didn't seem bad. This conflict was starting to break her down. Hazel was gone... would this guy take another of her own?[break][break]

Returning Guardian , she wordlessly throws out the midnight Lycanroc, red eyes peering back at red eyes, with a bloody roar. Genny swallowed her shame, swallowed her sadness, and closes her eyes with one inhale.[break][break]

She exhales. And it's go-time.[break][break]

"You are under arrest." Her hazel eyes narrow. She may look tiny, but she was a powerhouse in her own right. She knew that cleanly. "Wander. Fend off the Pokemon." The wolf nods, a silent march forward.[break][break]

Genny stares down towards the Rocket.[break][break]

"... why did you join Rocket?" Some discourse? Maybe it was a hopeful gambit. Maybe he'd be willing to talk. He seemed reasonable.

Genny sees him in double vision. She hit the cave wall too hard, and it costs her. She was too nice. Too naive. Her wanting to help only shoots her in the foot, and as she tries to grab onto the wall for support, her knees buckle.[break][break]

She collapses. Faded.[break][break]

The roaring Espeon does put fear in Zagreus, the Arcanine taking a step back. He's sure he can take the cat, but... not at the cost of his person. With a whimper, he turns on a dime, and with a powerful throw back, he grabs Genny's outfit with his teeth and swings her over his back, before running out of the cave.

His cheeks deepen that red, so do her own. For a moment, they share that moment together. She wanted to stay here just a moment longer.[break][break]

But the distant sounds of battle called for them both to assist. They couldn't dawdle, and as much as she wanted to. No matter how much she wanted to sit here.[break][break]

"I will. You too. Okay? I want you to see Galar for real. In one piece." she beams to him, putting her hands behind her back now. She had to get back into the mental of Senior Ranger Cromwell... as Isaac would leave.[break][break]

Genny pulls out her phone. She begins to edit the contact for Isaac to 'Izzy ❤'. Heat floods her cheeks again... and she puts away her phone. As she takes in a breath, she focuses herself, and eyes Venus, who happily seems to be just watching the whole thing, curious to see how it goes.[break][break]

Releasing and mounting up on Zagreus, she heads off in her own way.

The war returns. But for just a moment longer... the distraction sits in the air. Just a moment longer. Winter may be rolled back to autumn, but for just a moment...[break][break]

When Isaac closes his eyes... Genny can feel it in her ear. Her breath hitches quietly. She had a moment to really look at him, and how much different he was now. She thinks of her previous crushes, her relationships and what must be different to now. Why she felt so warm on the inside, and on the outside, she couldn't pinpoint.[break][break]

When she stands up on her tiptoes, she moves closer. She can hear her heart beating harder. Ba-Bum. Ba-Bum. Ba-Bum.[break][break]

Without fear, she closes the distance. And Isaac would feel warmth on his cheek. A pair of lips now placed there for just a moment. The winter disappears fully. The sunshine washing over all in a dusk orange lighting. The moment goes on for what must be a few seconds, but the thumping goes on for a while.[break][break]

And then?[break][break]

She pulls away. Her cheeks hot, her breathing heavy.[break][break]

"Thank you. Izzy." She looks away, a small smile on her lips, as she twirls a strand of hair with her finger, a small giggle echoing from her throat. There's a different feeling in the air now.

So adorable. Genny couldn't help but melt. She was the best? Genevieve felt her lips tremble. Was this how she was when she moved to Hoenn? This innocence... she missed it. These days, she's reminded of her mission that nearly broke her, or the loss of Mr. Business. But right now, keeping that innocence held tight mattered more than anything.[break][break]

And... maybe she could be the best big sister to this adorable little creampuff?[break][break]

Watching her go after a Bulbasaur makes all the difference. The perfect friend for Chica, and one that Genny can't help but marvel at. Little Wright continues to hover close by, the Togetic watching from a distance as Momo does what she does best.[break][break]

And with the capture, Genny throws a fist up. "Good job, Momo! You're a natural!" A Yamper and a Bulbasaur, back-to-back? What a good stroke of luck.

It was so cute. Watching the bubbly energy that Genny had, exude from herself as she took him to every spot she could in town. Bits and pieces. A little more of the dream fades every moment. A little more of the memories looking over them. All of them...[break][break]

And slowly. Ever so slowly... those memories faded too. The fading dream disappears at parts. But in Genny's excitement, she would happily continue showing Isaac her birthplace. A place she herself didn't get to know well.[break][break]

It felt so right.[break][break]

And then.[break][break]

In their wonderland... the world fades back, and they are at the entrance to the caves. The grottos. The ice and snow was gone, replaced by the coming cold front of autumn. That memory, the Interdream, just a whisper on the wind.[break][break]

How long had Genny been enjoying holding Isaac close? She couldn't tell, but bubbles surge from her heart, and explode every which way. But now, it was time to get back to work.[break][break]

Just one more thing.[break][break]

"Hey. Isaac? Can you close your eyes real quick?" She asks, letting go of his hand, giving him the leeway to pull away.[break][break]

Venus, behind her, could sense her intentions. This girl was truly gumdrops and ice cream.

Silence falls. The snow begins to melt. With the Valiant's disappearance, the trauma overcame, Circhester can be as it was. The memory everything Genny had been told, every picture she had ever seen displaying its beauty. The transient dream would fade in time. The Interdream Mist would dissipate in time.[break][break]

But when the sun begins to shine... Genny got to see it, just as it was in those images. Those photos. What it really was. What it could be.[break][break]

Seeing the red thread unraveled, the memories of those Pokemon, the lost ones would follow them, as she speaks. "Let me show you the place I was born." Two hands come for one of his own, and Genny's face embodies the sunlight; happy and bright. "Circhester is made of stone bricks, and has a hot spring underneath it to keep it warm in the mountains. It's called the Hero's Bath."[break][break]

Happiness swirls in the chest, and all Venus can do is wave to those images of the lost. Those memories who floated above, and followed them. They may not be real, but the Gardevoir knew that they would watch over these two.[break][break]

"Come on, Izzy! I want to show you!"[break][break]

Venus tilts her head that direction. Her Trainer didn't hide it at all, did she? The Gardevoir floats by, an attendant to her Trainer, happy to be involved. To be here, to see her so happy and giddy. Excited to show this guy the town.[break][break]

Sunlight always came after a dark night, after all.

Genny felt herself trembling. There's a part of her that knows, deeply, how wrong this is. And how she should stop while she's ahead. But here Ollie is, right when she needs him, and she fidgets quietly, able to finally get into the apartment.[break][break]

It's cleaner than it was when she was here, years and years ago. Twenty years ago, she was a slob. A mess. She hardly wanted anyone over. But somehow, the place was much more spotless lately.[break][break]

Wonder why.[break][break]

As she quietly falls towards the teeny used couch, the soft black cushions absorbed her in, as she pointed to a whole section of movies. Romcoms. Dramas. Some thrillers, some horror. She didn't seem big on action movies... and they were neatly sectioned by the genre. Genny had gotten orderly. But added to this, on the coffee table was an unopened carton of strawberry ice cream, untouched. Melted within its container...[break][break]

Turns out getting drunk often led to her falling asleep before she did her chores.[break][break]

"W'ever you want. All'o'em are good." Genny was swimming. Here she was, intending to go for it. Whatever it was, and she couldn't even stand properly. She felt like a mess. She WAS a mess.

Pushing a strand of her orange-red hair behind an ear, she watches Momo take the lead. With her own Chikorita no less, Genny happily watches the tiny being coo out, and all she can do is grin.[break][break]

It wasn't that Genny couldn't take care of her. Quite the contrary. Genevieve was more than capable. But nothing beats putting the right Pokemon to the right home, and seeing Momo light up when she was given that little grass Pokemon meant the world. That part of it never got old. Seeing the smile on her face.[break][break]

It really was like having a little sister sometimes.[break][break]

Seeing the whole battle, the surprise the Yamper had, and the Pokeball, Genny crossed her arms happily, watching the little dog get caught in mere moments after a Razor Leaf. And when she turns around... stars.[break][break]

"Heh. As long as you need to be out here, Momo. I'm open!"[break][break]

She wasn't going anywhere at all. Genny would stay here for as long as Momo needed the company. And, keeping the closest thing to a sister safe? That did her heart good. Little Wright just bounces quietly, watching and staying near Momo. The more she could help her get Pokemon she wanted, the better.

The rumbling had begun. Unfortunately, Genny had not been given the memo fast enough, but Artie definitely did. With a powerful FRENZY PLANT, every spike in the room would be uprooted and useless for any killer intent. The only issue was, even as Lam got closer, now that they were done being swiss cheese models, the grotto intended to crush them.[break][break]

Genny smirks. Just crush them? Please. This wouldn't be hard. Quickly hopping over towards Lam, a ball in hand, and a new friend out.[break][break]

"Eias maneuver. Aurora Beam on the walls. Freeze all around you." When Vanilla Ice came out, and utilized the AURORA BEAM to freeze the whole circle they stood in, Genny shoots Lam a look. He's not the only one who can pull themselves out of the frying pan.[break][break]

The only issue was that the heat was turning up. The walls were slowing down, whatever mechanism used starting to freeze over, as the Frosmoth hit the glyphs...[break][break]

The ceiling just happened to have a bunch of spikes moving downwards at that exact moment. As if slicing into them, crushing them, and skewering wasn't enough.[break][break]

"All you, Lammy." Genny nods with confidence to Lammy.[break][break]

They would make it through together.

When Genny turns a moment to see Isaac's pack behind him, she turns her head back, and it all becomes so much clearer. She can see them... Ms. Clean. Lady Bloom. Dr. Rhythm. Cardi B. Hazel. Mr. Business. Her eyes are locked. And it becomes all more clear. His eyes were on them. A Gardevoir. An Aggron.[break][break]

And when two came out of the woodwork, a Ralts with blue hair, snapping into action... and a familiar sight. And it pulled at her heart. Their coffee shop talk has her remember. This was that one. The one he lost. Kiryu.[break][break]

Her lip quivers. She sees all of her fallen around her. Wet eyes gloss with painful goodbyes.[break][break]

"I love you all." The trauma, addressed. Always present, always upon her back, but no longer making it bend. This would not be her anymore, this would not weigh on her again. She lets go. She lets go of the pain. She may feel it. She may have all of these sad memories appearing one-by-one, memories that dragged her down, but she would not let them define her.[break][break]

"Thank you for being a part of my life."[break][break]

Seeing Isaac to work, with Neo and Duster fighting back, the woman placed one hand on her chest. The look she gives him is one that Venus can see a mile away.[break][break]

Neo METAL BURSTS, making it reel back, and with this, Duster comes in with a slam of a FALSE SWIPE, knocking the monstrous machine onto a knee, and stabbing into the ground. Its vision was doubled, its display that of irritation and exhaustion. Venus would sit back, sitting upon the wind itself, and eyes on Isaac.[break][break]

"Go on." Genny says. Clutching her ever-quickening heartbeat.[break][break]

The dream was ending soon. Fading more and more... the transient dream blending back to reality. Though they may be memories... the dream was real to them.[break][break]
