Hitoshi Inoue 's advice is swiftly discarded as Xenon rides further out into the blizzard, her opinion made loud and clear on the intercoms for anyone in Rocket (including Cillian Quinn ). A Glacial Lance flies her way and only further punctuates her point, hanging around this dying rodent to wait for more deadweight Rockets was nothing but a waste of time in her own opinion.

So she'd go further into the snow, damn the consequences. If it was a choice between wandering out into the cold to maybe die, or staying in one place and definitely dying, the choice was more than obvious. Too bad that nobody else could see that as she heads off into the wilds of the Crown Tundra on her own. She sure as hell wasn't trusting some dying king's promise of legend and fame. This was merely a broken dream of the past, a dying country with no worth, an artifact rotting in the grave. Into the trash.

If she was going to be any kind of character in a story, she'd be the Ultramodernist Villain who bulldozes over these legends and myths, throwing all of it into the trash where it belonged. Kings, knights, princesses, heroes, she'd crush them all and climb the mountain of their corpses to get out of this rotting corpse. And then she'd forget this place ever even existed and firmly bury it in the dirt where it belonged.

Perhaps then it is a blessing in disguise that the Calyrex's power reaches out to her regardless, wisps of Infinity Energy lashing into her in the storm and dragging her across space, bending her path towards the Glimwood Tangle and taking her to one of those last bastions of civilization... Ballonlea.

To say that she was trying to save "them" was probably an exaggeration, it was really more like she was trying to save herself and the two strangers had the opportunity to latch onto her coattails and ride along to safety with her. But hey, if they wanted to believe she was trying to save them, that wasn't really something that concerned her in the slightest!

Xenon's pathing is erratic and nonsensical to the casual observer, random turns and zigzags scrape precious seconds off the clock as the storm grows closer and closer with every passing moment, even Xenon is starting to sweat as she picks up her pace, sprinting along this invisible set of tracks as cold sweat trickles down the nape of her neck. There's barely even a picosecond to spare as a rocky outcropping comes into view, the trio diving into safe cover as the biting sands rush around them and blanket the area in a brown cloud of death.

Its only once Xenon is absolutely sure she's safe that all the tension leaves her body and she collapses onto the ground, her chest heaving with exertion as she reaches back into her coat to pull out her water bottle. "Damn! Another second out there and we would have gotten turned into shredded beef huh, haha~" The way she says it is casual, frivolous almost, like she almost got caught up in city traffic rather than having the flesh stripped from her bones by a million bits of sand particulate moving at mach speeds.

"Well, I'm here to do some scouting for my bosses I guess! Would much rather have gotten sent to that new Ultra Space that got discovered, but you win some you lose some." She shrugs as she moves to unscrew the cap of her water bottle, only now realizing that the cap was missing. Seems she had forgotten to screw it back on. "Anyone want some water?" It seems rather uncharacteristically kind of her to offer, but anyone who took the bottle from her outstretched hand would look inside and find it... well, rather polluted by sand. Lots and lots of sand.

A powerful gust of wind blows Xenon's hood back as Gerald's descent is halted, her hair fluttering in the wind for a moment while she eagerly mumbles further notes and calculations into her recorder. It was not inaccurate to say that Xenon was far more interested in her own words rather than others, but it would instead be more accurate to say that she placed more value in what she saw with her own eyes rather than what she heard with her own ears. The values and experiences she accumulated of her own effort would always outweigh the thoughts and feelings of others, this was just another facet of the ideal future she envisioned.

"Note: The subject seems to be averse to violence at this current juncture, further observation will be needed to determine if this is an aversion to all violence or simply violence between those it perceives as allies." The scientists rambles on as she moves to study the Iron Moth from another angle, her eyes sparkling as she bares witness to wings of flame blooming from its back. "The subject displays flames from its wings, likely the result of heating coils hidden under the metallic chassis hitting 800 degrees Celsius, possibly hotter, will need to test the subject to see what its maximum output. Fire type confirmed, wait, more!"

Its almost impressive the speed at which she moves once she sees the buildup of noxious chemicals along the Iron Moth's body, zipping to an empty corner of the lab and procuring a set of thick glass vials from a nearby tray. Not even a second after she's zooming back towards the Iron Moth and almost diving underneath it, holding out an open vial and collecting several drops of the hissing poison without any regard for her own safety or well being. "Subject is also confirmed to be a poison type as well! Comparisons to be made to the Salazzle line perhaps?" She glances back up at the Iron Moth above her, eyes focused on another drop of poison building at the bottom of its chassis as she slowly crawls backwards a few inches.

A violet drop of death hits the ground where her head just was a few moments ago, Xenon stares intently at the slight pool of poison as she waits to see if it can corrode the metal or not.

"Subject does not possess the Corrosion ability. Hmm..." She gets back up off the floor and turns to Gerald, placing a firm hand on his shoulder whilst digging into her coat for something else. "Alright I'm almost done with you, just got one last thing to test out for the day." A pokeball is withdrawn from the voluminous depths of her labcoat and tossed onto the floor, in a blinding flash of red light the subject known as Iron Jugulis emerges into the lab with a mighty roar. "Rhodium, deploy Electric Terrain. I need to test a theory." The iron beast's roar is cut short as its LED pupils blink rapidly in some unknown sequence, communicating to its brethren its intent.

And just like that, the environment of this sterile lab is dyed in electric white as the field of lightning is spread, power welling in Rhodium's body as it synchronizes with the environment its most comfortable with. Would the Iron Moth do the same?

Xenon really couldn't care less about the immense look of disappointment on Shred's face as he witnesses who he's been paired up with, nor does she particularly care about Sylvia Cousteau immediately assigning her some asinine nickname. What she does care about though, is gloomy's uninvited touch upon her wrist and his unsolicited critique of her incredibly stylish and Ultramodern sense of aesthetics. Just one of those things on their own, maybe she would have let it slide with just a biting word and a harsh glare. But both at once? Well yeah, it shouldn't be any surprise what happense when you grab and yell at a dangerous creature you see in the wild.

After a moment of blank staring right into those mirrored shades, Xenon's other hand snaps up and punches the prick right in the nose.

It's not hard enough to break the cartilage! She wasn't the kind of savage who would maim her teammate over something minor like this! But she very obviously needed to establish her authority right now if she was going to be getting anywhere with these amoeba brained morons, and what better way to do that than with a good show of Ultramodern violence? She yanks her hand from Shred's grip and wipes it off against her coat, letting out a cold sigh as she really focuses her attention on Shred now.

"The team name is Ultramodern Futurists, you dumb fuck savage bone for brains! And if you want to criticize my superior aesthetic, maybe you should consider updating your wardrobe, the 80s was 40 years ago you pathetic wannabe hair metal rock star!" So focused is she on verbally tearing apart this moron, that she barely notices the other girl introducing herself as some kind of spy, nor does she notice her completely changing both of the names they submitted and combining them into a horrible slurry of cool ultramodern aesthetic and pathetic rock star bravado. Maybe later she would notice and bemoan the horrifyingly cruel moniker that had been forced upon her, the tragedy of postmodern stylishness combined with the utter lameness of a word like "Shredettes", but for now she was completely and entirely focused on starting a fight with Shred.

Xenon shrugs as she pulls Rhodium back into its Pokeball and heads over to her partners, one gloomy looking guy (Shred) and one boring looking girl who tried to blow her off earlier (Sylvia Cousteau). Neither of them would probably be propping her up that much, which means she'd basically have to carry this whole team on her own. Fine by her, gives her all the more chance to shine the brightest.[break][break]

"Alright Team Ultramodern Futurists, listen good and listen hard! Basically I'm just going to carry you through this whole test, so all you have to do is not drag me down! Like I said earlier, if you hold me back in any way, I'll bite your faces off! Long as we understand that, I think we'll all get along just fine! My specialties are whatever I feel like at the given moment, my team is a lovely team of ultramodern Pokemon like Rhodium, Radon, and Argon, and my hobbies are cooking and building cool new futures!" And with that introduction out of the way, she would immediately steamroll anyone else's introduction or protests as she snaps on the bracelet and enters in the team name as Team Ultramodern Futurists. Go team!

Xenon had come here to try and gather up with other Rockets, and already she was regretting it as she's forced to listen to some loud mouth Leaguer screaming about dangerous Rockets and blah blah BLAH! Xenon mutters as she switches out her Pokemon, drawing Rhodium back into his pokeball and sending out Radon as she gets ready to go scout around for a way out of this hopeless memory of the past she's found herself trapped in.[break][break]

She looks to Cillian Quinn with a frown. "I don't know what your plan is, but I'm going to start looking for a way out of this stupid tundra. I definitely don't plan on sticking around for whatever is going on with-" An explosion rocks the area from a short distance away, interrupting Xenon while simultaneously punctuating her sentence without even needing to finish it. "Yeah. You all can come with me, or you can go kill yourselves on the rampaging big brain. I don't care. Wait, except for you." She then turns her attention to Hitoshi Inoue and gestures with her uninjured arm. "I'm gonna need you later if I can't get this arm fixed up, so you're coming with me to cut down anything that needs to get cut down. Now help me up onto Radon, you can ride too if you want." Regardless of if Hitoshi Inoue acquiesced to her demands or not, she'd quickly head out in the opposite direction of Calyrex's rampage to try and find a way out of the hellish Tundra she'd found herself in, asking questions of a dying beast didn't interest her in the slightest. The only thing a rotting corpse had to offer was a vision of the past. And if she were to be so unlucky as to get targeted by one of those Glacial Spikes flying to and fro, she would have a Protect locked and loaded to keep her and Radon safe, along with whoever else might be riding the gargantuan Scolipede.

Her best efforts aren't good enough, she must push harder and faster if she wants to survive this catastrophe. The chill snow hits her and Rhodium head on without mercy, any of the black flakes they had managed to collect are scattered about the battlefield as each of the little vials in her jacket are thrown from her possession and into the freezing cold, but that matters little in the face of the much greater threat presented to her.[break][break]

She and Rhodium manage to escape the avalanche, but hardly unscathed as a thin layer of frost clings to her arm and bites into her bones, she can already feel frostbite setting in as she hurriedly brings the limb close to the mechanical dragon's flames to try and prevent serious injury. The battle had only just started after all, who knew what the future would hold?[break][break]

The battlefield is sheer chaos as waves of flame and psychic energy sweep through the lines, healing energy glancing across the dog's shield for scant moments before malicious psychic energy completely restricts the restorative effects from taking effect, fire is redirected and then enhanced as its thrown back to its original target, not even Xenon's superior brain can calculate everything happening at once as her eyes dart in every direction to try and measure the future. Monsters of the League evolve beyond their limits to contend against shadowy mutations of the natural order, but finally the chaos reaches its peaks as a Beast of Ruination emerges and utterly destroys Zamazenta with a powerful pulse of primordial evil.[break][break]

And that's when everything truly goes to hell.[break][break]

The world goes black as a wave of darkness washes over her and Rhodium, she feels like she's floating in the void for an eternity, yet only a second passes as she blinks and finds herself in a world of snowy ruin. A painful chill runs through her frostbitten arm and she pulls it close to her, clinging tightly to Rhodium as she tries to discern just where the hell she was, where everyone was. The legendary beasts were gone, all that was left was snow and the people who had just been trying to kill each other without hesitation. [break][break]

"Well, what's past is past. Time to move on to the future." She mutters as she directs the Iron Jugulis to start moving towards Cillian Quinn and his Shadow Lugia, any Rocket with a lick of common sense would know that's the spot to gather and any League with an ounce of self preservation would know to stay far the fuck away. "The Crown Tundra huh? If I recall correctly, isn't everyone in Galar like uh... fucked?" There's a dark tinge of amusement in her voice as she approaches Cillian Quinn and Hitoshi Inoue, waving at the two with her uninjured arm, then immediately flinching as the pain runs up her very injured arm once again. "Xenon here, any pretty boys around here got a pokemon that can heal me? Or am I fucked?"[break][break]

Her voice is unnaturally soft as she pops open the lock to the Beldum's cage, watching it slowly meander out and take its first glimpse of the world outside the cave. Its crimson eye peers inquisitively at the dead bodies on the floor, absorbing the visual stimuli of crimson life staining the grey tile of the hallway outside the storage room, staring at the glassy eyes of the dead man as Xenon steps over him and looks back at the baby pokemon.

"Come on then. You don't want to get left behind." Xenon coos as the Beldum speeds up its approach, just in time for the girl to crouch down and poke a pokeball against its forehead and claim ownership of it for herself. "You shall be key to creating the future, an essential element to make sure the steel of my blade never dulls and never rusts. You shall be Chromium." She presses the pokeball to her lips as its lock clicks shut, a chaste kiss that lasts for but a brief second before she tucks the pokeball into her coat and turns back to Kouji.

"Alright bone for brains, we've got half a minute to blow this joint before the alarm goes off, another minute after that the doors are gonna lock and we're sitting Psyducks. Time to move!" And just like that she's off like a Boltund, running back the way they came and making a hard right as she follows some ingrained path in her head towards the back exit. It's all up to Kouji now to keep up.

"Project Exodus was a vanity project trying to replicate legends of old, the only worth it has is that those eggheads you call Head Researchers at least had the brains to improve on it instead of just wholesale reviving some primitive garbage from the past." Respect, position, common courtesy, all primitive garbage ideals that she tossed into the trash in her pursuit of the future. Crunch.

And she has no problem making that known as once again she zooms into Cillian's personal space and stares him in the eye. "You're strong, so I can respect you for now. Stronger than me, strong enough to kill me. That means I gotta listen to you. But remember this, once I'm strong enough to stand on your level, things like favor and respect won't mean jack in the future I'm creating. So don't expect me to come crawling to your feet and begging for your attention once I've finished up my masterpiece. You're all gonna take one look at the future I'm building, and you're gonna be begging me to take your money and make you all into legends. Guaranteed."

Coming from anyone else, one would simply take it as the shallow promise of some wannabe grunt trying to make themselves look good in front of the boss. But its easy to see that Xenon doesn't give a single damn about the opinion of anyone but herself, this isn't a promise in her mind. This is a prophecy of the future, a guarantee that she can deliver on everything she says and more. Failure just isn't a consideration to someone like her.

To be entirely honest, Xenon wasn't a fan of Aggrons or Arons in the slightest. The shining armor they wore reminded her too much of the knights of old, primitive beasts bound to codes of chivalry and honor that she saw no use for in her ultramodern future. But all the same, that armor they wore was something she needed for construction of a truly ultramodern pokemon, so she would wade into the field of battle all the same to claim that shining armor and rub it into the mud for her own use.

The mad ultramodernist grins as she releases her artificial dragon onto the field, the triplet heads of the Iron Jugulis roaring furiously as it descends upon the cohort of knightly beasts with all the fury of Vortigern tearing apart the Knights of the Round. There would be no fairy tale ending for this battle though, darkness would triumph as Xenon directs this play to a proper ultramodern conclusion.

Xenon didn't even mind it when the Iron Hands picked her up and placed her a delicate five feet away, she was just happy to be making new discoveries as she babbles on about "ultra dense magnetic fields" and "high tension future steel composites" as she whips out a notebook from somewhere on her person, already scheduling an appointment with Isaac Merlo for the future once the two of them had made it out of this.

But that wasn't what she was here for unfortunately, the test begins as the group are directed towards rows upon rows of computers, each with the same question displayed upon their monitor. The threats we know, the threats within, or the threats unknown. Each answer surely had their merit of course, but for Xenon there could only be one logical conclusion as she walks up to a computer and hits the button without a moment's hesitation.

And it just so happens that she's right next to Hitoshi Inoue as the two make their answer at the same time. Yet the two's logic couldn't be more different as Xenon sneers at the mindless blade arguing with the equally mindless fop, opening her mouth to grab the stage once more. "You're both stupid and wrong for entirely different reason." She proclaims loudly as she stares at Hitoshi Inoue and Ashley Shepard , crossing her arms and shaking her head. Everyone here was wrong and stupid in fact, all this talk of killing the threats unknown, focusing their energy on shooting the threats we know, it was all so primitive.

"We don't focus on the threats unknown so we can kill them, that's a waste of future resources. We focus on the threats unknown so we can take them for ourselves first, research them and learn how to make ourselves stronger. The League's biggest advantage over us is the dearth of Avatars they have, but we know how to kill a man already. We just need the firepower to be able to do it, you'd think that's pretty fucking obvious."  It seemed like only that white haired fop Alba Evovae and her fellow Ultramodernist Isaac Merlo had any semblance of a brain in their heads at this point, so she wastes no time in walking right up to the pretty boys, reaching out with both hands, and rustling their hair with a pleased smile. "These guys gets it right here, we don't need to focus on the stupid stuff we already know, that's all a bunch of worthless primitive garbage. All we need is the proper ultramodern arsenal to be able to blow it all away so we can build the right kind of future!"
