To be honest, if you were someone who was born with an affinity for the water, taking to the air was rather difficult—especially if it wasn’t on the back of a Mantine…

Once he’d signed up for the middle course as well, all they had to do was wait until the people ahead of them were done—which wouldn’t take too long.

“Oh boy, here we go…” he said; mostly to himself as he would up his shoulders and prepared himself for a bout of running—

Seeing that his companion had returned, and the kids now had an Ampharos and a Clefairy plush in their hands, he cackled.

“Whoops, I grabbed a Mareep so… who wants it?”

The one holding the Ampharos made a beeline for the Chinchou plush he was holding, which meant the Clefairy owner had the Mareep—the Wooloo he’d already tucked away because that was for himself and nobody else…

“Call me Jack. Everyone does,” he continued with a two-fingered salute as he then saw the exchange between her and the Wooloo that accompanied her… before breaking out into a laugh.

“Uh-oh, looks like someone’s hungry,” he teased while their two young companions squealed at the plush toys they would be taking home for the day.

Meanwhile, his Wooloo could only cackle softly because she was above asking for cakes.

(Just don’t get her started on Berries. Boy.)

“What are you doing out here?!” he grumbled, accompanied by his eternally-useless Yamper, Sumi. It didn’t take too long for the canid Pokémon to actually stumble over something… yet another Pyukumuku!

“I hope everyone’s aware that the moment you throw them out as far away from the shoreline as possible, they actually come back to the exact same spot,” he grumbled as he rolled up his sleeves and picked up the one he very nearly almost stepped on, before throwing it as hard as he could.

Not too far away, his Yamper had gotten into a scuffle with another Pyukumuku, roughly playing with it before snoot-bumping it back into the water.

Yikes.

These were.

These were the eternal scourge of all Alolans across all the beaches back home…

Yesterday’s find resembled the other two he already had sitting around so far, and he wondered if having three and putting them all together resulted in something special? He hummed at the thought.

Today was the day Arja the Mareanie was out of time-out, and now the two Water-types were getting along swimmingly.

“Come on, you two, let’s go!” he said as he took the lead and dove into the water, the Mareanie and Mantyke following him as he saw something shiny and made to grab it before resurfacing.

“You’re not going to believe how much collateral damage Gor causes when he just wants to say hello,” he continued with a sigh and a roll of his eyes. “It’s like he a big-ass ball of sunshine in the completely opposite body of what you’d expect.”

“Well I’ll have you know I’m a semi-pro Mantine surfer,” he cackled a few moments later as he took the earplugs and made to get on the Beedrill’s back.

“I chose to travel out from Alola to seek bigger waves, and all that.”

In no time flat they were at the obstacle course, and he idly wondered just how much of his surfing know-how he could put to use across this. It wasn’t easy balancing on the back of a Mantine but there you were.

“Let’s go for the middle course first, then after the warm up… go big or go home?” he dared the other with this shit-eating grin on his face as he began to stretch his legs upon arrival after popping out the earplugs, of course.

While she was away at the next booth, he’d managed to pop two more of the silver-colored balloons, which meant he landed all three of his shots.

Holy shit, since when was he a good shot like that? He knew his sense of balance was wonky at best, but…

Strange.

“Congratulations, kid, go pick your three prizes from the wall over there,” the person in charge of the booth called his way, and he then quickly made his choices—one Mareep, one Chinchou and… obviously, a Wooloo.

(Now it went without saying that the Wooloo one was his, obviously.)

“I’ll take those, thanks,” he said as he gave a one-armed salute before going over to find his companion for the day. “Cheers!”

Okay… how was his Mantyke able to lug a Clamperl around? Was he seeing things? Damn, she must have some good strength!

“Wow. I never thought you’d be able to bring back an entire Clamperl yourself,” he chuckled as he remembered yesterday, where he actually had to use both his hands to catch the Calmperl before it got away!

“What’chu got this time?” he hummed as said Mantyke approached him again, fins wiggling with a prize on her back.

It wouldn’t take too long before their wandering around the fair would take them past the game booths that offered prizes—and he hit upon an idea.

“I have an idea,” he began once he was sure Cyn the Wooloo wasn’t going to run away (she in fact, was enjoying the attention she was getting from the child who was literally giving them chin scratches).

“Let’s try to get them a prize or two to take home, what do you say?”

The booths were the ones that involved throwing darts at balloons; the bigger the balloon popped, the better the prize.

“I hope you have good aim,” he chuckled quietly as he paid and got several darts handed to him.

“Alright, let’s see…”

Taking aim, he then let the dart, which was decorated to look like a Beedrill, loose.

What he was not expecting, however, was to hit one of the bigger silver-colored balloons.

“Whoa. That’s not happened to me before,” he continued with a bemused grin on his face as the kid that was with him began cheering him on.

The moment she disclosed that she wasn’t as good as she was, another surprised look crossed his face.

Once he was done with his corndog, he then beat off the crumbs and made to throw away the paper sleeve and the stick in a nearby trash bin.

“Good you ain’t gonna make me do that, you might liquefy my brains if you did!” he cackled.
