He was still lost.

Normally, he wouldn’t have minded; however today was an entirely different matter altogether—his shadow was missing, to boot! Just how bad was his luck going to be today?!

He heard his Absol growling quietly from up ahead, and he quickly made tracks, coming to a stop just right behind her because he did not want whatever was waiting for him to attack—

Instead, though, he would see—lots of people. And Pokémon, too!

The two were literally in the middle of a track where there were the procession of people and Pokémon were marching—

For a few moments he would forget that he was lost.

Little did he know that there was a nasty surprise waiting when he looked down and realized that what he was seeing wasn’t exactly 100% alive anymore!

The longer he looked down at the ground, the more evident (not to mention obvious) it became that his shadow was indeed, missing from where it normally should be.

“Oh, shit. I was afraid of this,” he continued to nobody in particular.

Out of habit, he then summoned his Absol in a flash of red light, who then appeared for a four-point paw landing and blinked the moment she realized that something was amiss about him.

“Y-yeah. Something’s missing. And… I need you here with me,” he continued quietly as he continued looking around; hoping that they weren’t going to get even more lost than they already were in the gloom.

“Shall we go?” he asked; the Absol squinted at him, before finally nodding and taking the lead; him following her—eyes still peeled for wherever the fuck his shadow had disappeared off to.

“I forgot one more. I forgot the Sandshrew. In Alola, they’re not Ground-type… they’re Ice-type, and Steel for some reason. Must be because of Mount Lanakila,” he added as he remembered that he’d missed one Pokémon.

There were… he knew there were other regional variants, too…

“I know that Galar has its own versions, too… the one I know of is the funny-looking Farfetch’d. Normally the ones I’m aware of don’t wield their leeks like a big-ass sword. I think there’s also a Ponyta that’s not on fire, but instead looks like a unicorn that stepped out of a storybook…” he continued as he tried to recall what else he knew about Galarian forme Pokémon.

“Hilariously, you thought Meowth only had an Alolan forme? Well… apparently it also has a Galarian forme, and they look extremely different from the Alolan version!” he went on.

It was like the heavens had heard Maoja’s silent inquiry—for sooner (not later) Lis was back on her feet and stuck her tongue out at Ride the strange motorbike-like Pokémon, before rolling away—

“Aww, she’s upset,” he hummed quietly before Sumi the Yamper gave chase—and vanished off into the distance.

It wouldn’t take too long before Sumi would return, yelping her ass off like she’d found gold or something, because she was accompanied by another Wooloo—

However this Wooloo didn’t have a collar of any kind or sort on it.

Clearly, the little one was lost!

“Huh. Hey, Sumi! Where’s Lis?” he asked his silly Yamper; to which she would tilt her head in the direction she came; before the other Wooloo came trotting back—rolling some Berries along.

“Huh. Wait. If that’s Lis, then who—” he trailed off, as he looked at the new Wooloo whose fur was… clearly a mess. There were no collars or anything on the little one, so…

“Huh.”

The Safari Zone would always amaze him—because the concept of it all didn’t even exist in his home region of Alola!

(Okay, to be fair, the closest they had was… what was the name of that weird place… Pelag-something or other, he couldn’t remember.)

It had been so long since he’d come here, and getting four Safari Balls would always bring out this look of bemusement on his face.

Either way, it was time to go through the entire place from top to bottom—or front to back, all things considered. He knew he saw a few things he wanted to get his paws on, so that was the aim of this entire trip right now.

Had he taken a wrong turn out at Mount Pyre, again?!

The same rolling fog from the last time he was here was… well, it was absolutely back, and it was not a welcome presence!

“Oh, no.”

He then pressed the palms of his hands to his eyes; the better to shutter out the building pressure in the back of his head as he then took a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself down…

Surely, he could find his way out of here the same as last time—right? Right?

All he had to do was to go…

No, no, Jack—don’t go wandering into the rolling fog! That’s the fastest way you’ll get lost in the midst!

Once he’d calmed himself down enough, he then looked around, and then wondered… huh.

Did… did his shadow disappear?

The more treats the Yamper received, the more… pliable they would be when it came to following orders.

(Hilariously, if the treats were from Jack then there was zero chance of her following him despite him asking nicely! Wonder why that was.)

He then happened to look over at the Litten, and cracked a grin of his own.

“Oh, I hope your cat doesn’t grow into a lunkhead… mine did, and he’s an absolute idiot in battles,” he shared; that crackhead smirk on his face getting wider the more he thought about Bas… appropriately named, too.

“He thinks he’s some kind of a world-famous wrestler… you’ll see, when your Litten fully evolves.”

Right then and there the Yamper began to run circles around them both… oh, boy.

“Sumi! What the hell?!” he exclaimed; as he tried to follow the blur that was now running around like a kid hopped up on sugar—a metric assload of it, too.

“Yeah… that’s what happens to her when she’s had too much to eat. Especially too many treats!”

The moment the spectral angry fried chicken of a Pokémon (sorry, but to Jack Moltres looks like a literal piece of flying chicken set on fire) began to bat them back; he knew that they were going to have some problems…

However, he was surprised to see that even she had a shiny white cat of her own!

“Whoa, okay that’s way too much to be a coincidence,” he remarked as he then saw what she’d done—and did the same.

However, instead of a thunderbolt emerging from the top of his own white cat, some funny-looking diagram of the planet in sections appeared before his thunder cat took a quick, sharp banking turn the moment they landed on the ground.

“Go! Do it one more time! Cordy, help out too!”

With his two Pokémon working together, they would then launch another Dragon Hammer as well as a Night Slash aimed towards the spectral Moltres; hopefully driving it back into the pervading gloom…

He was still watching from his current semi-prone position on the ground when the attack from several rounds earlier actually—

Whoa.

“Cordy!” he yelped as he pushed himself to his feet; the better to run and hug her as he made a mad dash onto the stage regardless of the shaking and the debris. “We did it!”

He looked up towards his opponent for that round, and called his way, “Thanks, you did great too! Your giant Pikachu almost squashed us flat,” he added with a chuckle.

He had a suspicion that they were part of the alternate Galar roadtrip, just that they may not have been in the same city…

The ground was shaking, the ground was shaking—

Now, Jack normally was no stranger to earthquakes of the natural kind, however the way everything nearby was just shaking caused him to yelp—and fall on his ass on his side of the field!

“WHOA!” he yelped—

And that was when, right at that moment in time, the Future Sight attack from earlier came crashing in, full-force.

But was it going to be enough to bring the massive Pikachu to their knees?

(And hopefully, did everyone have enough time to get out of the fallout area should the gigantic behemoth come crashing down?!)

The moment the Pikachu grew to exponentially-larger proportions than was normally possible, he could only look up and…

“Oh, crap.”

Even the Absol was shocked at the size of the—damn it, that was a colossal-sized Pikachu! What was this!

“Cordy, be careful!” he warned the Absol as even she was left staring at the comically-huge behemoth that loomed before them. How were they going to bring it down?!

Simple: by hacking away at them like a tree!

(Or that was how he knew it worked, the bigger they were the harder they fell, or something?)

The Dark-type then leapt forward, coming out swinging with a sudden Night Slash because holy shit imagine the collateral damage when this went down… that would be… a mess… right?

(And he also remembered something else, wasn’t this what also happened in that alternate Hammerlocke he was blasted to? Huh…)
