How did that happen?

The last attack actually landed and caused the Corviknight to come crashing to the ground—and then the rest was lost in a blur of noise because he… he actually won against that big, scary metal bird?

“Hey,” he called from his side of the field as he climbed the stage to get his Absol down and off, “…that was a nice match! Your bird is extremely terrifying, I’ll admit, I was shaking in my boots!”

The surprise Electric-type attack very nearly caught the Absol off-guard, however with some quick thinking she was able to get out of the way—however, the fact of the matter was that this Pikachu appeared to be rather hale and hearty, considering that it was one hit per round so he had to make good on this next attack!

“Come on, Cordy!” he cheered his Dark-type on as she then took a peer into the Future with her foreSight; hoping to see as far enough as she could—because seeing into the future was very unreliable at best, wonky at worst.

He mentally crossed his fingers and hoped that the Absol would land a solid strike on her opponent!

“Whoa, what the—Cordy, watch out!” he called from his side of the stage as the smeargle then mimicked the attack, sending back a Night Slash of its own right at her!

Wow, how dare!

“You’re not going to take any of that like a coward, right?” he continued; as this time the Absol then sought to look into the Future via her foreSight, in case something would happen to the Smeargle should this continue.

After all, this match was still in the middle of being fought, and he was definitely not going to back down from this!

This match was just as hard-fought as the one he had with CIAN MAHER, and the Absol’s last attack coming out of nowhere was the one that cinched his next victory in this current match—

“Hey, nice battle!” he called out while the poppers went off along with the commentators announcing his win, and flashing his face on the screen for everyone who was watching the match to see.

“You also have a pretty neat dog, you know,” he added before they were all swept off the arena and it was cleared out for the next match.

And Jack was not expecting he would be the one to come out with the win!

“Whoa, what—” he stammered before the poppers and sparklers went off, and his Absol’s image was projected on the big screens broadcasting the match.

“I—whoa, I’m still in shock!” he exclaimed as even he got swept up on the stage and had his surprised face flashed on screen for everyone watching their match to see.

“C-Congrats to you too, and good match!” he called out to his Froakie-wielding opponent before the stage was cleared out for the next set of challengers.

“I’ll do my best,” he nodded before the Absol howled and prepared herself to charge forward alongside the spectral Pokémon with a Swords Dance technique before lashing out with a surprise Night Slash at the angry, angry specters that were trying to swarm them and either possess them or drive them away.

“Cordy, be careful!” he warned the Dark-type as the Absol charged forward, howling at the angry specters that were trying to get a piece of them, impeding their progress.

“What a mess!” he yelped as he tried to swat at the specters that wanted a piece of them. There was no way he was going to let any of them touch either him or his companion!

“Sumi!” he exclaimed as the greedy little Yamper then sat on her ass, wagging her tail and begging for quite literally, more.

It wouldn’t take too long for the Absol to find the source of the familiar voice—thank goodness they weren’t alone out here!

He then felt the white fur suddenly surge forward, which shook him out of his daze as he was very nearly bucked off the back of the Absol as he realized he wasn’t alone.

“Wha—Cordy, who is it—” he gasped before realizing—

“Why, hello there,” he greeted the familiar face as he slid off the Absol’s back.

“Got lost in the fog just like me?” he admitted with an embarrassed chuckle accompanied by the sheepish scratching of the back of his head.

The moment she mentioned her Pokémon’s name was quite literally ‘Ride’, he had to bite back a peal of laughter. Oh my god.

“You—you legitimately named them ‘Ride’?” he wheezed, unable to resist a few moments later and doubling over on the opposite side of the fence.

“Bet I can tell they have fun with it,” he cackled afterward, noticing how the literal bike Pokémon kneed them a few moments afterward.

“S-sorry!” he wheezed again, unable to control his laughter. “It’s so punny, I can’t handle it!”

And thereupon he released his full range of laughter, leaning on the fence once he’d managed to hiccup himself back to some form of seriousness.

“Oh, right—that’s Lis, and… you remember the world’s most useless Yamper I told you about the last time we met? That’s her. That’s Sumi,” he gestured to the white-and-yellow blob that had a heart-shaped mark right on her butt.

“And for once she’s not lazing around asking for treats!”

The Yamper came to a stop very close to where they were; before tilting her head and then barking in his direction.



“What? It’s true! You always ask for treats even if I don’t have any!”
