as a newcomer to the group of individuals, lorelei had nothing to add to both gavin and barnaby checking up on mars.[break][break]
as a member of the temporary team, she did toss back a glance as she continued working on the camp preparations with her transformed ditto and garchomp. "is there need for concern?" aka: 'is everything okay?'. this was her attempt at showing concern of her own, though it was asking about something bigger - something more vague and ominous. was mars going through something that compromised their health or his own? probably not, though it seemed to be rather odd. was he in a trance? truly, the unowns were a hint towards an answer for this question and lorelei couldn't help but squint her eyes in a faint glare at the letter-based creature.[break][break]
what exactly was this extra eye letting mars see?[break][break]
"with the camp finished, i think we can take the next step." a soft pause. "maybe we all need a little rest?" this was said with a pointed glance towards mars himself, showing appropriate concern for his situation that seemed to draw the attention of the other two.

needless to say, a fairy type move was the one that wound end mother's consciousness at that moment. the houndoom had stood with her legs firmly on the ground, albeit crouched to help alleviate some pressure on her straining bones and muscles. finally shut down by the impact, she was on her side - panting and liberally bleeding on the floor. this was a complete and utter k.o but mother had held on until the last moment, almost seemingly not caring if this would be the end of her life. as lorelei approached the dark type, mother looked up not with sorrow or fear, but with sadness of having disappointed her own trainer.[break][break]
"you did well," lorelei said calmly, trying to usher mother into a much-needed rest with a soft pat on her muzzle. how long had they been together? the poor dog-type pokemon carried similar scars to her trainer from her puppy days and that made their bond stronger, though lorelei could be argued to abuse the pokemon far too much. "i'll see you later," she reassured the houndoom who gave one last wag of her tail before her form turned the iconic transparent red - signaling that she was returning to her pokeball. lorelei couldn't help but stay silent at the comment roman made. it was a direct analogy to their own relationship and she knew it, but she didn't quite want to admit it. for now, they stood quietly - solemly, appreciating their separate strengths after having come together to see what their key players could do.[break][break]
a shake of the hand was given firmly and appreciatively, her lips showing a ghost of a smile.

a content smirk flitted over lorelei's usually calm expression.[break][break]
although she wasn't one to work in groups outside the one she already belonged to, it felt new and exciting to see such teamwork pull through and fell such a mighty beast. "well done," she says to the others, clapping her hands just beyond her umbreon's girth. the dark type pokemon gives a welcome yelp of excitement as well - its tail now wagging furiously as it found itself also congratulating the new acquaintances. returned to its ball, the umbreon was no more until it was needed once more. for now, the ditto was flung into the air in front of lorelei like a pokeball itself. as if used to this treatment, it swiftly transformed into mars' braviary - matching its colors and shape to the point of being able to be used as a suitable mount for the ongoing excursion. [break][break]
proving itself to be an omni-tool, the ditto transformed again to become a paired graveler that was willing to collaborate with the original the mimic pokemon had formed its base from.[break][break]
"i wonder what awaits us," she thought out loud, her gaze down on the working gravelers as she said this and picking up to look at none of the three in specific - merely exchanging glances among all three of them and then with the nothingness of a fourth missing member. "as for making a base, i did bring some things in preparation." not exactly gloating but instead focusing on showing her usefulness, she started to undo the large rucksack she had on her back. a large tent was within the materials she had brought amongst a set of canteens and some other necessities like granola bars and quick foods to hold them for the trip, though surely not for long. "if nobody else brought a tent or something of the sort, we can likely all fit here," she offered by means of providing them shelter as she started to work on setting it up.

if lorelei were a couple decades younger, she would be quite literally losing her shit right now. [break][break]
amidst seeing the almighty shadow lugia in action, another startling unit joined the fight. the larger-than-life steelix slapped itself down onto the ground with a comical sound, almost getting a laugh from the ditto that warbled on lorelei's shoulder - more amused than perturbed by far. after having gotten onto the platform, the conjoined ditto-owner duo seemed to be looking down at the spectacle and the rocket grunt figured it was best for her to try and help as best as she could. teamwork made the dream work, after all.[break][break]
"medic," she said flatly, the appropriate pokeball popping open from her pack and summoning the umbreon that hung almost like a ragdoll from its trainer's arms. the dog-like pokemon wagged its tail idly, awaiting a command. following its trainer's gaze, it gave off a giddy '-eon!' and offered its best 'helping' of helping hand to the lugia that seemed to be most 'balls deep' into the fight at the present moment. already prepping a wish shortly after, it was ready to send off the next action with the dark-haired trainer looking up at the horizon as if wondering just how much longer this could last.[break][break]
"so tell me: between large orthworms looking to end our lives and neurotoxin festivals, which one would you wish to be in and why?" unfortunately for them, they couldn't choose, but the question was more rhetorical in nature than not. the garchomp that had been tailing the team also seemed to not care for the question all too much as it sprung from the sand with a violent need to sate its bloodlust, its best stone edge in tow as the mighty steelix worked as a good opening distraction.

this was said dryly - the typical tone for conversations between the two business-oriented individuals. no matter. she didn't really care to continue the topic, seeing as it was something so blatantly obvious to her that she just brushed it off. cato, however, had other plans and apologized. this was strange to lorelei, seeing as she didn't quite find offense in what he said - simply finding it comical that he had said it at all, given her line of work. "it's fine," she said softly, looking down at cato's hand in a contemplative manner. the two of them were broken individuals. he had given her a purpose on which she spend her life on dedicating herself to. the least she could do was be a friend to him, though she was someone who the term 'friend' was awfully foreign to. "dr. lechance said that physical touch evades you. do you want to ... hold hands?" she offered clumsily, extending a palm already as if they were children that were about to go frolicking through flowers together as opposed to fully grown adults - one who was afraid of touch and the other who used touch as means to control, manipulate, exploit, and harm. "it's a stupid idea, but humor me." a crooked, obviously begrudgingly amused smile broke out onto her lips. "it's ok to act as friends in public sometimes, i think." while she spoke, goobly was beating the shit out of blaziken with its own moves - a pokeball being thrown by the ditto's own hands to capture the fellow pokemon.

the sweltering heat is met with lorelei's comedic choice in clothing - fully decked out in what someone would see in one of the indiana jones movies. it was evident she didn't visit the desert much, but she was sure as all hell prepared even to the point of wearing a large-brimmed hat to help keep the sun off of her like a worn parasol and a thin bug net-like fabric that cloaked her face like a veil. it was unfortunate her preparations were already accounted for -- or would that be fortunate instead?[break][break]

"i don't think these sands know many who traverse with anything quite like lugia herself. i trust you men are not worried, as well?" putting on shades in exchange for the hat she wore prior, she perked a brow over them - questioning the group as a whole as means to push further on the topic of if they were okay. perhaps it was her lack of experience in the field of the wilds or perhaps it was just another sunday for her if she was threatened with losing her life but she was ready to provide emotional stability if need be. of course, she would never know what the group suffered through prior and so the offer was left up in the hot air as she quietly repositioned her ditto on her shoulder - the small pink blob also having a matching pair of sunglasses as it lazily sipped the juice out of an oran berry.

truthfully, lorelei didn't know why she felt slighted by that comment. it was too late to retract her statement, however, as it came out in an almost poisonous hiss.[break][break]
"perhaps you can't expect that, but i can." maybe she was hinting at rhugone not even coming near to roman's loyalty. of course, she also didn't want to register the fact that roman was forced into his position which would wildly even out their 'loyalty' ... or would it? arguable, really.
