Acceptance. Both seemed eager to have her join the temporary team, something that sparked a hint of warmth within the woman's chest; a remnant of her old self from years ago. A sensation just as easily tossed aside in the scheme of greater things. She did not have time for such weakness right now. Maybe not ever. Not until she'd rooted out the evil that made her this way.

And that was day was definitely not today.

A large blast captured the threesome's attention almost immediately, and when the first chaos emerged in the form of a Roaring Moon barreling past in escape of the surprisingly menacing eyes of a hyper-focused Mega Gardevoir, she understood why.

"Sorry, she's being impatient." Her comms had sparked to life, Neon's voice sounding almost apologetic. Almost. She'd have many a things to reply to that, but bit her tongue and instead shouted at Andrea when she eagerly sent out her pokémon to attack the Gardevoir.

"Wait!" Gardevoirs are herbivores! Tempting, but too simpleton a thing to shout. Something more reasonable then. "You don't even know who it belongs to! Maybe someone was being attacked!"

To her Mightyena however the order was clear. "Intercept with Shadow Sneak, make it look like an accidental takedown." she hissed softly, making sure nobody could hear anything beside the intended move. The Mightyena disappeared into the shadows, a patch of darkness tearing itself from her shadow and blasting towards the Gardevoir. Once near it would appear and attempt to tackle the Gardevoir. In reality it would deal minimal damage and smack the targeted Gardevoir out of the Aggron's line of attack.

That is, if it didn't attack her Mightyena first. At best, Cal would have to resort to other means... as long as it bought the team more time to extract.

“Heh, no need to worry, it was just a small misstep really, the dust made it look far more formidable than it actually was.” Calliope rose to her feet with the help of the pink-haired woman's Tropius, gently petting the large creature. “See? Nothing hurt beyond a bruised ego.” she'd allow a sheepish smile to take over her face, eyes averted just in case they didn’t show the right amount of embarrassment one would expect in such a situation.

”And please, Cal's fine. ‘Ma'am’ makes me feel old.” The silver-haired woman managed to make her smile more genuine, finally looking both back in the eyes. ”But truly, you're a blessing in disguise. I got separated from my group a while ago and was searching for other explorers in the hope of tagging along… if that wouldn't be too much for you ladies?”

Amping up the desperation in her plea, Calliope rambled on when the dragon-cosplaying woman mentioned Paradox pokémon. ”Although I'm confident I could take one Paradox Pokémon on, but a second would be a bit-” Whatever else laid on her tongue died out as soon as the shrill cry echoed through the cavern. Although its sound felt distant, and with the knowledge that their Rocket squad's recent massacre took care of most Paradox pokémon in the direct vicinity, her Mightyena stood vigilant. Its fur raised, a low growl reverberated from deep within its body as it slowly bared its fangs and turned around. Calliope let it be, adapting a similar, wary stance.

This time she didn't have to act out the emotions she displayed to the foreign cry.

The small binoculars focus on the odd-colored Hydreigon and its rider before flickering down in search for potential company. If they're around they're doing well keeping out of sight... which means she better get a move on, now she still can.

"Heads up, Neon," Tapping her earpiece the comms crackle to life. "Flier at your six, three miles out from your location. No visible third parties yet."

The binoculars rise a final time to pinpoint the Hydreigon's newer location before she gets up from her vantage point, making her way down a slope towards more open terrain. She's smack in the middle between mint frost 's and Andrea Vaneau 's current locations, allowing her some leeway. "I'll make contact and see about some distractions."

The moment her comms fall back into silence she missteps- deliberately; together with a whole lot of debris and loose rock, Calliope comes tumbling down a good dozen meters, creating a noticable cloud of dust in the process. Hopefully it would prove odd enough for the dragon rider to investigate, while she pretends picking herself up again from her 'rather unfortunate fall'.

Letting her Mightyena out she remains seated in the pile of rocks for a bit longer, trying to gather her bearings. Although prepared for the intentional slip-up, Cal finds her body hurting a bit more than anticipated. Unfortunate, but it would aid her in selling this farce more easily.

"Winnie, please, stay put now- Calliope tries to soothe the young Toxel in her arms, who seems very keen on breaking free and eloping with the first pokémon that she can lay her eyes on. Like a rowdy child it struggles and strains, yet it lacks the strength to truly escape her trainer's grasp.

Today marks the day of Winnie's first vet visit. She doesn't know what awaits her, and does not seem fearful of other people, but it is the first time she's being carried outside like this; any previous attempts to contain her in her pokéball having failed. Calliope could have rescheduled the appointment, taken a day her Toxel did not suffer from her little baby tantrums as much, but she'd have to brave this storm some day. It might as well be this day.

By the time she reached Dr. Tiffany's practice Winnie had calmed down a bit, the distraction the lapels of her jacket brought a small solace. Although the model highly doubted her jacket would survive the ordeal, the fact Winnie was now quietly entertaining herself in her arms was enough for her to take the material loss.

With a soft sigh she sat down in the waiting room after signing in, crossing her legs and waiting for her turn.

Small puffs of air, frosting over into something visible the moment they met the cold air, and the rhythmic tik-tik-tik of claws upon the pavement. It was all Calliope and her Mightyena needed for companionship as they roamed the streets. Patrolled the streets, if anything... or close to at least. Slateport's layout was as foreign to her as her native country was. And she didn't even know her native country. Suffice to say.

A gust of wind creeps underneath her coat, prompting her to flick up its cowl a bit more. A long, light brown coat, its cowl and insides lined with white fur, a grey turtleneck sweater and jeans. Fashionable, yet casual enough to roam the streets. She prefered a more sleek appearance but that would only raise more eyebrows. The only thing she'd potentially raise now would be as to why she was walking around the lower districts.

Alecto snarled softly, alerting her of the new scent he'd picked up. Calliope shushed the Mightyena, gently stroking it before returning her hands back to her coat's pockets. No need for a confrontation of any kind, right? Just look down, avoid eyecontact and keep walking; the three steps to a life devoid of small talk. And she was sure she would've just passed the man without any trouble if it weren't for the violent rattling of pokémon behind a nearby dumpster that made her abruptly throw her guard up. "The hell?"

Somehow all things seem to reconvene at Mt. Pyre. Life. Death. The collissions of time and space, hidden rifts and long-lost secrets ready to be unfurled. Its humming is stagnant. Steady, but stagnant. Something like a computer's insistent buzzing, she figures... or maybe that's just the sound stuck in her ears.

The Mightyena beside her looks at the rift hidden within the little crevice like it's pure evil; warily, but not entirely off-put by it. Yet it does not budge when its master makes her way towards the thing, waving her hand in front of it, nigh touching it... Alecto sees the corner of a smile creep upon the woman's face.

With the tip of something sharp hidden on her person, Calliope cuts her fingertip and takes one of the rocks scattered nearby. She taps it, leaving a dab of crimson upon its surface. She does so again with another, stacking them one by one in front of the rift. The last one she picks, a mix of smooth and jagged edges, she gives three dots, before tossing it back into the rift.

Her offering to the rift. What the rift offers back in turn is not a gift she can wield, however.

A hand steadies the pirate’s back as she flinches, while a Mightyena leaps forth from their side, sinking fiery fangs into the curious Combee seemingly entranced by the woman’s hair.

“Honestly…” Calliope huffs, regarding her fellow Rocket with a frown. ”You’re supposed to be the experienced one here. They said there were many and still you go rushing in?”

The buzzing of the swarm became more agitated now one of theirs had been attacked, and with the arrival of three new foes in their makeshift habitat, they seemed eager to chase them off. The model grumbled something underneath her breath as her Mightyena bared its fangs at the Combees.

”A damn beating it is then– better make it quick before we draw unwanted attention!” She flicks her wrist at the dark canine, ordering its next attack. ”Alecto, Fire Fang!”
