Jett smirked. ”Aye, we can let something eat ‘em away, or something.” He hoped for something, he wasn’t sure that a pizza monster able to eat a Salamence that was as weirdly shaped as this one would fall to a similar combination. Still, he crossed his arms and looked over the battlefield in front of him; the mist that surrounded them, and he couldn’t help but be a little bit concerned.

”Alright.” He said as he looked and began to turn around. ”The battle’s only going to grow thicker from here on out? How about we go and wake up.” Jett said as he looked around, it was most likely the mist that was causing the issue, not the one his Remoraid had made, but rather the one that permeated this strange space.

He took his pokeball, and put his ‘Lucky’ back, and there it came, he could feel a rumbling the moment he turned around; the strong smell of cheese, the charred scene of a stone-baked pizza, and the loud growl that accompanied that as it began to scarf something down.

”Basically, let’s get the hell outta here.” He looked to his cyclizar as he got onto him. ”I don’t wanna leave some kid in this dangerous place, I’ll show you the way out.”

He had prepared with his trusted Remoraid, and Cyclizar had prepared the moment that thing had begun. His motorbike shaped pokemon, Bubby, charged forward, like a crazed creature finally allowed into the throes of battle, a roar as he slashed at the far larger Dragon, his claws glowing with an intense blue glow as he delivered the strike to the top of the Salamence, and then another with the right arm.

”Get clear.” He shouted to Bubby, before he jumped off, he and Lucky were locked on, sniper set, and then finally; fired. The ice-beam that streaked across the space froze the air around it, wider, stronger than the usual burst, before it strike at the center of its forehead, a critical strike if he had ever seen it, a direct headshot.

It was a strong strike, and the dragon roared out before his head slumped against the ground. ”I think that’s a solid record, is that your kinda pokemon?” It was a dream, but at the same time, catching pokemon was the dream of most children.

Jett raised a singular eyebrow, he looked at Kyle at the answer that he had gotten. ”Next you’ll be blaming your wife and kids, freedom is all about breaking the chains.” He said with a laugh, though he could understand holding one’s position. He didn’t hold any positions, but he did like keeping what was his, his.

”You sound like you don’t like any of ‘em.” He noted, a simple observation that would have passed rather comfortably, it wasn’t as if he needed to be a mindreader for that.

”Or are you just bitter as a boss?”

Jett couldn’t help but let loose a small chuckle. ”You only get to call me that after patting my head and getting me a nice meal.” He said as he chewed on his pocky, taking it into his hand, and then eating down what was left of it.

”Huh, so you’re a glorified layabout.” There was a definite mirth in his voice, it seemed that Kyle had ended up in that position without really wanting it? Or perhaps there was more to it that he wasn’t privy to. The league was a large organization, a lot of moving parts, to be the face of it.

”Looks like you ain’t got it easy. How about quitting? You can join me and the boys, ride around Hoenn, ain’t nothing like it. A nice, stress free life.” It was an offer given in jest, but there was a bit of hope. Running around like those days long ago, Jett wanted to see a sight like that again.

”A momma’s boy huh?” Jett said with a smirk, were a worse person, he might have stowed that away as a tool to use against this man, but he wasn’t, and so he wouldn’t. Jett nodded his head slowly. ”Course I know this is a battlefield, but everyone’s got something they’d die for here, or else they wouldn’t step into this place.” He said as he looked over at Honedge, was there a clean way to end this altercation.

A thought flashed through his mind, a dark one. To neuter this man for good; if he took his limbs, it would never be a problem again. But he crushed it, getting rid of it forever, dashing that thought to the rocks.

He didn’t have any interest in going down such a path again.

”Alright, time to get serious.” Jett smirked, before he clapped his hand, egging Honedge on. It was a pokemon he had acquired during his rough period, a sword in his hand that he had used to cut down those who wronged him. It was a bloodthirsty thing, and it sought the soul of the one that was like himself; dispersing into shadows, he reappeared behind the other honedge.

”Like mine huh? I doubt it.” Jett’s answer was rather quick, maybe it was a matter of talking for a little while, but Jett knew that the results they took were different. It was the difference between a forgery and the real thing, Melody was the real deal. He was just a man trying to take the same path, but doing a bad job of it.

”Cute though? Yeah she is. Is she your kind of girl?” He said with a smirk before digging his elbow into Kyle’s side. ”Woulda thought the sexy secretary was more for you.” He said as he settled on Cyclizar’s back, getting a little more comfortable in that moment. Catching up was easy; the words came smoothly.

It helped him to forget the fact that all of this was just making up for the sins of the past, trying to become a better person, to lend a hand when he could. ”What’s your kind of troublesome then?” He tried to divert things back onto the right course.

Jett scoffed, there was a lot at play in a way, for all of this. A seal stone, a means to end this particular fight, then they would simply have to find it with their own two hands. He let out a laugh, his voice dripped with amusement. ”Hah. Hero monologue? You’re the great top champion here, I’m just a guy with a bike. We both know just whose the pride of that place.” He said with shrug, it was a difference in where they stood in their lives.

It was silly in a way, how he kept going back to that point. ”I’m just here causing a bit of trouble for the other side…But I can’t see how it’ll be trouble if the league goes and gets it.” In a way, even he was convinced they were the good guys, just taking different means.

Hoenn had grown hard and harsh in the last couple of years, but even so…

He wasn’t naive. ”I guess there’s troublesome guys no matter where you go. Met one of ya Elite Fours earlier, goes by Melody, the idol. Interesting lass, good heart, if the rest are like you two, I don’t see how much trouble there can be.”

The smarts to survive, Jett knew that it was important, but at the same time it always left a bad taste in his mouth to hear it. Kids were kids, but at the same time; it wasn’t as if he would coddle them either. ”See if you can box it in, any attack that can potentially ground it is good for us.” If that thing flew out of their range, then it would have free pickings, and that was why Cyclizar was getting ready.

The mist began to disperse, Jett pointed remoraid up in the air again, this time her fighting spirit was rising. While Cyclizar was the pokemon he considered his partner, Lucky was a gift from a friend, a keepsake, and he trusted her almost as much, had known her longer than any of his other pokemon.

”Alright, Focus Energy.” She began to power up, but at the same time there was a gap as the Salamence charged forward, draconic energies swirling in its maw before it crushed down on it; a dragon pulse with significant energy heading their way.

Jett looked at the man across from him. ”Haa.” This man…Was insane, perhaps he should have settled on how strange it was for a person to say that, but no, it wasn’t that part he focused on. It was the kind of thing a child would say without any concern for how they looked. An adult, who could deliver a line with that straight intensity was another who had refused to grow up, and yet taken a different path.

”Hitoshi. You ever had anything you cared about?” He asked, it was a simple question, with a simple answer. If the man could answer so comfortable like that, with such a line, perhaps he was one who didn’t let go of it?

No, perhaps he was simply just projecting.

”Tch.” So kids were still wondering these parts? Jett couldn’t help but find himself annoyed at that fact. It was strange, but the world was beginning to change around them just again…

”You sure know a lot about this place huh?” He pondered what she had said, the reaction she had given, and the roar…Wait, a roar? He didn’t know what to think of the large dragon that appeared before them, his eyes looking at the strange shape change, and so he knew.

”Salamence…” A powerful pokemon, it was large, larger than others he had seen. ”We’re not outrunning it, get behind me. Shift gears.” He told his Cyclizar, while his other pokeball opened up to reveal Remoraid, which he held in his hand to brace the pokemon.

He saw a powerful blaze of flames being powered up inside the maw of the dragon in front of him. ”Hydro pump.” The flamethrower met the strong outpouring of water, before they both met in an explosion of mist.

”Is this one of yours?”

Jett didn’t flinch as the sword swung towards him; he had faced death many times in his long life, but at the same time, his Honedge was prepared, sinking into his own shadow and appeared in front of Jett, ready to block the blade with his own sacred sword, read energy met the soaring slashing attack, a strong clash that echoed in that clearing.

”Well, there’s a first time for everything. Don’t go falling on your own sword.” That was a killer in front of him, Jett didn’t like that. He knew full well just what this person was looking for, to take him out directly.

He wouldn’t give the guy the opportunity, yet, he took a cigarette to his lips without ever taking his eyes off that man. ”You got a name? I’m Jett Roan.”

Jett understood in a moment, he had been offering people and out; but there were people in this world that no amount of talking to would save. This was just one of those guys. ”Oi oi, you got a problem? Everyone loses sometimes, and in this case, you’ll be the next one.” Strong words, an engagement was won in the first round in most cases. Confidence was the greatest sapper of confidence, Jett was aware of that. He had been on both sides of it, and so he stepped forward.

”But, if you’re looking to sink your teeth into something, I’m sure I can make something work for ya.” He said as he took his pokemon out of its pokeball, a honedge all the same. ”We’re in the same boat here.”

Bricket, a simple name for his blade; he was more of a gunman, but he didn’t mind using her too; but not this time. Against a person like this, it would only end in death, he didn’t want to kill him. ”I’d recommend you walk away, but you’re not that kind of guy.” Jett wasn’t some mind reader, or a man who could tell another’s occupation at a mere handshake. None of that.

But, a man who spoke so callously of death? That was a man he could read like a book.
