The chittering Trumbeak recognized the other man and was about to chirp a greeting his way when several things happened all at once in the span of the next few seconds:

Cian had summoned a Guzzlord;
The other man had then clambered into the Guzzlord’s mouth (or at least that was how he saw it happening);
And said Guzzlord was now going on a fucking rampage!

“Well… guess that means discretion is out the window now,” he shrugged as he pulled the Cherish Ball he had with him out and in a flash of red light—

Out came the Wandering Stormbringer himself; Tornadus.

“Help,” he would quietly ask from the djinni; who took exactly one look at the Guzzlord and then gave him this ‘are you serious’ look before he pointed in the opposite direction; where the Latias was.

“Not that one, over there!” he would continue; and since it was already raining there would be no time wasted as a Hurricane-burst of wind was summoned from the skies and lobbed towards—

There was an incoming barrage of Mist Balls from the rampaging Latias; and the Hurricane burst would act as a shield to defend them from the incoming ranged attack!

Child of winter he was, and one blessed by the wind; but holy fucking shit the torrential tropical rain downpour made visibility rather difficult!

Thankfully, he was accompanied by a certain Trumbeak—the other man would recognize it once they were close enough.

“Cian?! Wait, I’m headed over there now!” he would yell, cupping his hands over his mouth as he leaned into the terrible downpour, fighting to stay upright because the winds were ripping everyone a good one!

He hoped that there was someone around who could change the weather out, because this did not look like any kind of normal early summer downpour.

The moment the nearby Weather Institute had sent out distress calls because there was something happening so close to Fortree—he knew he couldn’t just… ignore the APB.

There was a slight problem, though: the weather had also seemingly gone bonkers and there was a torrential downpour despite the surrounding areas being hot and sunny.

“Yikes,” was all he would have time for as he shouted to Guillermo Marceliño that he would be heading towards the Weather Institute to check out a disturbance so there was that.

In no time flat he would see… absolute, utter bedlam.

Wait, what was—

Was that a legendary Pokémon just going nuts?

And what were those chains—

He was actually on the way to a certain greenette’s birthday party (hi Shalin Nariya) when he decided to take a shortcut through the Rusturf Tunnel…

…only to realize he’d walked straight into a fucking nightmare out of one of those horror movies his partner loved to watch.

“Oh my god why are they flaying themselves—” he would hiss quietly before the belated realization hit him.

That some of the statues looked flayed, and had the hairs on the back of his neck all prickling before—

“Yeah, no, what the fuck is this?!” he would quietly screech, before the ugly, rolling feeling in his stomach would return.

Oh, come on! Not now! Not while he was headed over to—

He had to hold his breath while his Braviary flew ahead of him; fighting off the frenzied people who were acting all mesmerized that were trying to attack him.

This was getting really out of hand now!

Due to his panic, he didn’t realized his Braviary had smashed some of the statues closest to where he was fighting off the rabid, frenzied humans—

And oh my god, don’t get him started about the blood on the flayed, broken statues that were now rubble!

It just so happened that he’d stopped by Lavaridge to grab some Lava Cookies to bring back to Fortree when he saw…

“Oh, really?” he would remark, quickly stuffing the bags of cookies he’d already bought into the backpack he had with him before summoning his Gardevoir, Tatiana.

“Yes, I know,” he would sigh as the graceful Pokémon would recoil at the sight of all the poison, “…however we have a job to do, right? Let’s go.”

He would then head over to where people were being treated for dizziness due to the extreme toxicity of the air in the area; while his Gardevoir would use Heal Pulse on a wailing child who didn’t look so hot so they would feel better.

“Shh… I’m here now,” he would continue quietly, reassuring them that help was on the way while the Gardevoir got to work.

Came for the cookies, stayed for the healing! All in a day’s work for someone who was part of the Medical Corps, wouldn’t you say?

For one thing, the strange noise that sounded like a motorbike happened again, and then not too long after that the ground was shaking once more and all he could hear from his ear piece was fucking chaos.

“What the fuck is that?!”

“Beats me!”

That would be the extent of what he would understand because the rest of the noise would suddenly become panicked yelling and the sounds of running as he looked around in time to see that there—

There was a literal, big-ass golem Pokémon trundling their way! The thing that creeped him out about it were the… could he call those ‘eyes’?

(More like ‘biblically accurate eyes’ but we don’t talk about that!)

“D-don’t tell me you’ve encountered this one before?!” he would yelp as a Regirock (not that he knew what it was) would lumber into sight; as if searching for something.

Or someone…

Yep, it was just like the time several years ago—the precursor, the run-up that led to the Three-Day War back then.

About how there were multiple reports from all over the region about sudden rashes of invasive Poison-type Pokémon suddenly encroaching on human settlements and disrupting everyday lives…

“Oof,” he would breath through his mouth, because his nose already stung from the acrid stench of the poison. Just… just how many of these patrols had he been out on already?!

He could feel the pit of his stomach dropping out the longer he stayed around here…

“Man, what a mess…” he trailed off quietly; before realizing that someone was about to get jumped on by an Arbok!

“Whoa!” he would yelp, whistling a sharp note exactly once and watching as his blue-feathered Braviary came in screaming from the skies; picking up the Arbok that was about to attack a poor random passerby into his claws before he quickly pulled the scared civilian aside.

“Go, get out of here, now! Staying too long will only make you feel worse!” he would warn the person he’d saved from the Arbok.

“I thought they did the same too… just showing up at random places without warning, staying there for a while and then just vanishing without anything else. Though… I’m familiar with how inside the distortions, some Pokémon change forms, so there’s that. Wonder why it does that specifically…” he would muse quietly afterward once the distortion that had appeared had vanished in an instant.

Hideo did bring up a point about the Tera crystals, and he would make a little mental note to check out later about distortions not appearing where there was a high concentration of the crystals that gave Pokémon the funny little sparkling hats.

“…hm,” he would muse as this time, another familiar noise would cut over him as he was about to say something.

“Yikes. Whatever’s making those noises sure seems to be very active,” he would tilt his head in the general direction of where said noises were coming from.

“It’s either they’re talking, they’re fighting, or they’re… you know… gathering up somewhere.”

Either one of the three options. Who knew what they were up to?!

It had already been bad enough with the earthquake, and then the split-second distortion… what else was waiting for them out here?!

Before he could make an equally-knowledgeable retort about what other information he knew about Sygna suits—the ground rumbled.

Just his luck he wasn’t in the air this time!

“Wha—WHOA!” he would yelp as the ground shook violently; which resulted in him almost kissing the ground with his ass had he not managed to regain some kind of balance.

He was worried for his companion, though, since she’d gotten tossed towards the ground and—oof, ow, ouch, that looked like it hurt!

“Are—are you okay?!” he would exclaim once the shaking had stopped—but that was just the beginning of the insanity!

A familiar, discordant noise that sounded very vaguely like a motorbike revving itself up to top speed would follow right after the… huh.

What the hell was up with that shit?!

And then the steaming hot air would hit them like a brick wall.

“Ack!” he would cough, immediately waving his hands around to clear it out.

“Geez, what the hell.”

Little did he know he was about to land in something… juicy, the moment he realized he may have to get out from the tree so that his Braviary could find him!

The strange, metallic scent drew his attention and—

“Oh, gross… why does it stink like motor oil?!” he would mutter to himself, looking around and hoping that his Braviary hadn’t gotten lost.

Over where the avian was—the Braviary was so clouded by panic he was completely and totally bringing Miss Elise to another location altogether; because why did he just agree to leave him alone out there?!

What if there was a heebie-jeebie nearby?!

At the mention of ‘Sygna Suits’, he drew his mouth into a rather thin line.

“Asides from the fact that some owners have this entire ‘magical girl transformation sequence’ when they put the danged things on, they can only be suited up to two distinct Pokémon, and you can’t use it alongside pretty much most anything like Mega Evolution, or I think Z-Moves and all that…”

(This was what you get if you have a friend who beta tested the very first iteration of the Sygna Suits before they were released to the public!)

“…although, my partner’s suit design… the last draft I remember seeing…” he trailed off; feeling an embarrassed blush creep up on his face.

Yeah…

And just like that—

“Oh, you have got to be fucking kidding me.”

To be fair, the Zoroark line was one of the few Pokémon that could pull off an ‘illusion’ to near perfection without giving themselves away; however fact of the matter was that the incoming Flamethrower was going to endanger them all.

Thankfully… he had a back-up plan on his ass.

Reaching deep into a pocket, he would produce—not his Braviary; but a Ninetales, whose Flash Fire ability would kick in at the sight of the flames—before she would stare down the other Pokémon who’d almost incinerated the tent to a crisp before attempting to land a Feint Attack on the slightly-different looking Zoroark.

“Miss Elise, get back—” he would blurt out before the incoming burst of electric energy—

Shit, he couldn’t be in two places at once! Here’s to hoping she had something that had Lightning Rod to draw the electric energy—
